We're absolutely blown away by the progress Sergio has made, but our hearts ache knowing it took almost TWO long years just to be able to touch him 😢. While he's improving, it's painfully slow, and we fear he might never know the full freedom and happiness he deserves 💔. The only thing that can truly speed up his recovery is finding him a peaceful and loving home 🏡. We are *desperately* seeking an experienced local foster to help Sergio heal.

Wings of Hope: Help Us Give 16 Dogs a Second Chance in Life! 🐾✈️

Sirius Dog Sanctuary has been a safe haven for so many dogs in need, but recently, we've faced immense challenges in finding them forever homes. Despite our best efforts, most of these loving dogs have been waiting far too long for a family to call their own. But now, we have an incredible opportunity to change their lives!

Many Tears Animal Rescue in the UK has kindly offered to help us by taking in 12 of our dogs and East Midlands Rescue is taking another 4. These partnerships could mean the world to these dogs, giving them a real chance to find the loving homes they deserve. But to make this happen, we urgently need to raise €14,000 by the 24th of October to cover the costs of flying them to the UK.

Every euro brings us one step closer to giving these dogs the future they deserve. Your donation will directly fund:

- Flights and safe transportation for the 16 dogs
- Travel crates and necessary documentation
- Essential veterinary checks before their journey

These 16 dogs have already been through so much. Many were abandoned, neglected, or even mistreated before finding refuge at Sirius. Now, they have a chance at a fresh start, but we can’t do it without your support.

Emy is roughly 1 year old Kokoni, weighed approximately 6kg.
Shes dainty , affectionate, fun loving and loves people, especially kids 😍
This delightful creature was found living in the industrial area next to a pile of garbage where she was scavenging for food. Clearly someone didn't think she was worth much. Their loss! She is an absolute gem and in 4 weeks she'll be landing in the UK in search for her new home.

SABRINA IS READY!!
Our beautiful pupster Sabrina flew to her UK foster just over a week ago and she is doing exceptionally well. We are so proud of her 😍!
Sabrina is 7 months old, healthy, child friendly, dog friendly Shepherd Cross weighing roughly 20kg. She is ready for the next chapter of her life journey.
Her forever home 🏡❤️
This is what her foster mum has to say about Sabrina.
"Sabrina has been with us for just over a week. She is a lovely pup who has slotted right in to our existing pack, she has respect for the older and smaller dogs and has found a playmate in the younger dog. She is your typical cheeky adolescent who will find mischief where she can, however she has proven to be respectful in the house especially when we have food. Sabrina is a very human oriented dog who constantly checks in on a walk and does not wander off too far. She has shown no interest in the free ranging chickens and will happily ignore them when out in the garden.
Sabrina does lack some confidence and will need someone who is understanding and willing to work on this.
She is as house trained as any dog is her age, and will actively inform you when she wants to go out. She has travelled well in our van on the journeys we have been on."

🔊 PLEASE TURN SOUND ON FOR THE FULL EXPERIENCE!!

This is Dobby. He is an impressive dog who is slowly breaking. The shelter is breaking him. The chaos, the heat, the confinement, the deafening noise. It's all breaking him.
We've compiled 2 videos just so you can see the contrast. Dobby loves the water and he loves human company and his peace.
But this serene setting only lasts a few minutes in the day. 20 minutes the most. That means Dobby spends the other 23 hours and 40 minutes in his kennel. It's not a small kennel but it's not where he wants to be 💔. He becomes highly stressed and exhibits this in his behaviour.
Lately he has been losing weight due to his high stress levels. He eats high quality food and he eats like a horse but doesn't keep it on.
This is not the life we want him to have, this is not a life for any dog but it's the best we can offer so please help Dobby find peace in a more appropriate environment. There must be someone out there for this boy.

Just over a week ago our handsome boy Levi flew to his home in the UK to join another Sirius dog. He loves his new family and canine sister Beau (previously Kim).
Levi was found wandering in the area around the shelter in the exhausting heat wave.
He is a big lump of love and we couldn't be happier for him. ❤️😍

Is there ANYONE out there for young Jason? 🥹
Jason is 16 month old kokoni who suffers from trauma making him distrusting of people. He has been with us for 9 months already but progress is slow. Jason needs a patient, experienced foster or forever home where he can blossom and start to trust again. We know he wants that, he just doesn't know how. He is physically healthy and when he does allow us to see his happier, playful side it feels like warm sunshine on a gloomy cold day.
The happy Jason is buried in there, behind those eyes. But he needs you to help him otherwise this will be his life 💔

Spike is pleading for you to see his world: cold concrete, metal bars, and crushing loneliness. Half his life was spent chained; the other half has been in this empty, desolate place. At 10 years old, his chances of adoption are nearly zero.

But we can't give up on him.

SMILE it's contagious ! Introducing MELI 🐝🐝🍯. If you haven't guessed it already Meli means honey in Greek and this girl is definitely sweet! She is also sociable, child friendly and dog friendly..
Someone didn't appreciate her sunny disposition and dumped her on the streets to fend for herself. Luckily Meli is a healthy 2 year old, small sized dog with a big personality so we are hoping she won't be stuck at the shelter for too long.

Here's a word that MANY people don't seem to have in their vocabulary or way of life. So today we'd like to see how being proactive with our pets is BETTER than being reactive!
- Make your fencing/home secure BEFORE your pet escapes. If you are adopting from a shelter they will have a fair idea of your pet's capabilities so listen to them!
- Book the vet appointment BEFORE the health issue becomes too large and costly. Routine check ups and blood work is better than trying to do damage control when it's probably already too late.
- Microchip your pets! It's not just your lawful obligation, it can SAVE you so much heart ache and worry when you can be reunited quickly
- SPAY & NEUTER BEFORE the s***t hits the fan! We cannot stress this enough. Most people think "oops" is a reasonable excuse when they have a litter of pups looking for homes or when their dog runs off in search of a mate and gets run over, lost or poisoned in the process. Wake up and take a look around you! Your lack of responsibility is paralysing the rescue community who are tirelessly working to mop up your mess.
- Have a plan in place for emergencies. What's an emergency? I need to move, I need to be away at short notice, a sick family member requiring our undivided attention. Life will always throw unpleasant circumstances at us. Be prepared! Have a pet sitter / walker on speed dial. Have money saved up on the side not just for your 2-legged family member, pets are family too! Check out boarding kennels well in advance so you know your options before the events take place.
Being proactive instead of being reactive means being RESPONSIBLE, it means we understand that to some extend we have control of what happens in our lives and those we chose to include in it.
