Ready to transfer the ICSI embryo? In this case - NO! 4 days after ovulation the ICSI embryo is transfered to the recipient mare. In the morning, at the day of the transfer, we make sure that the recipient are ready to receive the embryo before the ICSI embryo is thawed. During the examination of the recipient we evaluate the quality of the corpus luteum (CL) which is responsible for the progesteron production and the quality of the uterus. At the day of the transfer we like to find a “firm” uterus with absolutely no fluid… As you can see it was not the case in this video - so the ICSI embryo stays safe in the nitrogen tank until the conditions are optimal. Patience is the key of succes!

Embryo pulsing❤️ Continued expansion and contraction of an ICSI blastocyst! The underlying mechanism of pulsing is still not completely clear. Our colleagues at @ucdvetart have done some interesting research showing that this is both seen in in vitro and in vivo embryos🤓📗

Hvorfor er vi SÅ begejstrede for vores time-lapse inkubator🤷🏼♀️? Denne inkubator er speciel! Med et integreret kamera og en mikroskoplinse tager den billeder af de befrugtede æg og embryonernes udvikling med få minutters mellemrum📸 De færdige billeder behandles ved hjælp af software, der kombinerer billederne og skaber en såkaldt time-lapse video🎥. Hvad kan vi så bruge det til❓I embryonernes udvikling har man fokus på tidspunktet for en række vitale faser (eks. den første celledeling). Embryonet dyrkes under nogle meget kontrollerede vækstforhold. Uden at skulle “forstyrre” embryonet ved at tage det ud og ind af inkubatoren med det stress, det kan medføre, kan vi nu opnå en masse værdifuld information om disse vitale faser, som er så afgørende for embryonets udvikling🤩 Måske med tiden kan kunstig intelligens være med til at evaluere embryonerne - hvem ved☺️🤷🏼♀️❓
