We were so pleased when Riley (now Greta), one of Ramona's puppies, was homed. What we now need is to find homes for the other 4 pups - 3 boys and 1 girl.
Here they are playing and running around - you wouldn't think it was 35-40 degrees in the shade! They are such lovely, healthy puppies and they have now had their first vaccinations. So, if you have a puppy-size hole in your life it would be wonderful if you could give one (or two!) of them a forever home.
Please come up to the centre if you are interested, we are open every day between 9am and 1pm (but we recommend coming nearer to 9 as it is still so hot)
Please share for the puppies and let's find them all a home!
Pupdate
LET'S EXPLORE!
Chiquita's puppies have left their comfy bed and started to explore their surroundings. They are certainly very inquisitive! Minnos the black puppy and the brown pup keep themselves to themselves whilst the cream pup does his best to annoy them!
We particularly love watching the cream pup try to get back into his bed, he makes it in the end and then decides he wants to get out again!! So funny.
It's lovely to see them growing and looking so healthy, it won't be too long before they have their first vaccinations.
We would be grateful for any contribution towards their vaccinations and upkeep, £10 or whatever you can afford will be very greatly appreciated. Please follow this link to the KAR website where you can donate into either our UK or TRNC bank account or by clicking the Paypal link and donating that way -

Please mark your donation with the reference “Chiquita” so that we can identify where the donation should go. Thank you in anticipation.
This sweet little kitten is Pumpkin. She was found all alone in the mountains, we can only guess how she got there. She was lucky to be found alive, given the number of snakes around at this time of year.
We estimate that Pumpkin is about 8-10 weeks old so she will be having her first vaccination this week. It would be wonderful if she could have a home of her own, a garden to explore and perhaps some other kitty friends to play with!
If you think Pumpkin might just be the kitten for you, then please come up to the centre and see her for yourself. Our rescue centre is open every day between 9am and 1pm but we recommend coming up early as it's so hot right now.
Do you remember our post about the 3 lucky dogs that recently flew to Germany? Well, here they are having a great time - running around and investigating all the smells in the woods.
Big thanks as always to @onedogisnodog for giving Naomi, Silas and Seamus an exciting new life!
Chiquita and her puppies
THEY'RE HERE!
We're delighted to announce the arrival of 3 puppies, Mum Chiquita gave birth naturally without any complications and the pups are doing well. Doesn't she look a proud Mum? The black and the cream pups are boys and the brown/grey puppy is a girl.
One already has a name! Tulin Mustafa, the kind lady who found and reported Chiquita, has named the cream puppy Minnoş.
Care for Chiquita and her beautiful puppies of course come at a cost. Here's a breakdown of the costs we will incur, just to give you an idea -
Small breed/puppy biscuits 1100tl per 15kg bag (one bag was kindly donated by Niyazi of Petline Vet Clinic)
Vaccinations 850tl x 2 = 1700 tl
Microchip 850tl
Neutering around 4000tl
Flea and worm treatments 500 tl
This totals approximately 8150tl (around £190) just for Chiquita.
It will be roughly the same costs for each the babies. This is based on current costs, which are constantly rising.
It is our policy to neuter all animals we care for so if they are too young at the time of homing we commit to following this up with the new owners and covering these costs when they are old enough.
Any contribution, £10 or whatever you can afford, towards these costs would be very greatly appreciated. Please follow this link to the KAR website where you can donate into either our UK or TRNC bank account or by clicking the Paypal link and donating that way -

Please mark your donation with the reference “Chiquita” so that we can identify where the donation should go.
Thank you and further updates will follow!
It never rains, but it pours - well actually, during the summer here in North Cyprus it doesn't rain for months but what we are experiencing are regular increases in costs. The cost of a tanker of water (remember, we don't have mains water) has just gone up by 400tl, so our monthly water is going to increase by approximately £200 to around £950 a month. The reason for the increase is the latest increase in electricity prices. That's an unwelcome extra cost that we need to find each month.
This time of year we get through an awful lot of water - for drinking, cooling down and of course, for cleaning.
Here's a video showing Jack, Wendy and their friends having fun and cooling down in the water, they just love it!
If you can donate towards our water costs, we would be very grateful. Donations can be made at the rescue centre or our office in Ozankoy, via bank transfer or Paypal. Here are our bank details -

