Summer can be a great time for dogs, but it also requires some extra care to keep them safe and comfortable. Here are some tips and considerations for taking care of dogs during the summer:

Hydration
🐾Always provide fresh water: Ensure your dog has access to clean, fresh water at all times.
🐾Carry water on walks: Bring water and a portable bowl when going out for walks or trips.

Heat Protection
🐾Avoid peak heat hours: Walk your dog early in the morning or late in the evening when it's cooler.
🐾Shade and cool areas: Provide shady areas where your dog can rest and cool off.
🐾Never leave in cars: Do not leave your dog in a parked car, as temperatures can rise quickly and become life-threatening.

Exercise
🐾Adjust intensity: Reduce the intensity and duration of exercise on hot days.
🐾Surface temperatures: Be cautious of hot pavement or sand which can burn your dog’s paws. Test it with the back of your hand for a few seconds; if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog.

Grooming
🐾Regular brushing: Helps remove excess fur and can keep your dog cooler.
🐾Consider a trim: For dogs with thick fur, a trim can help them stay cool but avoid shaving them down to the skin as it can increase the risk of sunburn.

Health Precautions
🐾Watch for heatstroke: Symptoms include excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, and collapse. If suspected, move your dog to a cooler place, provide water, and contact a vet immediately.
🐾Prevent parasites: Use vet-recommended flea, tick, and heartworm preventatives.

Fun Activities
🐾Water play: Many dogs enjoy playing in water, whether it’s a kiddie pool, sprinklers, or a trip to a dog-friendly beach or lake.
🐾Frozen treats: Make dog-safe frozen treats, like ice cubes with bits of kibble or dog-friendly fruits like blueberries.

By taking these precautions, you can ensure your dog enjoys the summer safely and comfortably.

Originally bred for herding sheep Border Collies need lots of exercise and mental stimulation to avoid problem behaviour.
▪️ Due to their intelligence and working backgrounds, Border Collies are responsive and pick up training quickly.
▪️ This breed responds exceptionally well to positive reinforcement techniques, so make sure you always have training treats on hand!
▪️ Their chasing and herding instinct means you should spend plenty of time on recall training before letting them off the lead to keep your Border Collie safe.

Slash is a great escape artist 😅 He can fit through any hole and as soon as he realizes that the front door is open, he runs as fast as he can.

Through his training, we are building the bond between him and his owners, establishing boundaries such as sit and wait at an open door and mastering his "recall" skills.

You’ve probably heard a myth or two about pit bulls and terms like “aggressive” or “dog-fighting” might be the first thoughts that come to your mind. With so much false information out there about pit bull-type dogs, it can be difficult to differentiate fact from myth.

The truth is, pit bulls are one of the most misunderstood dogs in the world – so what’s myth and what’s fact?

1. Myth: Pitties are an inherently aggressive breed.
1. Fact: Environmental factors cause aggression, not a particular breed or type of dog.

2. Myth: Pitties don’t make good family pets.
2. Fact: All dogs have individual needs and preferences – pit bulls can make wonderful family pets.

Dachshunds, also known as "Weiner Dogs", are scent hound dogs bred to hunt badgers and other tunneling animals, rabbits, and foxes. They are an independent breed that enjoy challenges. They are energetic and fairly playful. Given sufficient exercise, Dachshunds can be quiet house dogs and sofa companions. At times stubborn, the breed can be difficult to train, but it responds well to rewards.
