TRANSHUMANCE RIDE-DAY 7- We all made it 🙌!! We successfully completed Day 7 of the Transhumance Ride! It was a truly wonderful trip, and we've officially reached our winter pastures for our horses in the surroundings of beautiful medieval town of Trujillo. This morning included some good canters, our popular mid-morning tapas and a wonderful ride to reach our base in Extremadura. We will spend the winter and early spring here, and we look forward to offering you the best of this region from March to May 2026

TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- DAY 6- Today marks Day 6 of our Transhumance Ride. We rode up to the Miravete mountain pass in less than ideal weather, which has us fondly remembering our sunny canters from the past few days! 😀

DAY 5- TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- Long hours riding today allowed us to cover very different terrain, we successfully crossed the Tajo river via the Albalat bridge, a structure with significant history! It was partially destroyed in 1809 during Napoleon's war, a conflict that had an active front in this area, and wasn't rebuilt until 1845. The bridge itself takes its name from the archaeological site of Albalat, a fortification from the Muslim era located on the left bank of the Tajo river. We ended the day in Casas de Miravete, already in the Extremadura region, where we enjoyed stunning views of the Monfragüe National Park 😍

DAY 4 -TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- Today we rode along "Cañada del Venero," a spectacular part of the Cañada Real, crossing to Extremadura region. The vast landscapes offered stunning views, with the Gredos mountains framing the northern horizon and the Montes de Toledo-Villuercas to the south. We rode along a huge steppe vegetation area under dramatic skies with great canters!! 🐎 looking forward to tomorrow!

"TRANSHUMANCE RIDE"- DAY 2
This week, we're embarking on a horseback journey from our Sierra de Gredos base to our Extremadura base in Trujillo, following the ancient paths of the Transhumance—a significant part of our culture and history! We spent our morning riding through lush green mountain pastures with stone walls, with the highest peaks of Gredos behind us and free-range cattle around. After a countryside lunch followed by siesta, our afternoon ride took us into Toledo province, where the landscape beautifully transforms into striking dehesas. We concluded our day with dinner and a night at a charming rural inn with a touch of luxury! This is just the beginning of a wonderful week with lovely people! Looking forward to tomorrow's adventures 😀

TRANSHUMANCE RIDE- DAY 1- We had a fantastic mountainous riding day that brought us to the south face of the Gredos Mountains, offering impressive views as we descended the Roman road! We crossed a beautiful and picturesque village, ending our day in Mombeltrán. There, we received a warm welcome and enjoyed a varied and delicious dinner! Looking forward to tomorrow!

This is a great ride which combines fantastic riding along the Natural Park of Sierra de Gredos, through the Tormes, Alberche and Corneja river valleys ending with a half day spent in spectacular Salamanca town what will allow you to visit this historic town. Salamanca is one of the World Heritage Cities of Spain.
Ride up and down slopes of oak and pines trees; crossing rivers of crystalline waters; nice canters across pastures and open fields along Salamanca province. The small villages along the trail with their beautiful architecture (medieval villages, churches and castles), their traditions in this remote part of Spain with a unique character.
Vast landscapes with unspoilt and well preserve nature, remote Castilian medieval villages, delicious tapas and alfresco lunches, charming hotels, and the end in Salamanca town… a lot of reasons make this itinerary a great destination for riding holidays in Spain!

We are Emilio Rodriguez and Mamen Martín, owners of Jerebeque trails -horse riding company in Spain-, with an experience in trail rides over 25 years. We operate in two different destinations: Sierra de Gredos and Extremadura with the same horses, our own horses, our family, most of them are beautiful PRE home-bred horses, very much love and very well looked after!
Extremadura- is our base during the Winter and Springtime (Winter pastures) and Sierra de Gredos- is our base from June to Oct-Nov (Summer pastures).
We both were borth in Sierra de Gredos and our family tradition was to move the cattle from Sierra de Gredos to Extremadura looking for winter pastures and coming back in June to the Summer pastures in Gredos. We still do the same with our beloved herd of horses!
Our horses used on our trails are the highlight of the holidays we offer! They are our equine family! Most of them are born and bred by ourselves, others have been part of the herd since they were foals. They might be the best looked after and most loved horses that you will find in this sector. We have a herd of 31 horses and for the trails we have 22 horses ready for clients. The breeds used are the world-renowned PRE horses, as well as some Hispano-Arab crosses and a few PRE crosses. Their serene and balanced nature is the result of a natural horsemanship and their life roaming the rich pastures in the Dehesas of Extremadura (Winter and Spring) and in a huge pine forest (during the Summer and Autumn). They are a pleasure to ride and to be around.
Our rides keep very high standards of accommodation, regional food and wine, forward-moving horses, changes of scenery, experience and professionalism of guide, pic-nics and tapas during the riding with excellent value for money.
