Street Pawrents
After our interview with “Shatta” a few months ago about the street kitten he takes care of and affectionately named “Fola”, we met Naama, a parking attendant working near Al Agha Restaurant in Dokki. We hope to film a few more of these interviews which we will call “Street Pawrents”.
Meet Naama, a dog and bird lover who feeds and cares for a few stray dogs in her area who have all been named. She even lets them sleep with her on her modest sidewalk “bed” 🥰
Naama is a hero who should be commended for her kindness and love for these beautiful babies. If you’re ever in the neighborhood, please feel free to bring her some leftovers for the dogs and some bird food for the pigeons and doves she feeds.

🚨URGENT: Poor pup needs knee surgery🚨
This poor boy was hit by a bulldozer at the beginning of this month that resulted in a broken knee, pelvis and hip. My very kind friend took him to the vet and collected enough for his pelvic/hip surgery but he still can’t walk because of his broken knee.
His knee surgery is scheduled in 2 days and we need your help to collect the funds for it (it will cost EGP 9,500 of which EGP 4,000 was already collected). Let’s help cover the remaining EGP 5,500 to help this poor baby walk again!
If you would like to contribute to his surgery, please DM us.
Meet the 3 little warrior princesses - Zelda (Spanish for grey fighting maid), Xena (from the ‘90s series Xena: Warrior Princess) and Nikita (Greek for unconquered).
These 3 beauties were rescued from the street over a month ago after their mother passed away suddenly (they were around 10-15 days old). They were nursed every 3 hours for around 3 weeks until they were old enough to eat wet food drenched in lactose-free baby formula. At around week 3, their little brother contracted calicivirus and unfortunately passed away 😿 But these little fighters made it through and are now thriving, are super playful and very affectionate. They are now looking for a loving family to take them to their forever home.
👫 Great with adults
👨👧 Not tested with kids
🚽 Litter trained
🧆 Eat dry and wet food
💊 Dewormed
💉 Will be vaccinated when they’re old enough

Every day I leave food and water for the birds. Today I was late in serving their breakfast and the cats got a show!#birds #birdfeeders #catsofinstagram #kittens #adoptdontshop🐾 #feedanimals #catsandbirds #kindnesstoanimals #kindness #kindnessmatters
On a morning walk yesterday, I found this beautiful dove sitting on the sidewalk with his left wing unusually spread out away from his body. As I approached him, he still didn’t move so I gently placed him in a cardboard box to remove him from the dangers of possible predators and so I would have something to carry him in to The Pet Vet in Heliopolis where Dr. Mohamed examined him. Luckily there were no broken bones but the injury on his wing required some cleaning. This little guy is now temporarily staying in a cat carrier with plenty of food and water while he recovers. Once he’s fit to fly, he will be released in the same area where he was found. Wishing this little beauty a speedy recovery ❤️
This is Angel. Angel fell hard from a very high fence…the sound of her fall haunts me still 😔 Though we rushed her to the vet and got her immediate medical care, unfortunately we couldn’t save her 😢 Rest in peace sweet girl - you’re in a better place now.
This is the hardest part of animal rescue. The heartbreaking part. But that shouldn’t stop us from trying to help these beautiful babies. Thanks to Dr. Esraa and Dr. Aya of the British Animal Hospital Garden city for taking such good care of this sweet pea and for trying to save her life ❤️

