This little old lady is Metza. She came to us from the street, unable to walk. She had been abandoned and left for dead. Since then, we have been able to build up her strength and she is now walking! Metza is older than dirt, has a sweet personality and gets along well with everyone at the shelter. Annie is 4-5 years old and quite a handful. She would need a very specific type of home and is why she has been with us so long in rehab. She plays very rough so making doggie friends for her is not easy. She likes to grab your arm when she wants attention. She is a sight hound and has a very short attention span unless she is chasing something. We took Annie in because she would have either starved on the streets or been killed by a car. This handsome little devil is Uno. Uno came to us after being hit and dragged by a vehicle. When he recovered he decided that he didn't like other dogs, big or small he hates them all! Kiki came to us from the streets where she had been terribly abused. After years of trying to rehabilitate her, she is still terrified of men and anyone new entering her life. She will remove herself from any situation that involves new people. Kiki will be with us for life as we don't see her adjusting to a new home. Charlie is 20+ years old and has lived on the streets the majority of his adult life. No one remembers him as a puppy but many people who are now adults with children of their own, remember him from their own childhood days. People in the area would give him handouts and he managed to survive that way.
He now doesn't have to worry about where his next meal is coming from but does need a sponsor for 35 euro or $41. USD to cover his food and his medicine for arthritis so he is comfortable.

Star is a 2 yr old blind Shar Pei that came to us directly from the street. He was dumped and wandering trying to find food. We can only imagine how frightening that must have been for him. He does well getting around the shelter and has made some friends with the other dogs.

Bonnie came to us after her owner passed away. She was severely obese, barely able to walk and also heartworm positive. It has taken quite some time to get her weight down a bit but she also has thyroid problems so its slow going. Bonnie is 11 years old and not in any condition to be treated for heartworm at this time.
She would love a sponsor for her food, thyroid medication and her monthly prescription of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories that help with her arthritis.

Welcome to the new home of SOS House for Animals Rehab & Sanctuary. The dogs you will see on these page are either long term dogs that will spend their days with us forever because they are either too damaged to be placed in a normal family or are at an age that they may not have long on this earth.
The other dogs are Rehab dogs. These are dogs that have been abused or neglected and need more time to build self confidence, socialize and learn household goings on and allow someone to truly love them.
One thing all the dogs have in common is the need for support. In addition to food, we need to cover their expenses such as medications, Vet visits and the roof over their heads. Not to mention toys, dog beds and training treats.
The image on this post is of just one of the dogs we have had for rehabilitation. He is now extremely happy in his new forever home!
Sponsorship averages 30-40 euro per dog with some dogs needing a bit more for medications. We would like to have sponsors that are month to month since the majority of these dogs will need help over a 6 month or more period of time.
