Announcing the Cool Critters adoption procedure! Due to the high volume of adoption requests we receive, we have decided to implement a new adoption procedure to help us find the perfect fit for each and every animal. If y

ou see an animal you are interested in adopting, or would like to be considered for adoption in general, you will need to fill out our adoption application. We will review these applications and choose candidates we feel are best suited to match with the personalities and needs of the animals available for adoption. These candidates will then be invited for a round of meet and greets, after which the final decision on adoption will be made. Being first to fill out an application will not guarantee you will be chosen. You will be considered again when another pup or kitty that seems to be a potential match comes through our doors. Sweet Bert who has FCoV (Feline Coronavirus), which affects Bertie's digestive system, needs to have a dental surgery.

Bert found an amazing home with the lovely Ghislaine. The pair are inseparable and love each other deeply. Unfortunately, these last two months he's been struggling with a couple of infections that have led to multiple vet visits and antibiotics. Everything seems to be related to the teeth. Back at the end of last year we asked for donations for Lele kitty who had to have surgery on her leg. You generously donated and Lele got her surgery 😻 But the surgery didn't completely work and Lele had to go through a second surgery 😢 Your generosity again enabled this to happen 😻
After the second surgery things were not so plain sailing as we would have wished. Her wound became infected and it took the wonderful care of her owners to bring her back to full health 😍 We are pleased with Lele's new found mobility but still aware that she may need surgery on her second hind leg in the future. Here's a little video of Lele walking the 'catwalk' to show you what a top model she is 💕

Hello Jaq, just wanted to update you about Bertie. He's just the best cat in the whole world. Unfortunately, these last two months he's been struggling with a couple of infections that have led to multiple vet visits and antibiotics. It's breaking my heart ❤️, but today we got back from another visit and it looks like it all could be related to his teeth; one tooth, in particular, looks like they tried to extract it but left the root in, and it's now inflamed and could be causing his infection problems. It's very likely he will need dental surgery soon, and I remember you were saying that Cool Critters could help assist with the cost (around 8000 czk). Obviously, I'm not expecting anything or even close to that amount, but I wanted to see if there would be any assistance I might be eligible for?

We knew when he had his teeth removed that there might still be a root left and we told Ghislaine we would pay any dental costs that came along. Can we help Bertie to finally be free of pain? 🙏

This is Carrot Cake, she's one of the 11 cats we recently took from Stod (she's Stod 2 to be exact).

Carrot cake is very still very shy, but very gentle when you pick her up for cuddles. Like most of the Stod cats she's suffering from eye problems. Carrot cake will soon have an appointment for an eye surgery.

Phenamaletten (which Tina takes for epilepsy) has been out of production since October. It was supposed to resume in January and her owners had managed to stockpile enough. Now it’s just been announced the new date is June!! So we are scrambling to find the pills anywhere we can. Pharmacies don’t have it anymore 😞

Meet Honey (ginger female) and Sparky (ginger male), 4 months old, they are microchipped, vaccinated and tested negative for FIV and FeLV. They are still too young to be yet castrated.

Honey and Sparky are two wonderful and beautiful ginger kitten siblings. 😻 Honey and Sparky are still a bit shy, but both are very gentle and start purring when you pick them up for cuddles.

After the Christmas holidays our hallway was filled with boxes from donations and it was actually an assault course 🙈 All items needed to be photographed so we had to wait until there were enough people to unpack, arrange, photograph and put everything in its place for storage. Ranger is STILL looking for his forever home! ❤
He is in Prague in foster care and can be visited there.

Meet RANGER, male, 2 years old, medium size 21.5 kg. He is vaccinated, castrated, dewormed, anti-parasite treated and microchipped.

Ranger is a gentle and super cuddly boy.🥰 He is a true sweetheart who is shy at first around strangers, but once he warms up to someone he is the best cuddle partner in the world. Ranger is unfortunately very scared of kids, he would never do anything other than running away, but for now a home without kids will be best for him.

Ranger is good and non-conflict with other dogs. He is also fine with cats.🐾 Ranger is right now in Prague in foster care and can be visited there. His fosters are saying that Ranger is well behaved, he loves to sleep with them in the bed, he is house trained, he is calm inside and he walks well on the leash. Ranger is scared of city noises and when there is too many people, so a life on the countryside or on the outskirts of a city is best for Ranger.