It’s been exactly 1 month and a day since Barghouta came into our lives and today she celebrated with a bath to escape the heat in Cairo 🥰 It’s amazing what she’s capable of all on her own. This little fledgling is getting cuter and more beautiful by the day!#birdsofinstagram #birds #rescue #sparrow #babysparrow #cairo #babybirds #birdrescue #rescuebird #rescuebirdsofinstagram #wildlife #wildliferescue #animalrescuer #egyptwildlife #baladidog #baladicat #animalwelfare #animalawareness #egypt #alexandria #cutebirds #birdreels #birdlovers #birdrelease
When it’s nap time, Barghouta has different sleeping poses. These are a few of my favorites 🥰. #birdsofinstagram #babybirds #sleepybird #sleepybirdie #birdrescue #rescuebird #rescuebirdsofinstagram #sparrow #wildlife #wildliferescue #animalrescuer #egyptwildlife #baladidog #baladicat #animalwelfare #animalawareness #egypt #cairo #alexandria #cutebirds #birdreels #birdlovers #birdrelease
Today Barghouta got to discover a lot more in the grass! She pecked at a grass blade, ate her food on her own and spread her wings a little more. She’s also becoming quite affectionate and stayed perched on my finger, arm and shoulder for some time 🥰 I’m still quite amazed at this little one’s consistant progress. #birdsofinstagram #babybirds #birdrescue #rescuebird #rescuebirdsofinstagram #sparrow #wildlife #wildliferescue #animalrescuer #egyptwildlife #baladidog #baladicat #animalwelfare #animalawareness #egypt #cairo #alexandria #cutebirds #birdreels #birdlovers #birdrelease
Whenever Barghouta sees my finger, she immediately starts to peck at it. Why? Because that’s how I’ve been feeding her over the past few weeks 🥰 But she needs to be able to feed on her own so today I placed her food in the cage bowl and let her serve herself. At first she didn’t know what to do so I guided her by placing my finger (the original food source) inside the bowl. Eventually she realized where her meal was and helped herself 😊 #birdsofinstagram #babybirds #birdrescue #rescuebird #rescuebirdsofinstagram #sparrow #wildlife #wildliferescue #animalrescuer #egyptwildlife #baladidog #baladicat #animalwelfare #animalawareness #egypt #cairo #alexandria #cutebirds #birdreels #birdlovers #birdrelease
Since Barghouta is growing fast, her “training” needs to start so she knows what to do once she’s released. Today, she got to experience the outdoors firsthand by standing in some grass 😊She was a bit nervous to be out of her cage at first, and just stood there to take it all in. I tried to feed her by placing her food on the grass, but she just wanted to feel the ground beneath her feet so I let her enjoy her time for a few minutes before placing her back in her cage. She ate well then 😊
Remember this little 1.5 month old with the eye infection? Well thanks to the incredible care of @british_animal_hospital_egypt in Dokki, she’s all better 🥰 she was returned to the same place where she was found today and though she was scared at the beginning, she found her way back to what was familiar to her. We also saw her at night and she was fed with the other regulars around the area 😊
It’s day 14 of life with Barghouta and it’s as interesting as ever 🥰 she tried eating dates on her own - a tough endeavor but she managed! She also ran up to my shoulder for the first time and is starting to fly short (but longer) distances 🥰 This little one seems to be in a hurry to grow up and “leave the nest”!
Since Barghouta started escaping from the cat carrier I had her stay in, I had to get her a cage to ensure her safety…especially since I have cats! She’s really enjoying the perching sticks and is able to hop/flutter to each level 😊 she’s also staring to peck more so the next step will be to place her in a garden to see if she can hunt for worms. This little one is really growing fast and is getting ready for her release day 🥰
Day 12: We’re seeing more feathers and Barghouta is starting to get some height with her fluttering (still not flying though). Her appetite is as healthy as ever and she’s still quite vocal 😊
On Day 11 Barghouta discovered that she can fit through the carrier door 🤦🏽♀️ She’s also getting better at nibbling on pieces of whole fruit on her own and is starting to peck at the bits of food that fall out of her beak 🥰 Today we added a mashed hard boiled egg (including the shell) to some softened dry food for cats. This little one is really growing and thriving ❤️
Barghouta is growing and adding to her repertoire of milestones 🥰 Today she ate a piece of cantaloupe all on her own, continues to be vocal when she’s hungry while adding more love bites to the hunger mix, her feathers are growing and she’s slowly gaining flight with her fluttering! It looks like her release date is quickly approaching 🥰
Another first for Barghouta on Day 9 is her ability to peck at whole pieces of banana 😊 she’s also fluttering a lot and looks like she will take flight soon.
Day 8 was filled with firsts 😊 Barghouta enjoyed the addition of bananas to her menu, started grooming, stretched her wings and started scratching herself! This little one is continuing to progress very nicely 🥰
Barghouta is growing and makes her voice heard when she’s hungry 🥰 Her feathers are also starting to fill in and grow.
