Tsappis Zootrophes) started operating in 1975, in the village of Dasaki Akhnas. Mr George Tsappis, the founder, started this company originally to provide feed for his own livestock. By expanding his work he began to provide nutrition for the livestock in the surrounding areas as well as work for other people. g one of the largest most modern feed mills in Cyprus today. We are the first feed mill to have both ISO and HACCP Certifications. In 1994 the factory was further upgraded for the production of extruded (cooked) feeds. With the installation of the new top-of-the-line extruder and packaging machines, we started the production of extruded feeds. The "CHAMPION" brand name products were born with our slogan being "Human Care for Animals". The extended feeds line consists of aquaculture feeds (shrimp, trout, marine fish, etc), Full Fat Soya, and pet food for dogs, cats, and pet birds. All of our products are distributed throughout the island of Cyprus through our dependable distribution channels that cover the whole island. In 2002 we obtained two important certificates, ISO and HACCP. ISO stands for International Standards Organisations, and HACCP stands for Hazard Analysis for Critical Control Points. All of the raw materials used to produce our extruded and pellet feeds are inspected, sampled and used only upon approval from the quality assurance lab. Pre-mixes and all final products are subject to quality control procedures, tracked and logged by lot numbers in accordance with ISO certification regulations. These two certificates help us to ensure consistently quality assured products. There are currently three production lines with a total capacity to manufacture 70,000 tons annually. The feed mill encompasses an area of 3,500 sq. meters in covered and production area with additional storage area that can hold a capacity of 10,000 tons of raw materials and final products. The current yearly production from the feed mill supplies the needs of Cyprus demand as well as for exports to Malta , Saudi Arabia and Greece . The total amount of products produced annually amounts to about 50,000 tons and continuously growing. Our product line includes:
• Production of mixed feeds according to client specifications.
• Production of size specific pellets for all animals; such as dairy cows, horses, rabbits, poultry, lamb, game birds, etc.
• Production of extruded feeds; such as pet food, fish food and full fat Soya. Our company is the only feed mill in Cyprus that is using the latest innovative technology in extruded feed production, which provides animals with healthy, hygienic and palatable feeds. Today Tsappis Feed Mills have moved into many other branches of the feed industry. We are owners of an aquaculture farm for the production of sea bream and sea bass. We are also providing dairy management and nutritional services to our clients here in Cyprus as well as internationally. With these services now in place we are at a new level with our clients bringing us into close collaboration with all of their nutritional and management needs.
