My poor Vexy has been up 7 times throughout the night, the diarrhoea getting worse each time and just now, a bile chuck.

https://www.preventivevet.com/dogs/your-dog-has-diarrhea-what-to-do

Vexy’s nose is cold and gums look fine. I can rub his belly and it seems fine, no sign of physical pain. He’s fully vaccinated and parasite treated. Has his flea, tick and sandfly collar on but, he’s had these since 6 months old.

Waiting for Coco and Helen to get up but if Coco had been sick, I’m sure we would have found each other outside throughout the night. Coco and Vex are on same diet!

Keisha and Joda, the dog sit duo, seem fine. He’s pi**ed inside again but, that’s normal (for him), not normal for a dog his age and living in a home this long? They’re on a different diet anyway.

Vexy is always leashed outside so, he hasn’t eaten anything there.

He’s been on Acana kibble since we arrived, more or less but, I have been changing over the flavour gradually, mixed with the original Acana flavour, no issues before.

No record of Acana kibble every being recalled. However “in late June 2019, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) identified Acana as one of 16 pet food brands that may be linked to heart disease in dogs and cats. None of those 16 brands have been recalled as part of the agency’s ongoing investigation, though”

https://www.petful.com/brands/acana/

Helen did make a new batch of mince and vegies. She uses a slow cooker to prepare it which I don’t know how to use but, again, if it was the good, wouldn’t Coco be sick as well?

Side note, I fell in the dark and face planted my left eye into my car, wearing glasses. They won’t look pretty later.

Fact! All dogs don’t like strangers approaching and touching them! Sure, some tolerate it but, don’t get up in their space. I made this mistake for years.

Fact! No matter how good you think your dog is off leash when faced with a fear aggressive dog or something new or scary to them, you don’t know now they’ll react.

Fact! Keeping dogs leashed unless being walked on your huge fenced propety, keeps everyone safe and allows everyone to feel sale while spending time in nature with your best mate!

Fact! If you own a scary looking breed of dog, most people are fearful of him or her not matter how lovely YOU KNOW he or she is.

Fact! Be respectful of others right to enjoy time out with the dogs and them the f**k alone.

It’s not rocket science.

This is what happens when you, My dearly beloved Vexy boy disappear for hours on end frolicking with the all sorts of wildlife late into the night.

I was beside myself last night!

Yes, you came home feeling guilty, with an eye injury and triggered your saw foot again but, you cannot free range kilometres away from the house, it’s not safe for you or anyone else.

Note, this is just while I’m getting him ready to take him and Coco for their evening walk! I don’t advocate tying up dogs ever but, my boy won’t be free ranging until he’s learned to stay on the property! When we’re not walking, we’re now inside the house. It’s also sunset here and a lovely 18 degrees.

He’s not a happy chappy but he does have to learn to hang around!

Poor Vexy is struggling to understand that Aunty Helen, doesn’t own all the farms around this area and is now wondering off way too far and for too long. He even lost us on our walk yesterday though returned quickly. With pine forests dotted everywhere and processionary caterpillar season in full swing, as well not wanting to p**s off Helen’s neighbours and have him teach Coco bad habits, there’s no more free ranging for Vexy! Naughty boy, not that he understands this.

Not sure how to try and train a dog to stay within an imaginary boundary????

Vexy and Coco are digging their way to Morocco!

Always and if you’re going to be buy a pedigree it’s your responsibility to make sure the breeder isn’t ! Also, selecting a breed or dog on its appearance won’t necessarily get you the dog your lifestyle demands. Malinois for example, have very particular needs and lifestyle that most apartment dwellers, couldn’t offer them.

Before you get a Belgian Malinois, look long and hard at this picture. This was her first day home from a local shelter… 😂🤦‍♂️👏

Vex and Coco love. Vexy is very happy at Helen’s and Coco’s farm and, I feel more at peace because of that.

We’ve been at Helen’s for 2 days now and Vex and Coco, Helen’s doggy, are getting on really well, 99% of the time. A bit of jealousy from time to time but easily managed.

