DAY 7- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE after 7 days riding we got our base in Trujillo (Cáceres!!, our winter pastures place. Long morning with tapas break, as usual, and good canters along the Cañada Real.. Delicious lunch and time in the afternoon to enjoy the stunning town of Trujillo. Horses will spend the winter here, some more horses will come in few weeks depending on the pastures, for now autumn is been so good, so countryside is plenty of food for them ( grass and acorns)

DAY 6- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE
Many things have happened in this holidays today we were riding along the Cañada Real and we met a wild board and deer hunting (montería), adventure is guaranteed! Tomorrow we will get Trujillo, really looking forward to it!

DAY 5- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE: Today we already crossed Tajo river by the Albalat bridge, it was partially destroyed in 1809 in Napoleon's war, which had an active front in this area and it was not rebuilt until 1845. It takes the name from the archaeological site of Albalat, a fortification from the Muslim era set on a platform that dominates the left bank of the river Tajo and it helps to understand the Islamic period in Extremadura. DAY 4 TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- Vast landscapes today riding along "Cañada del Venero", spectacular part of the Cañada Real, very large viewsheds, the horizon framed by large ranges of mountains, Gredos to the north and Montes de Toledo-Villuercas to the south, huge steppe vegetation area 😍 very special day with an unexpected end of the day...cheers 🥂

DAY 3- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- today we continued following the Cañada Real, here the landscape changed, we saw beautiful dehesas with Iberian pigs, now they are in "Montanera", the fattening period, they roam free in the Dehesas, feeding on grasses, natural herbs and acorns. We rode along the reservoir water with great canters and beautiful views of the Gredos Mountains. Numerous cranes winter here, from October to February so we saw already quite a lot. Dinner and night at stunning Parador of Oropesa, a castle from XIV c. Just a wonderful day! Looking forward to tomorrow 👍

DAY 2-TRANSHUMANCE RIDE we were lucky enough today to join a group of cows doing the Transhumance from the mountains to the winter pastures. Already in Toledo province, very varied terrain, beautiful scenery 😍

DAY 1-TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- This week we are travelling on horseback from our base in Sierra de Gredos to our base in Extremadura (Trujillo). Following the ancient paths of the Transhumance, part of our culture and history. Riding in the morning along green mountain pastures with stone walls and the highest peaks of Gredos in front of us, free range cattle around. Lunch at local restaurant at Puerto de Pico. Descending the Roman Road with more than two thousand years old, very well preserved. It was used for the Roman armies and the transport of metals crossing the Sierra de Gredos through the abrupt mountain pass Puerto del Pico. Later on, it worked as a cattle drove in the medieval time, despite the passage of centuries, is still in good condition. We led the horses on the Roman road down the mountains with amazing views, crossing the picturesque mountain village of Cuevas del Valle. Dinner and night is a rural hotel in picturesque village of Mombeltrán, with a medieval castle in front of the hotel. This is only the beginning of a wonderful week! Looking forward to tomorrow 😀

Going to Salamanca this week with a great group of people! many old friends and some new ones.
Tough morning in the first rain of the Autumn 🍂 luckily we warmed up at lunch time, with paella, quality wine and a fire!! Just what we needed 🥘🍷🔥 Then lovely afternoon! Looking forward to tomorrow
