We can't believe this...not a single application for either of these two beauties. Still patiently waiting at Pet Valu in Melville. Maybe with a shift in the temperatures, people will venture out more for shopping. Angel and Jay are litter mates and featured together but they don't have to go together. If you are interested in adopting submit your application at yorktonspca.com

What's not to love about these adorable siblings! Angel and Jay have been spending time with the crew at pet valu in Melville and having a wonderful time but they long for a permanent home and family. Even tho they are together does not mean they have be adopted together. They are the last 2 from a litter of 6 to find their forever home. Loving and playful, litter trained, spayed, neutered, utd on vaccines, microchiped, dewormed and treated for mites. Nothing left for you to do but give them a home and love them. Indeed how could you not. If you are looking for a new furry friend go to yorktonspca.com/ how to adopt/our cats to apply.
You won't be disappointed!

A special Thank You to Yorkton and area on the amazing donations for the shelter. It's been a tough year for shelters and rescues Canada wide. However, your continued support always puts a smile on our face. The pictures show most of the presents the animals received, minus the odd supply that was needed right away. Whether you reached out online or came to visit in person, Thank You for always "Helping Us, Help Them." We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a blessed 2025.

Thank you to all the families that have supported the Shelter through adoption, old and new. It has been a difficult year for pets across Canada and no different here at the shelter. However, adoptions always put a smile on your face. Especially visits from former shelter pets in their new thriving environment. Thank you Barney for the quick visit and the kisses yesterday, lol. Here are some of the recent pets that have now found their new home this month so far. Not pictured, Carla and Tip, they were the current longest residents of the shelter. They both came in April of 2024.

Just a friendly reminder that the Shelter does not do adoptions the week before Christmas Day. Pets are first and foremost a responsibility and need to be committed to. The Holidays are a busy time of year and can be full of impulse buying. Please be more thoughtful when searching for a pet during this time of year.

Are you looking for a new puppy? Here is some good information on the potential costs.

Adding a new cat or dog to the family can be an exciting moment for everyone!

It's also important for a family to review if they are prepared to best support their new family member to thrive before they decide to bring them home - this includes providing on-going food, shelter, health care, and of course love for the new addition.

If you are planning for a new cat or dog, what do those costs really look like? Here's a peak into some of the costs for just the first year of pet ownership.

Not included in this image? The time required to care for, train, and offer enrichment to the animal, unforeseen emergency costs, the life long commitment a family makes to an animal, and of course all the love and joy the animal will offer your family in return 🧡🐾
