I want to apologize for not updating recently; it’s been an incredibly difficult few months here. I have had to say goodbye to two horses in heartbreakingly quick succession. First, my gorgeous and beautiful spirit, Arwin, and then just a few weeks ago, my handsome and gentle soul, Militar. The loss of these two has left an immeasurable void in my heart. They were both deeply loved and are terribly missed every single day.

Arwin and Militar had a truly strong bond, a connection that was evident in everything they did. I find a small sense of peace knowing that they are together again, running free, and forever side by side. Their presence will forever be felt here at the sanctuary, and their memory will always be cherished.

Today, it is about Arwin and Militar, and honouring the love and joy they brought into my life. They will always hold a special place in my heart. Miss you both like crazy. Fly high gorgeous souls.

BUT.. I also want to share that on Thursday, Noress developed thrombosis (a blood clot) in her iliac artery and is, at the moment, very poorly. More updates on her condition will follow in the next few days.

Actualización de progreso! 🎉 Estoy avanzando con la actualización del sitio web y he logrado mostrar algunos de mis recipientes hechos a mano con pulpa de papel. Todavía queda mucho por hacer, pero estoy emocionado de compartirlos con ustedes. Hechos de papel reciclado, algunos recipientes están formados a mano mientras que otros tienen núcleos de botellas recicladas. ¡Manténganse atentos para más añadidos y gracias por su apoyo en este viaje! 🌿

🇬🇧 Progress update! 🎉 I'm getting there with the website update and have managed to showcase a few of my handmade paper pulp vessels. There's still a long way to go, but I'm excited to share them with you. Made from recycled paper, some vessels are hand-formed while others feature recycled bottle cores. Stay tuned for more additions and thank you for your support on this journey! 🌿

Hola a todos! He estado soñando con llevar mis productos hechos a mano a los mercados de artesanía locales, pero las cosas han estado un poco agitadas últimamente y ese plan sigue retrasándose. Sin embargo, he decidido empezar a compartir con todos ustedes lo que he estado creando!

Voy a ir añadiendo todo (probablemente despacio) al sitio web, pero siempre pueden enviarme un mensaje si les gustaría comprar algo y pasar por la finca para recoger su compra. Es una oportunidad perfecta para salir al aire libre, conocer a nuestros encantadores caballos y apoyar nuestro proyecto, o puedo enviarles el producto (si es un artículo que se puede enviar): todas las ganancias de sus compras van directamente a nuestro proyecto.

Así que, para empezar, aquí está una de mis macetas hechas a mano... completa con suculentas. Obviamente, estas no podrán ser enviadas, así que solo para la gente de Tenerife 💞

🇬🇧 Hey everyone! I've been dreaming of getting my handmade stuff to the local craft markets, but things have been a bit hectic lately and that plan keeps getting delayed. However, I've decided to start sharing what I have been creating with you all!

I will be adding everything (probably slowly) to the website, but you could always send me a message if you would like to buy something, and come by the farm to collect your purchase. It's a perfect opportunity to get outdoors, meet our lovely horses, and support our project, or I can ship (if it is a shippable item)—all profits from your purchases go directly towards our project.

So to start off, here is one of my hand made planters...complete with succulents. These will not be able to be shipped obviously so just for Tenerife people 💞

Exhausted does not quite cover how I am feeling right now 🤣

I have been going round in circles, trying to figure out a way to raise money for the horses, and I have finally come back to the beginning!

With a lot of encouragement and help from a good friend (you know who you are 😚), we have found a place to sell our handmade crafts.

Stay tuned to see where we will be in the near future 🤞and in the meantime, any spare minute, we will be busy crafting all sorts of goodies.

Let's talk Christmas goodies!

From family classics to those store-bought delights, every bite brings back memories, right? Now, I'm no kitchen whiz, but I've got a mince pie recipe that's a crowd-pleaser. Here it is:

Homemade Mincemeat Recipe:

1 cup of grated apple
1 cup of mixed dried fruits
1/2 cup of mixed peel
1/2 cup of chopped almonds
1/2 cup of dark brown sugar
1/2 cup of melted butter
Zest and juice of 1 lemon and 1 orange
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp ground cloves
1/4 cup of brandy or rum
Mix them up, let it sit, and boom—homemade mincemeat!

Simple Shortcrust Pastry Recipe:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
1/4 cup granulated sugar
Pinch of salt
1/4 cup ice water
Instructions:

In a food processor, pulse flour, butter, sugar, and salt until it resembles breadcrumbs.
Slowly add ice water until the dough comes together.
Turn out the dough, shape it into a disc, wrap in plastic, and chill for at least 30 minutes.

Mince Pie How-To:

Roll out that pastry.
Cut circles for the base and stars for the lids.
Line your cupcake tin with the big circles.
Spoon in a good heap of mincemeat.
Top it off with the stars.
Bake at 180°C for 20-25 minutes or until golden.
Let them cool, sprinkle some icing sugar, and voila!

🌿 Taking a breather this Friday night in the midst of chaos. I am not very good at taking time out but it IS something I have to work on. Stressful days call for a little self-care, and today's remedy is a 5-minute escape in my tub with some homemade, all-natural Sugar Scrubs. No fancy frills, just natural products. And maybe some wine!

But if I am going to be honest- this post has an ulterior motive 😅 It's a glimpse into something I've been thinking of for a while. Making natural skin care and beauty products to help fund this project. Stay tuned for more!

Making progress with our food forest journey by sowing a variety of seeds. Ever heard of Leucaena leucocephala? It's a remarkable plant that will become a key player in our permaculture design.

Leucaena leucocephala is a nitrogen-fixing tree with a growth potential of up to 20 feet. This feature allows it to convert atmospheric nitrogen into a form usable by plants, making it a valuable asset in any permaculture system.