Ranger is right now in Prague in foster care and can be visited there.

The eleven cats from Stod have now all been to the vet and most have received antibiotics for their eyes and colds. Administration of eye drops 4-5 times daily is a part time job in itself 😞 But we manage 💪

SUMMER is looking for his forever home!!

Meet SUMMER, male, 1.5 years old, Retriever-Saluki mix, medium size 20 kg. He is vaccinated, castrated, dewormed, anti-parasite treated and microchipped.
Summer has dysplasia of both hips stage 1, spine and knees are healthy, he needs to be kept at light weight and take CBD/MSM Alavis supplements. Summer shows no signs of discomfort, you wouldn't notice the hip dysplasia at all.

Summer is a gentle und smart boy. 🥰 He is great with people and also fine with kids, but typical for a Saluki it takes a little while until someone gains his full trust. Summer is cuddly and loves to go for walks and hikes. Summer travels very well in the car.

Summer was abandoned on the street when he was still a puppy. Probably due to his difficult past Summer goes for his hind leg when something is very stressful for him. He grabs his leg with his mouth, but he doesn't bite himself. Summer is right now in foster care in Prague and his foster mom is saying that Summer has basically no triggers anymore. The only time when she witnesses triggers is when Summer sleeps, probably when he's having a bad dream.

Other than that Summer is a happy and affectionate boy, who is looking for an experienced owner. Typical for a Saluki Summer is stubborn. He tends to be a bully on the leash and picky when it comes to other dogs, but Summer responds well to trainings. Summer is ok with cats.🐾

He is completely house trained, doesn't destroy anything, knows basic commands, listens to his name and knows the leash.

We definitely offer foster care before adopting.

Cuddle bug Nick is still looking for his forever home or an experienced foster! 🐾

Nick loooves people, he is energetic and playful, but he is quite afraid of other dogs and growls and barks to keep them as far away as possible from him.

Last weekend we took in eleven cats from Stod, a town near Pilsen. The organization Fousky zs shared a request for help, and since we had space, we were happy to help.

Two of the newcomers are just kittens. Of the nine adults, seven are males and two are females, all Gingers! We are only slowly starting to recognize who is who.

All the new arrivals had fleas and ear mites and were given Nexgard Combo right away. Nine of them received antibiotics for discharge from their eyes and nose. Six of them are unneutered. So far, nine have tested negative for FIV FeLV and have been microchipped. All will be vaccinated once they have passed quarantine and are completely healthy. Unfortunately, two of the cats need to have their eyes removed and one unneutered male has an undescended testicle.

Costs are already rising and bills will be high, so we would be very grateful for your help 🙏

Our downstairs rooms are heated with wood. In winter we basically live in two rooms during the day, the kitchen and the 'critter' room.

These bundles are the leftovers from sawing planks. The outside of the tree. Which means there is lots of bark, which is wonderful because it makes starting the fire so much easier. These can be easily cut with a saw.

Because the wood needs to dry we need to order four packs for next year. At 2300 czk a pack they are a very good price.

So, two things.

Firstly we need to buy the wood so we have started a project on Psí přání for 10200 czk to buy four packs and delivery. Even a tiny amount would help us 🙏

This is Houdini, he's one e of the 11 cats we took from Stod (he's Stod 10 to be exact). Houdini is a big boy. He's calm and very cuddly, a really special 🐈. We named him Houdini because he's specialized in opening doors and escaping. One day he managed to escape and we couldn't find him for a whole day 🙀 ... luckily, we were able to trap him. Houdini was all black, because he was hiding somewhere up in the chimney. 🫣 Now that he's back he can start to recover from his eye infection, an infection almost all Stod cats came with. So far the care of our Stod kitties has been very cost-intensive. Gorgonzola and Mozzarella arrived to Cool Critters when they were about 10 weeks old with their mother Sakura. Normally kittens get adopted quickly and the momma's are left waiting for a home. Sakura went home after being here for three weeks, Mozzarella and Gorgonzola have been waiting nearly 5 months 😢 We just don't understand why they haven't found a home 😢 They are the most adorable pair. Many kittens have arrived and gone in the time they have been here and it's heartbreaking watching them grow up when other kittens have found their forever home.
