Meet Lily! She visited our clinic because she ate a sharp bone and required surgical treatment (gastrotomy) to remove it. Lily has fully recovered, and she is ready for new adventures. 🐶

One of the biggest concerns with dogs eating bones are bones being swallowed in large enough pieces to make them difficult to pass through the dog's digestive tract, which that might cause puncture of the dog's stomach or intestines, causing life-threatening peritonitis. Prognosis is good if the digestive tract has not been perforated and the foreign body is removed. If perforation has occurred, the prognosis is guarded

My name is Cherry!🍒
My pawrents noticed excess skin around my v***a and decided to combine my spay surgery with an operation called episioplasty to avoid any future health problems with my urogenital system.

Both surgeries went excellent and I healed perfectly without any complications!

Ενημερωτική καμπάνια για τη λοιμώδη περιτονίτιδα που αφορά τους κηδεμόνες/φροντιστές γάτων.

Ο Παγκύπριος Κτηνιατρικός Σύλλογος ανακοινώνει ότι θα διεξαγαγει ενημερωτική καμπάνια διαμέσου των μέσων κοινωνικής δικτύωσης, σχετικά με την νόσο της λοιμώδους περιτονίτιδας και η οποία θα αφορά τους κηδεμόνες/φροντιστές των ζώων. Μικρά βίντεο ερωτήσεων και απαντήσεων θα αναρτώνται και θα απαντούν σε ερωτήσεις που εσείς θα αποστείλεται.

Παρακαλώ γράψτε στα σχόλια όποιες ερωτήσεις/απορίες έχετε που αφορούν τη λοιμώδη περιτονίτιδα της γάτας.

Meet Mikel, he came to our clinic with severe tissue hyperplasia of the vertical ear canal. You can see photos of before and after his surgical procedure (TECA with LBO).

Total Ear Canal Ablation (TECA) is indicated in animals with:
●chronic otitis externa that have failed to respond to appropriate medical management
●severe calcification and ossification of the ear cartilage
●severe epithelial hyperplasia extends beyond the pinna or vertical ear canal. ●Neoplasia of the ear canal (e.g., ceruminous gland adenocarcinoma)

Most animals with severe, chronic otitis externa have concurrent otitis media therefore Lateral Bulla Osteotomy (LBO) should also be performed.

Meet Adolfo, he visited our clinic about a mass he had on his tongue. This mass was fibrosarcoma. He had his surgical treatment done and now he is back in action 🐶

Oral fibrosarcoma are the 3rd most common oral tumor in dogs with the median age of diagnosis 7-8 years. They are locally aggressive, invasive and destructive tumours and often recur after surgical resection. With surgical treatment alone, median survival rate is about 1 year. Using a combination of surgery + radiation therapy, median survival time is about 18 to 26 months.

WARNING! ⚠️ Processionary and March caterpillars have poisonous spines and hairs on their body which are designed to ward off predators.

If your dog licks a poisonous caterpillar, will experience symptoms such as drooling, swelling of the mouth, swallowing difficulties, and even tongue necrosis as a result of the toxic substance.

If you are concerned that your dog has eaten a caterpillar, it is best to contact your veterinarian for advice.

Mouri was presented at our clinic with intestinal obstruction, which was caused by a kid's toy (photo) that she ingested. The toy was surgically removed and Mouri has successfully recovered 😻

❗️❗️Not every mass is cancer!
✅🔬Get your pet checked with a non-invasive, pain-free cytological exam before you jump into conclusions.
👉Below is the case of a not so good-looking mass that turned out to be completely harmless.
What is a cutaneous histiocytoma?
A cutaneous histiocytoma is a common benign tumor of Langerhans cells. In their early stages, over the first one to four weeks, they grow rapidly. During this period of rapid growth, they often ulcerate and may become infected. Later, they may regress spontaneously.
How is it treated?
Most dogs that develop these tumors are young, and spontaneous self-cure is common with time.
