Hi welcome to friday art day. So the answer to last weeks question. The antilope mask is from the tribe. I was lucky enough to enough to visit the ivory coast as a little girl with my family. The mask is an antilipe mask . Worn in ceremonies. Honestly my guess its a because those are part of west African wildlife and have pretty large horn but i am not 100% sure. Maybe someone else knows, fel free to comment. I was impressed by the areas we visist like Bouaké. Shocked at the amount of of ivory and sad that elephants were killed for that. Dis you know the African Elephant is a national symbol. I did not i just found thatout too haha. Do you know where thepictures of today was taken. Its a pre mural in an european city. The birds on the picture are all feom south america. Can you guess in which country you can see all 3 birds species and as a bonus do you know their latin name? Answer will be posted on November the 1st.

The teivia . Do you know where its from? The art in the post depicts an antilope. Antilope fun facts…Did you know the smallest antilope species is a dik dik. There are 4 subspecies and they live in the bushlands of eastern and southern Africa. The first time I assisted in treatment of an antilope it was a Dik dik at the bronx zoo. I was an intern at the animal care center in new york and spend a day with Billy Karesh. So much fun. We did share a love for amazona barbadensis but that is another story. This is not a depiction of of a dik dik. Its most probably a the answer will be in next Fridays post (October 25th)

Cuty if the week. Ofcourse a picture of my dearest pet bird :Crockey. She is now 41 years young and we just did a conservation talk together with Bob ( whom she tolerates but despises) at the sea aquarium because of animal health day festivities. She was not too impressed with neither the nurse sharks or “herby” de grouper. I dont think its the original grouper from 30 years back. Parrots can live a long time. 60-80 years. Her secret? Eating pellets since 1995 after my internship in the states. Fruit. Exercise in and around her large cage and lots of love and attention and other parrots to boss around. And a bit of luck. Especially when she was you g she would go on adventure i to the neighbors yards with dogs…… I love her too the moon and back and hope every is like world anjmal day to her. I have her since my tenth birthday. And as such she is now longer physically in my life than my wonderful mom who passed away march 2013. Carpe diem and viva la vida!

Crazy Monday selfie. Yesterday was crazy alright. I wasnon weekend duty. Saturday and Sunday were very busy . Yesterday ( Monday) we saw a bat, tortoises, cats, dogs, birds. My new interns got properly baptized

Crazy monday selfie. Finished at the 11 th spot of the worldchampionship. Best competition so far in this age group.Today with my family and . It was a crazy monday. I guess i can call myself the best discus throwing vet of the Dutch kingdom. Or at least best dutch masters veterinary discus throwing track athlete. Haha . Still aiming for a spot on the podium so lets see next year march in Gainesville. 😎
