Our new handsome student Bram ❤️
Bram is a 40kg puppy around 8 months old. He is the typical ”out of control” doggy…
Bram is taking over his siblings and the whole house. Today he did his first lesson and learned many interesting things that also made the life of his mother/owner easyer.
We have a big journey ahead of us!

Dogs' eyes evolved to appeal to humans:

Researchers have discovered that dogs have evolved specific muscles around their eyes that allow them to make expressions particularly appealing to humans.

A small facial muscle enables dogs to create "infant-like" expressions, often referred to as "puppy eyes," which trigger nurturing responses from humans. This adaptation is believed to have helped domesticated dogs bond more closely with people over thousands of years.

The study, co-authored by Dr. Juliane Kaminski from the University of Portsmouth, shows that this muscle development allows dogs to raise their inner eyebrows, making their eyes appear larger and more infant-like—similar to a human expression of sadness. Such expressions elicit a strong protective instinct in humans, giving dogs with these features an evolutionary advantage. Over time, as humans unconsciously preferred to breed dogs with this appealing trait, the change became more prominent.

The research, published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, highlights how dogs have used this "puppy eyes" expression to communicate and bond with humans, reinforcing the deep connection between the two species.

I bet he was the bestest dog.

They were taken from the wild all those thousands of years ago, and they fitted right in by our sides, becoming a part of our tribe. They are not mere animals, but creatures of man.
They are our best friends. They are family.

Man's best friend - an 8400 year old dog burial found
in Ljungaviken, Blekinge in 2020, is the oldest of its
kind in Sweden. The breed resembled a powerful greyhound.
The grave contained some small gifts for the dog to enjoy
in the next realm.

“The dogs were being treated just like people when they died. They were being carefully placed in the grave. Some of them were wearing necklaces when they were buried, … they placed spoons and other offerings in the grave with the dog. The idea, I think, being they had souls and an afterlife.”
