Join us in this fantastic ride, in 5 days riding with 2 days on a mini trail and visits to Mérida and
Cáceres, World Heritage Sites by UNESCO.
The trail is based in the lovely town of Trujillo and during your stay you will enjoy 2
interesting visits to the most important towns in Extremadura: CÁCERES and MÉRIDA,
both World Heritage Sites by UNESCO. Mérida, is a real spectacle! with its complex that
includes the Roman theatre and amphitheatre built in 8 BC. Cáceres which medieval
center is a UNESCO world heritage site, delimited by Arab walls, cobbled medieval
streets, fortified homes and Renaissance palaces.
In addition to these incredible sites, the region contains exceptional wildlife and natural
landscapes which you will discover on horseback. During your stay you will enjoy 2 full
days riding and 3 half days riding.
The landscape during the ride is spectacular, holm and cork oaks woods and pastures,
called Dehesa, the most emblematic landscape in Extremadura.
A great combination of excellent riding, having fun in Trujillo and some amazing
historical visits in Trujillo, Mérida and Cáceres.

Blue sky and sunshine, enjoying today the varied terrain from pine forests to high mountains where Tormes river starts with amazing views of the valley. Delicious lunch followed by siesta and good canters in the afternoon. Looking forward to tomorrow, last day of the season!

Today we rode in direction to the highest mountains with stunning views of Gredos in the sunshine, riding up Barbellido gorge with stunning views and down to Puente de las Juntas. Stop for an excellent lunch, pop up restaurant appears suddenly just when is needed! After a relaxing lunch stop and siesta, in the afternoon riding along the pine woods to end a wonderful day!

Excellent day on our Crystalline Waters of Gredos ride! We had the best views of Gredos Mountains, lovely riding, excellent meal with birthday cake! Happy birthday to Mary Ellen 🥂 thank you everyone for a memorable day!

DAY 5- GREDOS TO SALAMANCA Already in Salamanca town 🥂! FInal day of riding, today was a half day of riding along the Eastern lands of the province with beautiful and clear horizons, lunch near Alba de Tormes. Always sad to say goodbye to the horses, who travelled back home by truck and time in the afternoon for the group to visit Salamanca (WHS by Unesco), walking along the streets of this historic town, visiting the most important monuments: one of the oldest universities in the world, the 2 cathedrals, Roman bridge, the Plaza Mayor with its arcades is particularly impressive. Thank you very much everyone for joining us in this fantastic trip 👏👏🤠

DAY 4- GREDOS TO SALAMANCA RIDE: Magnificent views from the Castle of El Mirón in the morning, we rode rest of the day through the Dehesas of Salamanca with holm oaks woods, bulls, and black Iberian pigs. Excellent lunch with cake to celebrate a birthday in the group 🎂. Funny canters through the Dehesa to Horcajo Medianero. Horses spend the night in the fields of monastery of Valdejimena, a magical place. Dinner at night at hotel in the village. Great day with many excitements! Tomorrow we will get Salamanca, looking forward to it!

DAY 3- GREDOS TO SALAMANCA RIDE amaizing day with rolling autumnal landscape, especially at sunset! We have already left the mountains behind, descending the Corneja river since its source to a more
open valley with . Exquisite lunch with great views. Nice afternoon with canters along beautiful countryside to end a fantastic day!

DAY 2- GREDOS TO SALAMANCA RIDE
A day with great contrasts in the landscape riding along 3 different valleys! Today the ride started in
the valley of the Tormes River, open flat valley until we reach tapas break, exquisite tapas and drinks appear around the corner, just when a break was needed! After the break, we followed to the Alberche river valley descending to San Martin de la Vega for lunch, another of our gourmet lunches served al fresco on table
clothes and chairs in beautiful surroundings. In the afternoon up to the Puerto de Chia- about
1,900m altitude- with a panoramic view of the Corneja Valley on one side, and the Alberche River
on the other side. In the afternoon descending a Roman road to Navacepedilla de Corneja, where the horses spend the night. Transfer to Piedrahita for dinner and night in a charming rural hotel. Looking forward to tomorrow

DAY 1- GREDOS TO SALAMANCA RIDE- Warm autumn colours 🍂❤🧡💛 🍂, beautiful scenery on our first day going to Salamanca from Gredos Mountains! This is a great ride which combines great riding along the Natural Park of Sierra de Gredos, through the Tormes, Alberche and Corneja river valleys ending with a half day spent in spectacular Salamanca, one of the World Heritage Cities of Spain with one of the oldest universities in the world 🌎

DAY 7- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE after 7 days riding we got our base in Trujillo (Cáceres!!, our winter pastures place. Long morning with tapas break, as usual, and good canters along the Cañada Real.. Delicious lunch and time in the afternoon to enjoy the stunning town of Trujillo. Horses will spend the winter here, some more horses will come in few weeks depending on the pastures, for now autumn is been so good, so countryside is plenty of food for them ( grass and acorns)

DAY 6- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE
Many things have happened in this holidays today we were riding along the Cañada Real and we met a wild board and deer hunting (montería), adventure is guaranteed! Tomorrow we will get Trujillo, really looking forward to it!

DAY 5- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE: Today we already crossed Tajo river by the Albalat bridge, it was partially destroyed in 1809 in Napoleon's war, which had an active front in this area and it was not rebuilt until 1845. It takes the name from the archaeological site of Albalat, a fortification from the Muslim era set on a platform that dominates the left bank of the river Tajo and it helps to understand the Islamic period in Extremadura. DAY 4 TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- Vast landscapes today riding along "Cañada del Venero", spectacular part of the Cañada Real, very large viewsheds, the horizon framed by large ranges of mountains, Gredos to the north and Montes de Toledo-Villuercas to the south, huge steppe vegetation area 😍 very special day with an unexpected end of the day...cheers 🥂

Our Story

Our philosophy is deepest respect to horses, environment, our roots and tradition. Our way of life is our passion!

We are Emilio Rodriguez and Mamen Martín, owners of Jerebeque trails -horse riding company in Spain-, with an experience in trail rides over 25 years. We operate in two different destinations: Sierra de Gredos and Extremadura with the same horses, our own horses, our family, most of them are beautiful PRE home-bred horses, very much love and very well looked after!

Extremadura- is our base during the Winter and Springtime (Winter pastures) and Sierra de Gredos- is our base from June to Oct-Nov (Summer pastures).

We both were borth in Sierra de Gredos and our family tradition was to move the cattle from Sierra de Gredos to Extremadura looking for winter pastures and coming back in June to the Summer pastures in Gredos. We still do the same with our beloved herd of horses!