So, I’ve more or less felt like the worst ever doggy mumma since 17 February 2023, the day we left Villanelle Dog Friendly Bed & Breakfast because I decided we were Moving to Spain!

My decision, not his … obviously.

But, I’ve made a decision he hates. He doesn’t hate Spain of course but he misses stability. He’s so confused with moving all the time.

He absolutely hates Vera. As soon as he sees her, I have to pick him up and carry him the rest of the way, and put him in his crate. He used to love the crate,

When driving … Vera’s loud and hot!

Road noise is loud, surrounding traffic is loud and, Vera herself is loud. I always have both windows half down, slightly noisier but a must do to reduce the heat in the cabin. I’ve tried turning the heating off but, makes no difference.

Vexy tries breaking out of his crate while I’m driving and when he gives that up, he’s panting furiously! I believe its stress and over heating.

Yesterday, we drove to Helen’s place so Vexy could meet Coco, her gorgeous doggy. Her stunning place is rural, set amongst the glorious mountains and almond orchard surrounds.

It was the happiest I’ve seen my boy in over a week! Off leash, on the earth (instead of concrete) and he had a ball! But, he also triggered an injury and is limping again now.

As soon as I put him back in Vera yesterday afternoon, he’s depressed again. Still depressed now.

Looking forward to staying at Helen’s and seeing my boy … happy again.

We’ll stay for 4 weeks and see how it goes but I’ll also look for something to rent during that time.

Another reality check on the ground … while there’s lots of properties for sale, finding the right one is going to take time.

How do I know when my boy is unhappy? it’s in his eyes, body language and behaviour:

- withdraws from giving and seeking attention
- prefers to be solo (until I actually go out)
- won’t engage with play
- lethargic
- won’t come to bed at night

All that aside, he’s been an absolute champion as well. So well behaved at the restaurant down the road, even with the random stray cats. Never ever does any damage when I have to leave him, which until we’ve established a new home. I only do for grocery shopping.

If only Vexy and Agápe (now Millie) bonded like this.

I still miss every day.

It hurts to even think about her. Unfortunately she’s had issues with a smaller dog at her temp fosters in Cyprus, after I left, and now with her UK foster 💔

I think Agápe needs her own person, all to herself. Dreading what happens from here, moving her again breaks my heart.

! It’s not always a bad thing

My international number on his dog tag fixed to his tick, flea and sandfly collar and his GPS tracker on his normal collar! 😉

Recently, a few “vanners” I follow have lost their dogs, or rather, their dogs lost them, it’s so devastating.

Please please please universe bring Georgia home to her Wheely Family in Turkey.

Minus 4 degrees C outside this morning but the skies are blue and it looks gorgeous out there!

Is it too cold to take my boy for a walk?

If it’s too called for me it’s definitely too cold for him. Clearly I needed to bring us some warmer clothing than is needed for a winter.

In 30 minutes I’ll drop Agápe at her new fosters in Peyia until her freedom flight on 26 Feb. Holding it together for the doggies but I’m 💔

I wish Vex bonded with her the way I have, sometimes life just isn’t fair. I love you baby girl, always will.

The amount of dog food recalls over the years is what led me to home cooking for my boy and the fosters.

The vets generally don’t regard my home cooked meals as the way to go.

They prefer prescribing dry kibble they sell.

I cook protein with dog safe vegetables. The dogs have great shiny coats, good teeth and generally very healthy. My recipe always seems to stabilise the new fosters poos too.

Here’s another recall by an expensive and famous brand. Constantly torn between home cooked and bought dog food 🙈

Great news! Agápe has been adopted in the UK. Her Freedom Flight is on 26 February!

URGENT: Needed from this Thursday 16 Feb. Fri 17 Feb my villa is packed and loaded for transport 😳

I desperately need someone to foster Agápe short-term from 16 to 26 February. 10 nights.

This is a paid gig but home inspection is needed.

I’ve also tried all boarding kennels, all booked out.

please please can someone open their heart and home for 10 nights?

When moving “countries but keeping the same phone number” remember to change your contact number on your doggies name tag to include the “Country Code” for your contact number! Did Vexy’s today!

