THANK YOU STEFFI!
Steffi Kersten, who has been ARCH's Head of Rehabilitation and Rehoming for two and a half years spent her last morning at the Centre today and a great number of volunteers came to say goodbye and good luck. Steffi has been an amazing asset to ARCH, with her professional qualifications and extensive experience in horse care. She has cared for our rescues often in the most challenging conditions and gone way beyond her job description. We are all sorry to see her leave and wish her every happiness in her new venture. Fortunately she has been working with our long-time volunteer Morgan Hester for some time now and Morgan will hopefully be staying with us to continue her legacy.

MY FRIEND FLICKA .......having some one-to-one liberty time with Morgan. Flicka arrived at ARCH injured, unhandled and unused to any human contact. As her owner couldn't catch her, he had virtually abandoned her out on the hills and totally neglected her. Unsurprisingly she was extremely wary of humans and it has taken a lot of patience and sympathetic handling to bring her round. She is a sweet mare who, once she forms a connection will follow you happily. She could be a great little horse for the right person. NEW FOR 2025
ARCH held its Annual General Meeting yesterday and the Committee for this year were appointed.
President Jill Newman Rogers,Vice President Stephanie Young,Treasurer Philip Hopkins, Secretary Jackie Heaton. Committee members: Natalie Balck, Stacey Hawkins, Jez Heaton, Morgan Hester, Jean Joss, Sheila Walklett, Ellen Warger.
ARCH is now entering its 16th year of rescuing and caring for abused or abandoned animals and the need for its services is greater than ever.

Just before Christmas, we received a 22-year-old chestnut mare, Pantoja. She was abandoned following the death of her owner in Granada province, in a state of extreme malnutrition and dehydration. Pantoja has an old fracture in her hock, which healed badly and therefore left this hindleg deformed. She also had several untreated open bite wounds that we suspect are from a dog attack. Despite her obvious pain, she is a gentle soul. She has been treated by our vet; however she is in the critical 2 weeks period as we watch for improvement.

OPEN SUNDAY
Come and visit ARCH tomorrow on the first Sunday of the New Year. Previous visitors might remember the two-week-old foal we rescued in 2024. Raya has been in foster care and is looking great, she is gentle and friendly. And we still have a few ARCH calendars available, now selling for 10 euros. The Centre is open from 10.00 to 14.00hrs.

AGM: CHANGE OF VENUE
The Annual General Meeting will now take place at Venta El Bichito, Camino de la Dehesa Baja, 12, 29120 Alhaurín el Grande, Málaga at 10.30 on Thursday 16th January. The change of venue is owing to the cold weather - we will now have a nice warm indoor room! 😁

🎊 Happy New Year from ARCH Team 🎉

For a fresh start, Misterio took his New Year’s Day swim with his adopted mom. He arrived at ARCH scared of everything especially people. Now he is loving the simple joys of life. Despite the hardships, its moments like this that make what we do worth it.

ARCH had our annual Volunteer Holiday Party on Monday. It was a wonderful time to reflect on this years success, eat good food and enjoy fabulous company. ARCH only works due to tireless hours our volunteers donate each day.

OLD NEW FACES
Facebook followers may remember the beautiful Princesa who was rescued in appalling condition some four years ago. She has been loving cared for by her foster Mummy who can now finally formally adopt her following a successful Court ruling. A more recent rescue was little Raya who came to ARCH last year aged two weeks. She too has been in foster care and will shortly be looking for a new home.
