He has no wings.
But sometimes it feels like he came from somewhere higher.

His breath is visible in the cold air.
Warm. Alive. Real.

And in that breath — there is more calm than in a thousand words.

When you look into his eyes, the noise disappears.
The same noise we carry inside every day.
Thoughts, fears, worries that don’t let us rest.

Beside him — there is silence.

Not the kind that scares you.
But the kind that heals.

They say horses are sent to heal broken hearts.
And maybe… that’s not just a beautiful phrase.

Because they feel what we hide.
What we cannot even admit to ourselves.

He won’t ask what hurts.
He won’t make you explain.
He won’t judge or measure you.

He will simply be there.

And sometimes, that is enough to put yourself back together.

Because true healing is not always about medicine.
And not always about talking.

Sometimes it’s about presence.
About touch.
About a quiet breath near your heart.

Maybe that’s why people find something more than just an animal in horses.
They find a peace they have been searching for.

And maybe, if you allow yourself to pause beside such a creature just once —
you will understand that sometimes help comes quietly.

Without noise.
Without proof.

It simply stands before you…
and breathes in rhythm with your heart.

We inform our clients and visitors that on April 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th (Semana Santa) we will be closed and no tours will take place.

During these days, the high number of visitors does not allow us to operate under the safety standards and conditions required for both our guests and our horses.
Our priority is always to guarantee a calm, controlled environment that protects not only physical safety but also the psychological well being of the horses.🐴🌿🤍

We truly appreciate your understanding and look forward to welcoming you before or after these dates.🌼🐴🙏

***📢 Good morning everyone! Update for today, Friday, March 20th: we’re thrilled to share that Kira has tested negative for equine infectious anemia 🐴. This fantastic news from her blood tests gives us more hope and room to plan her future care.

While we’re very happy with this result, we remain cautious 🚑, as she still needs a thorough evaluation regarding her surgery.

This positive outcome is a reason to celebrate 🎉 and a reminder that any support, even small contributions 💰, will be crucial in the coming weeks for follow-up vet visits and potential surgery costs***

🐴 A new rescue intervention 🚑

Kira – 4 days of care 🐴

These photos show Kira on day 1 and day 4.

A few days ago, we received a report about a mare in very critical condition.

When we arrived on site, we found Kira and verified the situation with SENASA (Costa Rica’s animal welfare authority).

Kira had been previously rescued from a banana plantation, but without technical knowledge or resources, her condition could not be properly managed.

Since Monday, she has been under daily care and veterinary supervision.

In just 4 days, she is already showing signs of improvement: she is eating, drinking, and becoming more responsive 🤍

Her condition remains delicate, and the outcome is still uncertain.

🙏 Special thanks to Vittoria Sorrentino, Chiara Lombardi and Tiffany Ivory for their support.
🙏 A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Leo Cano, whose professionalism and dedication set a truly outstanding example in the country.
🙏 Thanks to SENASA and Puerto Viejo Dogs for their support.

If you would like to help, your contribution is fundamental:
• food
• medications
• veterinary care

ON LIGHTNESS

Obtaining lightness in the horse is one of the common aims of all the methods of any horse trainer. Much has been written about it in equestrian literature, but although all authors agree on its necessity, they differ in their conception of it. For some, lightness means the absence of resistance in the jaw and a fixed position of the head and neck with a semi-tension of the reins. For them, the horse is light when, while accepting a pleasant contact, the jaw is not in tension. The horse begins to savor the bit.

For others, lightness is found in the obedience of the horse to the action of the rider’s legs, controlling him with the hand, while no resistance is felt.

As for me, lightness is characterized by the attainment of the following conditions: activity of the hind legs and flexibility of the horse’s back, direct intervention of the rider’s hand. Both allow the rider to have, from the beginning of the preparation, a certain degree of union, without being in collection.

This type of lightness can be obtained from a perfect balance of the horse, the rider being in a correct seat, legs straight, arms falling naturally, the back free of contractions accompanying the waves of movement of the horse’s back, giving the hands the degree of stability that allows a secure delicate contact with the horse’s mouth.

True lightness is that which instantly ensures the obedience of the horse to the slightest request. The attitude of the trained horse allows the use of semi-drawn reins. In reality, the horse educated with the greatest refinement can be directed with the “reins attracted by the force of gravity,” as expressed by De la Guérinière.

Personally, I believe that this conception of lightness is the sign of superior horsemanship. It is the opposite of what methods present under the pretext of the horse tense like a bow, which provoke and stimulate a constant traction of the reins. Working in search of lightness does not mean working each part of the horse in an isolated way, but rather all the extremities, all the joints and all the muscles functioning perfectly as a whole, with stability and complete absence of contraction in the riding.

Reflections on the Equestrian Art