Hoping his tracker arrives before we leave our current home for the last time on Friday, Feb 17.

I won’t change my Cyprus number until I’ve signed a contact to purchase a property in Spain.

I totally never say good bye to my boy and the foster doggies, when I have them. It’s a bit harder not saying hello on my return though!

Dear Mr Mayor (Phedon Phedonos)

This is evidence of how to proactively implement Cyprus laws!

Of course, it’s shocking so many animals have been in so much distress and pain at the hands of the very same humans responsible for their care 🤬

Malaga (Andalucia, Spain) conducted a sting operation across its province investigating 33 individuals relating to the illegal abuse of animals.

Yes, it’s illegal to abuse (some) animals! Even in !

This is EXACTLY what the Paphos Mayor need to do across the Paphos district to catch and prosecute all the , rescue the thousands needing help desperately, get them the care they need and arrest the and and all those who breach and license obligations, as a minimum.

Then, implement a policy of auditing neutering and enforcement of “existing” microchipping laws. Start with auditing all and and then start auditing all the properties with dogs chained (on. balconied and rooftops) 24/7, also illegal by Cyprus’ own laws!

While you’re at it Mr Phedonos, close the zoo! Out of government coffers! The government approved this operation and you’re therefore mutually accountable and responsible for the animals in their care.

The privately owned and funded and centres are at the brink, always! So are thousands and thousands of volunteers in Cyprus and abroad in Europe, because that’s the only hope rescued animals have on this so called

operations save lives and find European homes for over 10,000 rescued Cyprus dogs a year, free of all charges and any responsibility by and their Distict Governments while concurrently enabling the to continue, day in and day out.

Dont you have any respect for your own island, your own country. Aren’t you ashamed?

You should all be ashamed at your values and abhorrent attitude and ILLEGAL cruelty toward animals and this otherwise extremely beautiful island!

The Cyprus government does not allow sufficient funding to deal with their animal welfare crises and is doing NOTHING to change the brevity of so many animals suffering, so the private rescue and adoption centres once again, come to the rescue of the dogs in municipal pounds as well.

Why are rescued dogs being sent overseas you ask Mr Phedonos?

There ain’t enough people in who don’t abuse animals comparative to number desperately needing help!

Over 100 animal species, dogs and cats included, are sentient beings, just like us and they feel pain and emotion!

clean up the mess of !
them for their abhorrent cruelty!

Also, let’s not forget the across your district. Several hunters have told me they’re sending them to Russia? How is trade with Russia legal under the current climate? Get those bastards while you’re at it! Nothing good comes from sending dogs to ?

The private rescue and adoption centres save the millions and millions of € every year, never mind the contribution that also makes to society in form of safety for its children and people.

In lower , some people are too afraid to walk their dogs from their homes because of the gang of strays and other village owned free range pet dogs are roaming the streets in large gangs, terrifying people and their leashed, vaccinated, microchipped dogs while being taken for a walk!

Are you waiting for a gang of stray dogs to attack or kill a child before doing something?

I can see the press coverage now, you blaming the dog(s) without even considering the humans here, who are through their faulty beliefs and practices, are actually responsible for that attack or killing.

Mr Phedonas, are you ALSO too afraid of the ?

There’s no point building a smart shiny city if you don’t address the rust that lurks below the surface! It will also cause your smart and shiny city to rust, beyond repair, in no time at all.

spend your hard earned money elsewhere rather than supporting a country where animal and environmental abuse is the norm rather than the exception.

works hard to keep thus rust that lurks below their surface e.g. thousands of stray cats poisoned every year so they do t annoy the tourist. This inherently confirms they’re aware of their own problems but choose to conceal and hide it from touristy rather than attempt to start fixing the actual problem.

The so called “competent authorities” in Cyprus, including the Police, reward animal and women abusers by not enforcing their own laws!

Hoping all these poor animals in Malaga survive this ordeal and find loving homes.

Horses, goats and dogs were among them, many suffering from injuries and disease, according to Operation Neglectus sources
