De hoefcursus komt nog 1 keer terug! Wil jij er bij zijn? Bestel dan snel en wees verzekerd van een plek.

Alles over hoeven
Voor paardeneigenaren die de hoeven van hun paard écht willen begrijpen. Tijdens deze praktische dag leer je hoe een gezonde hoef eruitziet, hoe je beginnende problemen herkent en wat je zelf kunt doen om de hoefgezondheid te verbeteren.

In de ochtend duiken we in de theorie, ’s middags ga je zelf aan de slag op echte paarden, onder begeleiding van Amber Halkes (Native Horsemanship) en Melanie Smulders (Mevrouw Wiebelkont).

Onze unieke aanpak kijkt niet naar het gemiddelde paard, maar naar wat jouw paard nodig heeft. Ideaal voor eigenaren die tussentijds zelf willen bijwerken en hun paard beter willen ondersteunen.

💰 €125 p.p. – inclusief vegetarische lunch, theorie en praktijk

📅 Datum en tijd: 3 mei van 10:00 – 15:00

✨ Er zijn 10 extra theorieplekken beschikbaar (€45 p.p.) voor wie alleen de ochtendsessie wil volgen. Deze deelnemers stoppen voor de lunch en nemen niet deel aan het praktijkgedeelte. Doe je mee met het praktijkgedeelte? Voeg dan een bekapset (hoefmessen, handschoenen, hoefrasp +€75,-) aan jouw bestelling toe, zo ben je verzekerd van een goede start!

It’s been a while since I posted an update here, but here I am! Life’s just been busy — work here, work in Holland, and last week we moved my sister and her horses to Spain as well. Some friends came over to help her (and me), and they stayed a little longer, which meant that finally Mel took some new pictures of me working here in Spain. So now we can replace those Dutch photos with images that actually show the environment I work in now.

I’m so happy that so many horse owners are finding their way to me for barefoot trims. And I can truly say that, after more than a year, I’m really living my dream here in Spain. Thanks to you!

Do you also need a barefoot trimmer for your horse? I have a few spots available between Alicante and Valencia, just send me a message.

This sweet little pony was rescued by La Manada de Molly. He has severe laminitis 😔
This photo was taken when I trimmed him for the first time. He was resting, and since it’s difficult for him to stand on 3 feet it was easier to trim him lying down. He is so so sweet and luckily he trusted me ❤️
For now I’m trimming him every week, that way I can make changes without making him uncomfortable.
He is doing a lot better already!

The importance of starting to trim your foals hooves at an early age.

A lot of the problems horses have with their hooves could have been prevented with the proper hoofcare, nutrition and movement from the day they were born.

Foals usually don’t move enough. When a foal is born their hooves are smaller than that of a grown up horse. The pressure they get from different kind of surfaces will ensure the bones will take its rightful form. If the bones stay to narrow, it can cause problems in the future.

Horses are ment to walk between 15-30 kilometers a day. They don’t walk on soft surfaces, but are used to walking on hard, uneven and challenging ground. Even foals have to walk over these surfaces to follow the herd form day one. This ensures the foals get very strong hooves and tendons.

Donderdag ga ik weer naar Nederland. De weken vliegen voorbij. Voelt alsof ik er vorige week nog was maar het is toch echt alweer 6 weken geleden.
Wil jij nog een afspraak maken? Ik heb nog een paar plekjes vrij.

Warning! Don’t scroll trough the photos if you don’t like blood!

Last week my horse was lame on his two front feet. They were also very warm en he had a strong digital pulse. Laminitis was my first thought. He kept getting worse and could hardly move around.
So I ordered some leeches.
After the leeches had done their work he was only lame on one foot. A couple days later an abscess broke out. Luckily he is no longer lame!

Guess I didn’t need the leeches after all but they work for a lot of things, so it didn’t do any harm.

Do you have a horse suffering from laminitis? Or do you have a horse who had it? Did you use leeches or have you not heard of them before?

Ps I only applied them on my own horse with the help of a friend, I will never use them on client horses.

Even the worst hooves can change. We’re not there yet but I can tell you this horses is walking a lot better!
