Dr Aleksandr Semjonov is a veterinary anaesthesiologist, Chief Clinical Officer of the Institute of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences of Estonian University of Life Sciences, and chief research fellow of Wildlife Pharmaceuticals South Africa. He defended his PhD thesis in use of butorphanol-azaperone-medetomidine combination in different animal species. Dr Semjonov researches novel anaesthet

ics in different species of wild animals and has a special interest in the anesthesia of large carnivores, large ruminants, marine mammals (including walruses and dolphins), rhinos, giraffes and elephants. Besides of providing clinical services in anaesthesia, he is well known lecturer worldwide.
