A new experience with my 5 year old Ayisha. I am working her now 2 years mounted and she is one of my most spooky horses i have ever ridden or trained. She is only 1/2 Arabian, yet she is an Overflyer... I have her now at the point she is getting fun to try new things and she trusts me enough that i am not asking her something she cannot do. In only 1/2 hour i had her doing small jumps in a canter and this next to a busy road that initially distracted her a lot. Any horse person will agree with me how magical a moment of trust, connection is needed to succeed in a new task which creates an even deeper bond. The Cabalgata from Monteverde to El Castillo Is an yearly tradition in the end if march since 25 years. Everything is organized in the perfect Costa Rican way. Noone knows nothing until the day they actually all find themselves at the start point at the Mirador San Gerardo. People come out of nowhere through pastures unknown they existed before. Why it is perfect is because we had all we needed. One had the machete, one had the music speaker tight to the horse. One brought the lasso and of course not to forget there was the "trago" on board. Everyone big small old or young have a place here. It's all about fun and put daily life aside. We have grass in the fields all year around for oir Arabian horses to graze. Yet the weather is sometimes so wet that we cannot cut grass or have the horses in the field. Also in raining season we cannot get hay. So we have a sort of a winter here that is our tropical summer here in Costa Rica. First competition 2024 and rolling. Competition is tough. There is a lot on stake. Predige, self-esteem, rivalry, companionship, pride, success, athletism, endurance, personal growth, and so much more. For everyone it is different. Mostly competition is to measure your type of ego with others. Self control and evaluation of the reality at presence is what makes you succeed. That is why in our sport the "older" people are successful. Our egos are less overbuilt. We all have faught our battles in life and we focus on the important stuff. We don't have any more time and energy to loose in the small "ego" stuff. Successful people are often the ones with less ego but higher self-esteem. It comes from within, from your core. You don't even think anymore about succeeding. It comes naturally its way. The day before the farrier is coming. They don't know yet. Only I watch and see it coming and say I can't wait. We have to take care of their feet in so many ways. Including their training we need to be aware how we ride to put the least strain on them.
