Our shelter is looking for compassionate volunteers to lend a helping hand to our furry friends. I have been dedicating countless hours every day for the past years, rain or shine, and despite my own physical limitations because the animals depend on me. However, if I continue at this pace, my health issues may force me to step back. Sadly, our shelter does not have the financial resources to hire additional staff, as we receive only a fraction of the support that other organizations do. Therefore, volunteering is essential for the survival of our shelter.
🐾 Are you reliable, patient, and love working with furry friends? Join our small, dedicated team in Tremithousa as a volunteer! 🕒 We need help every day of the week! Morning shift is from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM, and evening shift is from 4:30 PM-6:30 PM. 🧽 Your duties will include feeding, cleaning cages, and dog walking. Meet Zuri, a beautiful girl looking for her forever home! 🌸 Zuri was given to us by her previous family because they recently had a baby and felt she was too naughty and playful for their new family dynamic. They adopted her when she was just 3 months old from a pound, but now she is 8 months old and ready for a fresh start. She is currently in foster care, as we didn’t want to see her end up back in a shelter.
Zuri has a lovely nature and is amazing with kids, dogs, and cats. She is house trained, walks well on the lead, and is a bit reserved in new places - which is understandable given her past experiences. Zuri is a spaniel cross weighing around 7 kgs, and she is healthy and ready to shower her new family with love and affection.

Meet Charlie, who spent more than six months exploring the streets of Paphos, showing off his intelligence and cautious nature. It took some time to finally catch him, but we’re so glad we did! Charlie became part of our family a year ago - he’s a GSD cross, weighing around 26 kilos and at just 2 years old. He gets along well with other dogs, but isn’t a fan of bigger, dominant males. Charlie loves digging holes and investigating his surroundings, so a safe and secure garden is a must for him. He may get a bit carried away with excitement and jump on you, especially if he knows and likes you. Being around younger children requires some supervision as he may forget his own size.
Charlie would thrive in a home with someone who has experience with dogs. It would be best for him to be in a home with only 1-2 other dogs at most, to ensure he gets all the attention he missed while on the streets. Introducing Reggie, the adorable and playful pup we rescued from the vet clinic in April! His previous owner wanted to put him down when he tested positive for leishmania, but don’t worry - it’s a treatable condition and Reggie’s levels and bloods are looking great! Reggie is a 2-year-old Greek hare hound mix, weighing 17 kg. He is a lovable and friendly dog who gets along with other dogs, kids, and even cats!
Reggie loves playing with toys, getting lots of attention, and eating tasty treats. He only needs a pill in the morning and at night, which is affordable and common, and won’t affect his happy and normal life!

Meet Jackson, a sweet senior boy who was saved from a difficult life. Unfortunately, his own brother passed away next to him in their cage because they didn’t receive proper vet care. Jackson is a 9-year-old Malinois who weighs around 34 kilos. Even though he spent his whole life as a “guard dog” in a small cage, he is extremely gentle and loving. It’s clear that he has been mistreated, as he whimpers and becomes frightened to the point of having accidents when approached. However, since coming to our shelter, he has enjoyed sitting on a couch for the very first time and it has quickly become his favorite spot. Now all he dreams of is having a warm couch in a caring home for the rest of his days. If you’re looking for a kind-hearted senior companion, Jackson is the perfect fit for you. Just a quick update on the pointer mom and pups! They have been caught and brought to the shelter, even though we weren’t taking in any more dogs since our court case is next month. But we couldn’t find fosters, so there was no other option. Hera, the mom, has been spayed thanks to the More Spays-Less Strays team, and we are so grateful for their help.
The three pups that are with us now have been named Apollo (the white one), Amber (the cheeky one 😛), and Athena (the little shy one). Unfortunately, we weren’t able to locate or catch the fourth pup, but the people who had been feeding them are still trying, and we hope to reunite the whole family soon!
A big thank you goes to the two kind hearted individuals that donated towards their needs and for the dedication they showed by working tirelessly to rescue these babies from the middle of nowhere. Amelia is a loving old dog who was rescued from the streets a year ago. Even though she is around 10 years old and blind in one eye, she is ready to share love. He weighs only 4.5 kg and loves children and the company of other dogs. To help her find her forever home, Hill's is offering two months of free food and treats. Sadly, the family who had her since she was a puppy didn’t want her anymore after using her multiple times as a breeding machine . Meet Dora, the adorable girl who has been part of our group since February. She was a stray at Paphos airport for a few months before joining us. Dora is blossoming each day, growing in confidence and showing her true personality. She loves playing with Zeus and snuggling up with Jackson. We think she may be a mix of Jack Russell and Beagle, weighing 6-7 kilos and estimated to be 1-2 years old.
Dora was a bit shy at first but has made big strides in opening up to our volunteers. She thrives on attention and affection. She would do best in a calm home with a furry friend to guide her. Dora gets along with cats and walks nicely on a leash. She would also be a great fit for a family with older, gentle kids.

