The Rescue Centre is open tomorrow, the first Sunday of the month from 10.00 am until 2 pm. The horses might be muddy but they will still love to see visitors!

Firstly, we thank all our friends, families and ARCH supporters around the world for their messages of concern and support. We have been lucky and all ARCH equines are safe. Very muddy but safe.

Immediately after the DANA struck ARCH volunteers were called to assist animals in danger in Cartama. We offered our assistance and stabling to the local authorities around Malaga and have contacted the horse rescue centres in the Valencia region with similar offers.

Our condolences go out to all the families and communities impacted by this appalling disaster. We will continue to offer support in whatever way we can.

With the ongoing severe weather and flash flooding in the area, ARCH has a couple of paddocks available to take in horses, ponies, or donkeys that will need evacuation, until the situation calms down.

BEST PAWS FORWARD!
After a stunning display by the Police dog handlers and their fabulous dogs, it was time for the ARCH fun dog show. The expertise and training may not have quite matched up to the professionals but a great deal of fun was had by all. Many thanks to our inimitable MC Lee Jay and judges Sabrina Hope (Coin Dog Training, who also helped with the organisation), Inez Robinson (Malaga Dog Rehoming) and our wonderful ARCH vet Rocío Ayala Gutiérrez. Congratulations to the class winners and to everyone who took part with such enthusiasm!

A quick reminder that we will have our Autumn Fest tomorrow - there might be some road closures coming from Marbella/Ojen as the A-355 will be used for a bicycle race, but the access from all other directions shouldn’t be a problem. Hope to see you there!

The ARCH Autumn Fest (postponed from the rainy Sunday 13th) is now on this weekend! Come and see the Police Dog display (including the amazing Search and Rescue team). There will be food, drink, artisan stalls and a small fun dog show (you might get inspired by the Police teams😁). Just be aware that there are annoying road closures on Sunday because of the Marbella Ironman competition and you can't access ARCH via the A355. But there are alternatives, don't be put off!!

Remember our lovely old Rociero? He was adopted locally as a companion to a lonely and heavily pregnant mare. Well look at him now, the perfect "uncle" to her c**t foal and doesn't he look younger than his years? We just love happy stories.😍

A big thank you to our two volunteers from England, Karen Harlow-Griffiths and Hilary McCartney who spent this week at the Rescue Centre. Lifelong friends with a shared love of horses, Karen originally discovered ARCH through Bargain Loving Brits and has been supporting us ever since. The weather might not have been kind but their smiles show how much they enjoyed being with us!

CANINE CAPERS!
Next Sunday’s Autumn Fest will include our popular Fun Dog Show. Watch the Police dogs do their stuff and then see what your special pooch can do. Our classes this time are: Happiest Dog (not just waggiest tail, we know some have longer tails than others!), Rescue Dogs Rock (celebrating the new life you have given to your family member), Obstacle Race (how fast and accurate can the two of you be?) and our ever-popular Temptation Alley (just how focused on you is your dog?). Entrance fee of 2 euros per class, or 5 euros if you enter all four classes. Rosettes for the winners. Our judges are Sabrina Hope (Coin Dog Training), Inez Robinson (Malaga Dog Rehoming) and our wonderful ARCH vet Rocío Ayala Gutiérrez.
Registration is from 12.30 but you may want to come earlier to watch the professionals do their stuff and get inspired by the Police Dogs!

From rags to riches!

A couple of days before San Juan, we received a call from SEPRONA about a little pony with the horribly infected remainders of an eye. Tango Popeye, made a brilliant recovery at ARCH with the support of our vets, volunteers and of course his signature head wrap! We are happy to announce he has been re-home at a beautiful farm outside of Marbella where he has a new pony friend.

We are still fighting a court case for cruelty against his owner, but for now it is nice to celebrate the good news!

JEZ IS HOME IN BELGIUM!

WHAT A GREAT DAY! Our Spring Fest yesterday was a roaring success. The sun shone, visitors (and their dogs) enjoyed themselves and the horses were happy. Chili FM took this video which captured the spirit of the day. More photos to follow.
