How many did you count? 🤩
This is our favourite way of practicing related jumps without really jumping.

What started from taking it off from one horse, quickly went to taking it off from all.
And starting the young ones without so they have never experienced having a noseband.
I can confidently say that most horses prefer no noseband and become less “mouthy” without it.
It is a lot in the hands of the rider but at the same time it gives the rider a new feel as the horse will show signs of discomfort much faster.
I have found it very important to have a bridle that sits steadily while jumping. A bridle that won’t move around the horse’s head in action.
Have you tried to ride without the noseband?
What is your experience?

Not long ago I didn’t want to train any horses unless they were shoed. Or I used flash noseband on most of the horses. These were the beliefs I had at the time.
And what I believe today might change when I discover something new. Only fools don’t change their mind when the circumstances change. That is something I live by with horses.
I have learned that there is no right or wrong way with the horses. What I believe to be right today, might change tomorrow when I have more information available.
Don’t stay stuck with ideas just because you once believed it to be right.
Adjust when needed. And don’t feel like you failed just because something you said or believed turned out the be “wrong” .

His eyes and ears show so much of how is trying to understand the new feeling and if he is getting it right. He is asking all the way if he is getting it right and as soon as I move on, he goes : “I think it got it!”
They don’t need much to understand.
Just patience to explain what is asked from them.
They want to please you, I promise. It is in their dna, they are herd animals and it is their natural instinct to cooperate with other beings.

There are million and one ways to start a horse and my way is slowly. Taking the time with each step.
Letting the horse breathe and think. Just one step at the time. Like the old saying goes “If you want to go fast, go slow”
In my experience this is the best way to summarise the very start of a riding horse - go slow to go fast.
Follow along with me and Code Red - my very own youngster, from all the way from the first steps to educating her to be a future show jumper 🔥

Can you count the strides in these takes? 🤩
I love these simple exercises and I am so proud of Massimo trying his hardest to keep himself together for me ❤️
He naturally has a big stride and it has taken a lot of time for him to be able to lengthen-shorten his canter.
This is never ending work but I feel like we are getting it slowly 🐎
Using poles instead of jumps, let’s me practice different setups often and it is my favourite way working with all my horses.
How often do you work with poles?

I had a very nice and informative call with @jemmifer co-founder of @ryde.equestrian .
I wanted to hear what we as riders need to know about balancing the Ryde stirrups.
The key points were:
There is no right or wrong, only what feels right to you.
Left and right stirrup can have different settings.
Small adjustments can go a long way.
Thank you @ryde.equestrian once again for this opportunity, it really helped me to make the last small adjustments to the stirrups for optimal fit.

This year I have set myself a goal to make small improvements in all aspects of my life and around the horses, that put together make a big difference.
Stirrups is one of the “small improvements” .
Today was my second day trying the stirrups from @ryde.equestrian and wow what a difference they make.
I normally have pain and sensitivity in my Achilles tendon while riding and especially after riding.
I didn’t have that today.
I also felt so much stability in my leg compared to other stirrups I have tried. So far they feel amazing.
This is my very personal opinion and not influenced at all.