Meet Queenie, the adorable pup who captured our hearts! Queenie was left outside a pet shop a few weeks ago, but thanks to your help, she found a loving foster home quickly. She’s blossomed into a happy, affectionate girl in just a short time! At 4-5 months old, Queenie is a yorkie mix who will stay small as an adult. She’s great on a leash, house trained, and gets along well with dogs, kids, and even cats. She’s truly a wonderful addition to any family! Queenie is up to date on all her vaccinations and has her passport ready to go. She’s ready to be rehomed in Cyprus or the UK. We’re looking for the perfect match for Queenie - a young family with kids and at least one other dog would be ideal for her. She loves playing with her foster siblings and would thrive in a lively household! Meet Rena, the shelter’s boss lady, the alpha dog, and the protector of the pack! Rena has been with us for 1054 days, which is almost 3 whole years of shelter life. She was found in a very bad condition, barely able to stand and pregnant with 10 pups! Rena is around 5 years old, a Gsd cross who weighs around 26 kilos. She requires an experienced family or individual due to past abuse, but once she knows you, she will be your best friend and fiercely protect you. Rena gets along with all dogs as long as they are submissive to her presence, is good with kids, and walks well on a lead. She has leishmania, but it doesn’t affect her in any way all she needs is a pill morning and night. If you’re looking for a truly intelligent and loyal companion, Rena is the one for you!

This handsome boy is Marco, he was rescued from the streets in January. When we found him, he wasn’t feeling his best, but after some treatment for leishmania, he’s now in great shape and thriving. Marco is a litse cyprus hound, weighing in at around 19 kilos and approximately 3 years old. He’s super friendly, adores people, playing with other dogs, and has a knack for digging holes in the yard or snoozing on the trampoline. Marco is truly amazing, and whoever adopts him is in for a treat! Just a simple pill in the morning and evening keeps his leishmania levels in check. Harry, the sweetest guy around! Harry, along with his sister Sally, was rescued from the streets last November. They spent some time in a foster home before coming to the shelter in March because they were getting too big.
This handsome fella is full of confidence, loves to play, and has a calm and gentle nature. Harry enjoys spending his time playing, digging holes, splashing in the pool, and, of course, eating – his favorite activity! He is a Greek hare hound, around 10 months old, and weighs approximately 20 kilos. If you think you could provide Harry with the loving home he deserves, please reach out to us. This charming boy you see here is Snoopy! Snoopy was rescued from the streets, where he was struggling with malnourishment and fleas. Thanks to a kind-hearted woman who fostered him, we were able to bring him into our care once we had space . Snoopy is now a delightful small pointer, weighing around 13kg and is about 11-12 months old! He is incredibly friendly and gets along well with people, kids, and other dogs. Snoopy loves playing with sticks, enjoys fetching toys, digging holes in the yard and craves human company.

‼️⚠️Our shelter is facing an urgent situation that requires immediate attention. Despite our repeated efforts to address the issue, it seems like people are not taking it seriously. Over the years, we have been dragged into numerous court cases and accumulated thousands of euros in fines. We are dedicated to doing good, but we are continuously battling legal challenges, such as the current case where two individuals are wrongly accusing our dogs of constantly barking even if its not them but other dogs from the area. Despite our efforts to reduce the number of animals under our care, we are deeply concerned about the future of these animals if the court rules against us. The thought of them being taken away by government authorities and euthanized is heartbreaking. The court date is set for September, and the stress is becoming overwhelming. We are reaching out for help to rehome as many animals as possible to ensure their safety if god forbid we lose this case. A few days ago, we were pleasantly surprised by a message from a kind lady we do not personally know. She mentioned that a generous gentleman was looking to make donations to various shelters in Cyprus and she recommended us because she follows our social media and appreciates the good work we do. It was truly heartwarming to receive such recognition! Uncertain about what to expect, today we were overjoyed to receive a generous donation of 500€, which we immediately put towards our vet bills. What makes this gesture even more special is that the gentleman wished to remain anonymous and simply wanted to assist us. Dealing with vet bills is an ongoing challenge, particularly after one of our dogs was diagnosed with leishmania today, incurring additional costs. Having the support of caring individuals like this kind gentleman means the world to us. Thank you so much, sir!🫡🐾

This is Bella, the sweet girl who became part of our gang in February, but now she’s living in a foster home! Bella was rescued after falling into a pool thanks to some amazing people. She’s a 2-3 year old Greek hare hound with a gentle temperament. Bella adores being around dogs, cats, and kids, and has a calm and loving personality. Her favorite activities include basking in the sun, getting lots of love and attention, and going on leisurely strolls. Bella was recently diagnosed with leishmania and is undergoing treatment for it, all she requires is a cheap pill morning and night.
Bella would thrive with another furry friend by her side, but she can also adapt as an only pet as long as she gets to socialize with other dogs occasionally. Since Bella is currently in foster care we are dedicated to finding her a forever home so she never has to return to the shelter. To give her an extra push towards a happy life, we’ve decided to lower Bella’s adoption fees. The next freedom flight is on August fourth, so let’s work together to find Bella the perfect home! Home checks will be required, and we’ll be here to provide lifelong support for Bella. Let’s give Bella the loving home she deserves! 💕🐾

