Thank You for Making a Difference!
When the recent storm devastated our shelter, we faced an urgent crisis—moving every dog to safety, replacing spoiled food, transporting animals, and covering critical vet care. The costs were overwhelming, but your generosity made all the difference.
Thanks to your donations—both financial and in-kind—we were able to secure a safe, dry place for the dogs and cover the costs of:
✅ A moving truck and workers
✅ Fencing for protection
✅ Essential medication and vet care
✅ Food and supplies
We are also deeply grateful for the generous donations of leashes, collars, blankets, dog bones and dog beds. These much-needed supplies ensured that every rescued dog had warmth, comfort, and security.
Your kindness even helped support the incredible workers who carried supplies along narrow ridges - like the one in our video, where a worker hauls a fridge on his back!
Now, we need your help to recover. Our next goal is to pay off the remaining vet bills and replenish resources to continue rescuing animals in need.
💛 Join us at the Saturday Market on February 8, 2025! We’ll have delicious homemade panela cookies, apple pie, jams, and chutneys—all proceeds go directly to caring for the animals.
Because of you, these dogs are safe. Because of you, we can keep saving lives. Thank you for being part of this mission!

Help Us Rebuild After the Help us Rebuild After the Storm!
Help us rebuild after the storm!
Dear Friends and Animal Lovers,
In the wake of a devastating storm, our small dog shelter was destroyed. The heartache of seeing the destruction was only matched by the incredible determination of the Ecuadorian volunteers and workers who stepped up in this time of crisis. Their quiet and steady rescue mission was nothing short of awe-inspiring: walking through deep mud and water, carrying heavy fencing and 30-pound propane tanks over 1.5 kilometers of narrow, slippery paths, and gently transporting frightened dogs to safety. These selfless individuals remind us of the power of community and compassion.
Now, we turn to you, our extended community, for support. To rebuild and ensure the safety and well-being of these rescued dogs, we need your help. Here’s how you can make a difference:
• Donate funds to cover transportation, veterinary care, and construction costs.
• Contribute supplies such as food, blankets, leashes, collars, and harnesses.
You can drop off donations at:
• UFO (donation box)
• La Baguette(donation box)
• AMI Vet Dr. Marianne's clinic (donation and supply drop-off) El Hatillo entre Bolivar y Valle Sagrado
• Tienda Andre on the main road in Vilcabamba (supply drop-off)
Your generosity will directly impact the lives of these vulnerable animals and help us maintain a safe haven for them. Together, we can overcome this challenge and continue our mission to protect and care for abandoned and neglected animals.
Thank you for opening your hearts to this cause. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to a brighter future for these dogs.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Amigos de Animales
Amigos de Animales is faced with an emergency as two nights ago the river destroyed a refuge which sheltered 11 dogs and 4 puppies. Thankfully only two dogs sustained minor injuries but they are traumatized and they have been evacuated and taken to a new location.
If anyone can donate, however small an amount, to replace dog beds, blankets, food dishes, bags of dog food, roofing, dog houses and fencing, Amigos, made up of a handful of Ecuadorians and expats would be tremendously grateful.
You can find donation boxes at UFO, La Baguette, or Dr Mariana’s vet clinic. And see us at the market this Saturday as we've been busy baking and cooking up delights to raise money.
We also need:
* clean blankets
* collars
* leashes
* cleaning supplies
* bucket
* mop
* broom
* volunteer carpenters to make simple dog houses.
Thank you on behalf of the dogs!
These puppies were found in a box abandoned by the river. Amigos de Animales needs your help now to buy their food, blankets and flea and tick treatments. Please help by donating at La Baguette, UFO or GAO veterinarians. These are now healthy and playful puppies who are getting over their trauma. Please consider adopting one or two. They will repay you with joy and protection.
