It is with heavy heart that we announce the closure of our cherished Medvets Veterinary Clinic. Last day is this Friday (included) 07/07/23.

Over the years the clinic had been a haven for countless beloved animals, providing them with exceptional care and nurturing. However, as the circumstances has changed and new opportunities emerged, it became evident that the time had come to bid farewell to our establishment. We want to express our deepest gratitude to our loyal customers and their furry companions for the trust and support they have shown us over the years. While we may no longer be physically present, we assure you that we will continue to assist and care for your pets in every way we can.

Pet Parade will take over the premises and our reception staff will remain at their post/"new' Job to provide access to their complete medical history and any other information that you need, to ensure their continued well-being.

Michalis recently adopted a lovely dog named Chloe 🐶

A beautiful drawing given to us today after saving a little boys cat. The cat needed an urgent thoracocentesis.

Thoracocentesis in a dog/cat is a medical procedure performed to help relieve breathing difficulties caused by excess fluid or air in the chest cavity. The procedure is done under sedation and local anesthesia, and the veterinarian carefully removes the fluid or air using a sterile needle. While it may sound intimidating, thoracocentesis can provide significant relief to a dog/cat and improve their overall quality of life.

Daisy, a beautiful Yorkshire terrier visited our clinic today for a pregnancy check up🐣❤️🐶

A veterinarian can check the pregnancy of a dog through a few different methods, including:

Physical examination: A vet can palpate the abdomen of the dog to feel for the presence of fetuses. This is typically done around 28 days after breeding.

Ultrasound: An ultrasound scan can be used to visualize the fetuses in the uterus. This is typically done around 25 days after breeding.

Blood test: A blood test can measure the level of relaxin, a hormone produced by the placenta, which can indicate pregnancy. This is typically done around 28 days after breeding.

Jessie, a beautiful French Bulldog who could not deliver and had to undergoes a C-Sectio here at the Medvets Veterinary Clinic !

A veterinarian performs a C-section, or cesarean section, on an animal in a similar way to how a human doctor would perform the procedure. Here are the general steps involved:

Anesthesia: The animal is given general anesthesia to ensure it is unconscious and does not feel any pain during the procedure.

Preparation: The veterinarian will shave and clean the area around the animal's abdomen to prevent infection.

Incision: A small incision is made through the abdominal wall, and then through the uterus. The veterinarian will carefully avoid cutting the puppies or kittens inside the uterus.

Delivery: The puppies or kittens are carefully removed from the uterus and handed over to an assistant to start breathing.

Closing the incision: The veterinarian will then stitch up the incision in the uterus and then the abdominal wall.

Recovery: The animal is carefully monitored during the recovery period to ensure it wakes up from anesthesia safely and that there are no complications.

This is lovely Zac, a 6 years old doggy who has been in the clinic due to a severe Pancreatitis.

Pancreatitis in dogs is an inflammatory reaction within the pancreas that can result in abdominal pain, inappetence, and vomiting. The inflammation results from the inappropriate, early activation of an enzyme within the pancreas, which causes the pancreas to digest itself.

After been treated, Zac is now enjoying a happy, healthy life with his loving owners. Good luck Zac 🎀

Popeye returning to the clinic for examination and removal of stitches 🪡 after a successful eye removal operation.

Enucleation surgery is a permanent solution for unresponsive eye conditions. Removing the painful, infected, necrotic, damaged, or cancerous eye completely will ideally eliminate the problem, as well as preventing the condition from spreading.

Popeye is healing very well and able to live a happy life even with one eye! Wishing him all the best🐱

Lucky, a male mini pincher, 12 years old was brought to the clinic with a lump under the belly extending towards his bum. He was diagnosed with a perineal hernia.

A perineal hernia occurs when organs or tissue push through pelvic floor muscles into your abdominal cavity. We also found that Lucky had a mass at the same spot. An urgent surgery was required.

We had to consider the fact that Lucky was an older dog before we proceed, but his condition urged us to do the surgery.

Today, after the surgery, Lucky was brought to the clinic for examination and to remove the stitches 🪡. He is recovering very well and feeling happy and excited! Good luck to Lucky!!!

13 years old Dolly arrived at the clinic in a very bad condition! After a thorough examination it became obvious that emergency blood transfusion was needed.

In cats, blood transfusion usually occurs when a sick cat is not responding to traditional therapies and the cat's own blood is not able to clot properly. In this type of transfusion, a healthy donor cat's blood is carefully drawn and put into the sick cat. In time, the sick cat's own blood vessels will start to heal and the donated blood will be Gradually removed.

After performing the blood transfusion Dolly is doing better but still in need of great care due to other issues involved. Hopefully with our care and love he will be home soon ❤️

Diarrhea, vomiting and fever in cats can be an indication of feline parvovirus. There is no cure for the disease but intensive care after early detection can lead to recovery!