Earlier this week, we picked up a full donation tin from the charity shop! We used the money at Paps to get some much-needed supplies for the shelter, as we always do. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all our charity shop volunteers for the incredible work they are doing, and also extend a big thank you to all the kind-hearted individuals who contributed their spare change to the tin for our beloved animals! Hey everyone! We’ve got some fantastic news to share for a change! Remember Keira, the adorable three legged doggo who went to Scotland to be fostered last month? Well, after spending a few days with her, our wonderful foster parents Anna and Danny realized that Keira is such an amazing dog that they just couldn’t bear to let her go. They’ve officially become a “failed foster” - but in the best possible way! We’re so happy that Keira has found her forever home with them and we wish them a lifetime of happiness together. 🐾💕

🚨 URGENT! 🚨 We are in dire need of foster homes for these four adorable pointer puppies and their sweet momma!🐾 They were abandoned in the forest 2 months ago and are understandably timid and scared. Here’s the scoop on Elodie’s MRI report! She has been diagnosed with a rare condition called Dandy Walker Syndrome. We didn’t know much about it at first, but after some research, we learned that it’s an inherited neurological disease. Dogs with this condition show signs of non-progressive neurological dysfunction, which is caused by underdevelopment of a part of the brain called the Cerebellum. This part of the brain is important for coordinated movement. The symptoms include tremors, reduced or absent reflexes, a unique gait, abnormal eye movements, and leaning to one side. Despite these challenges, dogs with Dandy Walker Syndrome can still learn and behave normally. As they grow older, they tend to improve and adapt to their condition. Elodie is a delightful puppy who doesn’t let this syndrome hold her back. She may be a little wobbly and special, but she’s still full of life and enjoys doing all the things that any other pup would do.
Elodie is 6 months old, weighs around 11 kilos and is a mix of Lab and pointer. She’s the last puppy from the cardboard box litter to find a home, possibly due to her “disability”. But we’re hoping for a hero to come forward and see beyond that. We’re looking for a loving 5-star home where she can thrive and receive all the love and support she deserves. Meet Marco, a handsome boy who was rescued from the streets in January. When he was found, he was in a terrible state, but after receiving treatment for leishmania, he is now stable and doing well. Marco is a litse cyprus hound, weighing around 19 kilos and is approximately 3 years old. He is very social, loves people, playing with other dogs, and enjoys digging holes in the yard or sleeping on the trampoline. Marco is an amazing boy, and whoever adopts him will be very lucky! It’s weird to think that 9 out of 10 people that volunteer or visit our shelter always comment on the fact that our location is perfect. In an industrial area far away from houses or any residential area. Everyone assumes that no neighbours equals no complaints. To the contrary thought they’re all shocked to find out there’s still people determined to spread their hate and proof their idiocy. Both locals and Brits living in the nearby village continue to fight our cause for reasons far beyond my comprehension. Dragging to court every other month when we’re probably one of the quietest shelters out there, with people always commenting on how they had no idea we were here so long, because they’ve never even heard our dogs in the area. Meanwhile it blows my mind that hunting dog keepers all around this area squeeze more than 10 dogs in a single cage, struggling and barking in this unbearable heat, but no one bats an eye. Everyone is appalled when they see and hear the animal abuse that goes on in this country in the name of the cruellest “sport” ever, if killing wildlife killing and the ethics surrounding it can even be called that. Update on our parvo survivor‼️ Just on time before the day ended , we had an amazing offer for a foster home for this little guy! An old supporter and friend moved back to paphos permanently and messaged to offer a safe space for our little fighter! Safe to say everything worked out in the end and this pup is definitely very very lucky! Thank you for saving the day Daniel👏🐕🙌

⚠️Update on the sick puppy that was left at the shelter on Thursday ⚠️ The good news is that our baby boy had been very lucky to make it through this and can leave the vet clinic tomorrow, the bad news is that we have nowhere to take him and he obviously cannot come to the shelter as he is still contagious to the other puppies ! We urgently seeking for a foster home , preferably with adult fully vaccinated dogs or even better without other dogs at all! This poor girl is Lisa and this is the sad reality she is living everyday! Lisa was found in the streets six months ago and she is at the shelter since then, nobody ever asked about her which is very sad but i am sure everyone that visited since then remembers her, after all all she is the only skinny looking dog we have and this is why, this is all she is doing when she is put away running back and forth non stop! She is not happy in the shelter and unfortunately her weight will never improve under this conditions, we have done what we could we have checked her health wise and even if she is skinny she is a very healthy dog , she is on special food since she came and even that didn’t help her.
