Belgrade Tour 🤩

After the congress was officially over, we decided to organize a touristic tour in Belgrade for all participants.
This great tried to present to our guests some of its sights, significant architectural works, parks and greenery, monuments, the fortress, history, religion, de facto to give them a hint of energy of belgradians and Belgrade in general.

Day 4 was the last day of congress.
It was dedicated to the mystery slide session and mystery cases. 🔍🧩 The highly well-attended lectures were an opportunity to get answers to the mysterious cases announced earlier on our website. During the congress, participants had the chance to try to solve mysterious cases independently. 🔬🤔

Day 1 was exciting! 🤩🤩🤩 We have missed meeting everyone at conferences the past two years... so the biggest impression of opening day was the excitement of gathering on-site again!

PD Dr. med. vet. Rachel E. Marschang, DECZM (herpetology), FTÄ Mikrobiologie, ZB Reptilien
PD Dr. Rachel Marschang qualified as a vet from the Justus Liebig University in Giessen, Germany in 1995 and has been working in reptile medicine and infectious diseases ever since.
🟣 She received her doctorate in viruses of tortoises from the Jusus Liebig University and her habilitation in Environmental and Animal Hygiene and Veterinary Virology from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.

🟣 Rachel is a diplomate of the European College of Zoological Medicine (ECZM) in herpetological medicine as well as a certified specialist for microbiology (FTÄ Mikrobiologie).
🟣 She is a past president of The Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV) and the current president of the ECZM.
🟣 She is currently working as a consultant veterinarian for reptile diagnostics at Laboklin GmbH & Co. KG in Bad Kissingen, Germany, and as an adjunct professor (Privatdozentin) at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany.

Dr Laetitia Jaillardon is a veterinary clinical pathologist based in the National Veterinary School of Nantes (France). She is an assistant professor in clinical pathology since 2017.

🟣 She is also the head of a clinical pathology laboratory dealing with approximately 50 000 analyses per year, including a large proportion of endocrinology in all species.

Jožko Račnik, dr. vet. med., PhD, dipECZM (Wildlife Population Health) is an Associate Professor, and Head of Clinic for Birds, Small Mammals, and Reptiles at Veterinary faculty, University of Ljubljana.

🟣 He is a Slovenian specialist in veterinary medicine of birds, small mammals, and reptiles and an EBVS® European Veterinary Specialist in Wildlife Population Health.

🟣 Jožko has 20 years of clinical and teaching experience with wild and exotic animals, mainly birds, small mammals, and reptiles. His primary research interests include clinical veterinary medicine and emerging diseases of exotic pets and wild birds.

Cameron Martin graduated from Queensland Institute of Technology with a BAppSc in Medical Technology and took a position with the Mater Public Hospitals in Brisbane.

🟣 He worked in Haematology and Immunology, for 15 years, obtaining a MAppSc Medical Laboratory Science (Haematology) from the Queensland University of Technology during this time.
Cameron then supervised the district laboratory at Caboolture Hospital for 10 years, completing a Master of Technology Management from Griffith University.

🟣 He became interested in Point of Care Testing while trying to improve the after-hours pathology service at Caboolture Hospital. Cameron became the State-Wide Point of Care Coordinator for Pathology Queensland in 2004 and remained so to date.

Since 2016 Milica Kovačević Filipović has been holding a position of full professor at the Department of Pathophysiology at where she is dedicated to the development of clinical pathology service. The domain of investigation: a comparative view of hematopoietic and mesenchymal stem cells, and inflammatory reaction in vector-borne diseases.

🟣 Milica Kovačević Filipović, DVM, obtained her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Belgrade (FVMUB), Serbia.

🟣 She had 18 months of postdoctoral studies in research on stem cells in France (Institute for Natural Substances Chemistry, CNRS, Paris and National French Institute for Blood, Bordeaux).

Elizabeth Schmidt has been an Associate Researcher of Veterinary Medicine (Clinical Pathology and Parasitic Diseases) – at the School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science, a campus of Botucatu, Brazil.

🟣 Elizabeth graduated with PhD in Veterinary Medicine from the Sao Paulo State University, Brazil (UNESP) in Veterinary Clinical Pathology.

🟣 She spent six months as a training fellow (2013) in Veterinary Biochemistry (Marie Curie Institute Grant – FP07 Nematode Health System) at the University of Glasgow.

🟣 During 2015-2016 she was working on a post-doctoral research project with biomarkers at the INTERLAB – the University of Murcia, Spain (Science Without Borders – CNPq/Brazil, PD Grant).
