Puppy Board and Train Program🌟
In just three days of training Maeve has made remarkable progress learning sit, down, stay, wait, come, leave it, heel position, and focus on me walking. Looking forward to continuing as I love working with her! Well done girl🧡
Maeve the adorable toller pup has arrived for her Puppy Board and Train Program🌟 Today was her first official day of training as we gave her a couple days to settle in as this is her first time away from home🧡 She did great and we hope you enjoy watching! 😊
Tuesday Training Tip 🌿
During our Puppy Class yesterday evening we worked on both "Wait" and "Stay" for the first time. The pups did great and so did the owners.
Ever wondered why some dog trainers make a big deal about "Wait" and "Stay"? Like me! ☺️ They're similar, but different, and teaching your dog the difference can make a real difference in their behavior. Think of it this way
"Wait" means Hold on, something good is coming!
"Wait" is like a little pause button. It tells your dog to stop for a moment, but it also means that something else is about to happen.
Think of it like this: You tell your dog to "Wait" before you put their food bowl down. They know they'll get to eat soon, but they have to wait a second. Other examples are "Wait" before crossing the street or "Wait" before you open the car door.
"Stay" means Relax and don't move until I come back.
"Stay" is more serious. It means your dog needs to stay exactly where they are until you come back to them. It's about teaching them to be calm and patient.
Think of it like this: You tell your dog to "Stay" while you chat with a neighbor or while you grab something from another room. They need to stay put until you come back and tell them it's okay to move.
Why bother with both?
Knowing the difference between "Wait" and "Stay" helps your dog understand you better. This means:
Less confusion: Your dog knows exactly what you expect.
Safer situations: "Wait" can help give your dog patience.
Better control: "Stay" helps you manage your dog in different and dangerous situations.
Teaching "Wait" and "Stay" might take a little time, but it's worth it! It'll make your dog happier, and you'll be happier too.
What a great puppy class tonight🥰 We covered lots and everyone did great!

See you next week!
Claire's mom wants safe, peaceful walks, and the Gentle Leader will be a game changer, especially with her car and deer chasing tendencies. These tools are great for strong dogs, but proper fitting and training are crucial. We never sell them without instruction, as Gentle Leaders, like any tool, can be misused, and working around the head requires extra care.
Claire was a star during her class today. Look at her go :) I look forward to our next class!
Another awesome private training session with Rufus and his mom today! It's so rewarding to see owners get so involved and the dogs respond with such respect and happiness to please 🤗
It's a winter wonderland out there today!❄️
Here are some of my personal favorite ideas to keep your dog(s) entertained on these chilly days.
#1 Bring them to Dogwood Lodge so they can have a fun filled day with their friends inside and out. Also, add in our NEW Zen Den Enrichment add on to top off their day!
#2 Indoor Adventures. Turn your home into an obstacle course! Use pillows, blankets, and furniture to create tunnels and challenges for your dog to navigate. Hide treats along the way for an extra layer of excitement!
#3 Trick Training. Winter is the perfect time to teach your dog some new tricks! From "shake" to "play dead," challenge your pup with fun and rewarding training sessions. (At the moment I am teaching our Mal to crawl, so much fun!)
Happy Wednesday everyone, stay warm! 🤗
