NOVA displayed remarkable resilience during her visit to the veterinarian today. Following a difficult spaying surgery a few weeks ago, which due to her overbreeding, her reproductive health has been compromised.

She has been diagnosed with a hematoma and is currently on antibiotics. Also one of her teats has accumulated fluid and needed to be extracted by needle.

She will continue with weekly ultrasounds to monitor the fluid accumulation.

During this visit, Nova also received her second vaccination.

Despite the discomfort of being examined and treated, Nova remained strong and composed.

As a reward for her bravery, we visited Peggy's Secret Garden, where she enjoyed sharing a sausage treat—delicious! This outing not only served as a pleasant distraction but also facilitated with her socialization.

I loved watching her strut and wag her tail after enjoying an hour at the beautiful Peggy's Secret Garden Cafe/Bar.

She's a darling ❤️

📢Calling all cozy blankets! Our furry friends are gearing up for a grand adventure to their forever homes in the UK ✈️, and they need your help to stay snug as a bug! These pups have quite the marathon ahead—hours in a crate, a cargo flight, a ferry ride, and then zipping off in courier vans. It’s a long haul, and they need to stay toasty!

Got any used blankets lying around without tassels or fluff? We’d love to scoop them up! Just remember, no royal sizes—these little travelers need crate-friendly blankets, not the ones fit for a king or queen!

BUDDY is ADOPTED !

BUDDY was the elusive street legend of Peyia, a real ninja of hide-and-seek! But then, like a magical twist in a fairy tale, he struck up a friendship with a delightful lady in the village. Little did he know, his life was about to take a turn! She kept him in her garden and called for reinforcements—us! With his love for chicken, it was like rolling out the red carpet for this furry superstar. Before long, he was the life of the party, making pals with all the resident pooches and charming the socks off the volunteers. This guy deserves a gold medal in cuddling—he's an absolute sweetheart!

We wish you all the tail-wagging adventures in the world, Buddy! You’ll be missed by us all !

⚠️HELPFUL INFORMATION ! REFERENCE MICROCHIPPING - IT'S THE LAW⚠️

➡️This is a great illustration involving a lovely German Shepherd found in Peyia a few weeks ago. Although she had no collar, we were fortunate enough to scan her and discover she was microchipped; HOWEVER, the chip was NOT registered in Cyprus.

🙏Luckily, someone recognized the dog on PEYIA DOGS, but that's not always guaranteed. We met the owner who was unaware that she needed to register her foreign chip number on the island.

❤️Thankfully, this story had a happy ending, and they were reunited. The owner has since visited Government Vet Services to register her beautiful companion. As a gesture of support, we gifted her a dog tag. These two steps can provide peace of mind if you ever find yourself separated from your lovely pet or help someone else be reunited with theirs.

UPDATE: MEET HUGO ❤️

At last this boy has been caught, and he was so ready that he ran into the arms of one of his rescuers.

He's now safely in the pound, with a belly full of food and his choice of a dog bed or a kennel with warm blankets. He didn't know what to do with himself, he seemed so unsure of the comforts that he preferred the cold concrete floor but at last we saw him sound asleep in his bed. He's a very sweet boy, but avoids eye contact, cowers and obviously shows signs of a hard life, so heart breaking.

As he's been on the streets for more than 2 weeks and he's not microchipped, we would like to give him a name.

This fee helps us - help him 🤗 He will go the vets in the next few days for a checkup and tests for typical Mediterranean diseases.

We've received 2 brand new dog kennels from a lovely lady who wishes to remain anonymous. We are very grateful and so are the doggies, they will certainly all be cuddly warm tonight!

Meet HARLEY - The Dude, The Man! The Honey-Bear! A 15-month-old Labrador Cross weighing in at a solid 29 kgs of charm!

This fella is on the hunt for his forever home! He’s a brainiac, plays well with his furry friends, struts like a pro on a lead, and adores toys, dipping his paws in the sea and going on sniffing adventures.

We at Friends of Pegeia Dog Pound rehome through a UK Charity called STAR, Stronger Together Animal Rescue.

TIMMY is ADOPTED !

On a chilly winter rainy afternoon, a little pup named Timmy timidly peeked out from a pile of timber and quickly shuffled back in for safety. He could see that his Mum had been rescued, he was scared, what was happening, the world outside was daunting, he didn't understand who these people were, why do they have my Mum!

Timmy's mother had been doing her best to keep them safe, nurturing her tiny litter in the few precious moments of sun that broke through the clouds. The storms were coming that week, we need to get them to safety urgently.

A kind young man happened upon their den, he noticed his Mum keeping a watchful eye on the wood pile, he later discovered the litter. This urgent situation pulled at his heartstrings. Instead of passing by, he decided to stop and offer a friendly hand. He began to spend time with the Mum, bringing treats and meals, quietly earning her trust.

Recognizing the impossible situation they were in, the young man reached out to us for help. Thanks to his kindness, we soon were able to devise a plan to bring Timmy and his family to safety. With great care, we approached their den in the timber pile, he was determined to stay in the den, but at last we got him out.

Once in safety, he and his family snuggled in a warm dry bed and slept for the day. From that day on, we've watched his personality unfold, he's a clever little guy who will shower his new family with unlimited love.

Timmy is the biggest of the litter and has amazing markings on either side of his torso of HEARTS. That says it all about him - he's full of LOVE !

What an amazing story, and thank you to the good Samaritan who took the time to befriend a caring Mother.

Timmy's new life will begin on February 8th, he's been adopted by a lovely family from Nicosia, Cyprus, so he will be residing on the island! We all look forward to hear what antics he gets himself into ! We wish you a happy life!
