A special horseback riding trek this weekend ....

Let's go and have an awesome day out with horse trainer Christian this weekend!
For this weekend only, he is inviting riders of all levels ( maximum of 5 each ride ) on a new schedule through the everglades and hills of San Joaquin, along the Tomebamba river and up the mountain where you'll get to see a fabulous view of the city of Cuenca.

Saturday will be reserved for all levels on a two and a half hour trail, and Sunday will be for those with more experience who want to ride at their own pace. ( This is a three hour trail that takes you to the top to the "Treehouse ", a unique initiative built by a local businessman.)
The ride will begin at 10am for approximately 2-3 hours, so make your way to JEP Banco at San Joaquin, this is where we will meet you and take you across the road to where the horses will be saddled up and waiting. All the taxi drivers will know where the JEP Bank is, average cost will be around $3.
Please let us know your level of riding - Novice riding skills,or intermediate/experienced...
And a nice surprise today :
At the end of the ride, your host, Jane, will treat you to lunch ( free of charge ) on her private property on Ordonez Lasso, so it's time to just relax with a coffee, beer, wine, stay as long as you like and we will get you a taxi home!

On booking you will receive further information and details of the day, bookings for the weekend MUST close at 12pm Friday....

Includes your ride and lunch.

Horseback ride, this Saturday, with San Joaquin Riding..

Let’s go on another great horseback ride tomorrow, Saturday 13th Nov...

It’s always a new and exciting experience to ride horseback in the Andes and “San Joaquin Riding” invites you to join in on one of Christian’s great treks around the countryside of San Joaquin.

Although some of our rides do require experienced only riders, this Saturday Nov 13th , Christian will take all levels of riding skills on a leisurely stroll, or if you prefer a faster pace you are welcome to go ahead!

There are a few minor changes to our usual schedule this weekend.

Make your way to our meeting point at the JEP Banco, San Joaquin by 9-30am.
This is where we will meet you and walk across the ride where the horses will be saddled and waiting.

All the taxi drivers will know where this bank is…

The ride will begin at 9:30 for approximately 2 and a half to 3 hours,

Lunch is around 12:30 PM and you will be served in a lovely family owned, licensed restaurant just up from the San Joaquin Golf Course.

When lunch is over, our private van will deliver you straight to your home so please provide your contact details and home address when you book, thanks!

We have some great rides coming up this weekend, Sat and Sun 17th and 18th July.. and you're invited to come along on our horseback riding treks.
San Joaquin Riding welcomes riders of all levels and this weekend we are going to make a few changes to our usual program.

On Saturdays, for the newbies and all those just wanting a nice quiet amble and maybe a few quicker steps, make your way to our meeting point at the JEP Bank, San Joaquin.
We will meet you there at 9.30am and walk across the road to the field where our horses are saddled and waiting.

On Sundays, for the more experienced and riders wanting a quicker pace, we will take a new trail through the areas of Banos and San Joaquin.

Just let us know your level of riding and if you prefer a Saturday or a Sunday ride, we can be flexible on those days.
(Again, the meeting point will be at the JEP Bank in San Joaquin, all taxi drivers will know where the drop off point is.)
Our driver will drop you off at your home address after lunch, approximately 2pm.

Our first ride up into the fabulous Caja Mountains, and guess who brought along some nice hot canelazo, thanks Christian!
( For the uninitiated, that's the Ecuadorian moonshine beverage!)
Very cold up there most days and this was the first experience we had with real mountain horses, no bridles, just halters and they idle along at their own pace...

Our ride on Saturday 3rd July takes us up into the Caja mountains, a huge area that can't be missed!
This is a new ride and we recommend that only intermediate and experienced riders join us.
Take your jacket and a backpack with snacks and water if you wish!

San Joaquin Riding invites experienced riders this Saturday 3rd July...

There's a new trail we're going to on Saturday and it's called the Cajas Frontier Ride!

This ride will only be suitable for intermediate and experienced riders, and will take approximately 3 to 3 and a half hours, (on booking you will receive more information and photos.)

Anyone for canelazo? Christian may just surprise you on Saturday!

Transport and the ride is included in the price : $45
Lunch and snacks are optional and are available at the restaurant at the conclusion of the ride....

Your day will begin by being picked up at Supermaxi, Las Americas at 9am and taken to the fields opposite the JEP Bank in San Joaquin where the horses will be saddled up and waiting for you. When you book, just let us know your level of riding so we can set you up with the appropriate horse, like us, they all have their own personalities!
Beginners are welcome!

The ride will begin at 9.30am for approx 2-3 hours, depending on which trail is chosen for the day, but each ride goes through different villages where the locals always get excited when we ride through, and the scenery is definately worth the travel up into the mountains.
Lunch is around 12.30 and we will be served in a lovely, family owned ,licensed restaurant just up from the San Joaquin Golf Course.: Campana Huaico Restaurante

We paid another visit to the Treehouse, but no one was there.
(Probably due to the fact it was voting day for the new President..)

Thanks to Kim and Ari for riding our horses back to the field after lunch!

Horseback Riding this Sunday 11th April....
Christian from San Joaquin Riding is taking us on a new and awesome trail ride this Sunday,so come and join us on our adventure way up into the Cajas mountains...
The views are unbelievable, there's just so much to see in this beautiful area of lakes where flora and fauna abound in abundance.
This is a once in a lifetime trip all seen while you're riding, no walking here today....
The ride is suitable for all riders, sensible riding gear is recommended, boots, perhaps a backpack with water and snacks, ( we stop for food though.)
On booking we will send you further tips for the ride, but definate bookings are appreciated by 5pm on Friday, gracias.
Time: 9am until approx 4pm..
Cost: $45 includes the ride and pickup ( at Supermaxi, Las Americas ) by our private bus and drop off to your home after the ride.

And when the ride is over, the helpers come out.
Unsaddlling, giving the horses showers and tethering them all takes a lot of time, and I met one of the paid helpers today!
He lives on the property with his parents...