Cats loving their food
Welcome to our cattery at feeding time!
As you can see, our cats are all tucking in and enjoying their dinner. What are they having for dinner - Lifestyle cat food. This cat food is produced by local vet Niyazi Çelebi of Petline Veterinary Clinic (BC Pet Food) and the cats absolutely love it!
So if you are looking for a different food to give your cats, then we suggest you give it a try, our cats certainly recommend it!
WATER! Our dogs and cats need water!
We are appealing for donations to help pay for water at our rescue centre, it a basic need for the animals in our care. As the temperature here in North Cyprus continues to rise, we get through an awful lot of water - for drinking, cooling down and of course, for cleaning.
Unfortunately we don't have mains water at the centre so we have to get tankers in and this is increasingly expensive. On average the cost of water to KAR each month is a whopping 30,000tl (approx £750), which is a huge drain on our limited resources.
Here's Rolo, showing us just how he likes to cool down in the heat. We think he's having a fun time!
Please donate whatever you can afford, every single donation helps. Donations can be made at the rescue centre or our office in Ozankoy, via bank transfer or Paypal. Here are our bank details -

We ask that when you watch this video please listen to the lyrics of this song.
When Elaine discovered this recording she knew it spoke all the words that every rescuer wants to express.
Homeless animals whether living in a shelter or on the streets, all need and deserve one thing.
🏡 A home.
We decided to produce this music video to show the world that shelter life can be a happy and a content life whilst waiting for that elusive home.
Our dedicated centre staff focus on well being and interaction to prepare our dogs for home life.
We will never give up.
Listen to the words. Get your hankies ready.
Do something nice this weekend. Feed a stray, neuter a street animal, or even better... often one a home.
It's a simple ask. Change a life.

❤️Bilbo and Honey❤️
These two are the stars of the cover of our 2024 Calendar, their story is lovely. Enjoy the video...
Be safe, love your animals and feed a street animal, you could save a life.
Bilbo was brought into the centre in 2012. He had been previously owned and when he first came in found it difficult to adjust to shelter life. He has suffered from gingivitis over the years and has had a number of his teeth removed.
About 18 months ago he started having vision problems and was diagnosed with retinal atrophy. His sight deteriorated very quickly and he was soon totally blind, which made it no longer possible for him to live with the other dogs in the compounds.
Living in the outside area of the cattery would allow him to be safe and wander around freely. An undercover sleeping area was created for him and a metal plate was used to cover the drain so he wouldn’t hurt himself and he could find his way to his bedroom. It only took a couple of days for him to negotiate his way around and look happy in his new environment. You can see from the video how well he has adapted to a life being blind
Honey came in March 2011 and also been previously owned and surrendered by her owner. Honey’s kennel mate that she had been living with for some time was homed last year, so a new companion for Honey was needed. Honey moved into the cattery and soon settled into her life with her new friend.
Honey and Bilbo have a good life at the Centre and time was taken to pair them together and find a safe environment for Bilbo to live out his life safely with his medical issues.
We do not just lump dogs in together, the hardest part of the job is finding dogs that gel and are happy living together.
These two really are a happy ever after.
Now.... they are print stars and KAR heroes.
If the story of Bilbo and Honey touched your heart.

❤️Dave - a truly great save❤️
Ollie and his family were out in Arapkoy last year on holiday. Every morning a dog would appear say hello hang around for a while then wander off.
He started becoming more of a presence as the days went on and then.... Ollie and the dog bonded... just like that. Dog became Dave and then the holiday ended.
..... even before Ollie and the family had got the airport, they knew Dave would have to join them..
Here starts the mission...
With the help of the Arapkoy residents who spotted Dave and with Ollies information knew where he had his breakfast... KAR for catching him, Niyazi at Petline for travel prep, Joanna at Niyazi Petline Kennels for caring for Dave for 4 months and Hasan at ALG Logistics for the travel arrangements.
It happened. The video says it all.
❤️a man and his dog. Reunited after nearly 5 months
❤️think Dave knows he's got his happy ever after, don't you?
