💫 Introducing a new (to this page) feature. It's Thankful Thursday and I am feeling pretty grateful for our supporters. Even though I haven't been the best at spreading the word about our cause, the people who do know about us are truly amazing. I mean, seriously, you guys are the best! Update on my pallet garden fence project!
I got it all in place a few weeks ago. It's not quite finished yet, I still need to add some post caps, give it a little colour and then some planting 🌿 Overall, I'm feeling pretty happy with it. It's been a fun project, and despite the splinters, Im grateful to be able to make my own space a little more comfortable ☺️

I have been making some fencing panels! I still have to cut the tops level and I have some other things to do but I will make them look pretty 🤣

Not sure they are up to the hubby's standards, but since he is still away in England they will have to do! 🤷‍♀️

It has been a long time but I finally have some good news to share!

We have replaced the old, broken and dangerous fencing with a shiny new metal one that will hopefully last ☺️.

Huge thank you to the team and Boebas help for the donation, we couldn't have done it without you 🙏

We still have to put in the lower rail, but it is a great start, looks amazing and most importantly is safe 💚

Goodbye 2022 you have been an arse 🤣

I'm not usually one for the New Year, new start stuff. I think that every minute brings the opportunity to make changes, live life and find new ways to be a better person.

However!

2022 has kicked me in the ass. It has been tough for so many reasons and almost broken me on several occasions.

But I am still here. And there are things to be grateful for.

Especially. New friends. Old friends. Family. Thank you to all for getting me through.

So... changes are coming.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE.

My last thank you of the year! This one is for everyone that has supported us over the last year.

A very special thank you to Boebas helpend, Sylvia and the team for their amazing support and generous donation that has secured the horses hay for the next few months.

Thank you to Margaret Bird and her team for their fantastic work every Sunday at the boot fair helping no end of animals and people in need including the horses here, and for also the incredible effort raising the money for the shelter coverings (We did put one up but the recent storm showed that the fabric was significantly stronger than the structures so we are making repairs and will have photos to follow soon!)

Thank you to Suzanne Wormald for her wonderful efforts with the scratch cards and recent donation of €60.

Five of the nine horses here are completely free range 😅

I have no perimeter fence, so if they wanted, they could wander off down into the barranco, or up into the pine forest 🌲

There are some fences, but there are also open areas and trust me, they know exactly where they are!

I do sometimes have to retrieve them from places they shouldn't be, but on the whole, they know where home is and stay mostly on the tracks ❤️

The weather forecast is more 🌧️

I desperately need to repair the shelters. The appeal last week raised some money ( thank you 💞) but no where near enough to do even one for the horses 😔

On a positive note, for the first time, next week I will have a team of 4 volunteers to help me get this sorted 🤞 so although it won't be a permanent solution, we can get something arranged that will hopefully buy me a bit of time.

The catch is I need materials... Pallets, and lots of them! Tarpaulins, old exterior awnings or pergola covers and wood battens preferably a minimum of around 3 metres.

Plus, anything else you think might help 🙏

The second catch is that I need someone to help to collect these things. Especially any pallets! We only have a little car and she has a tendency to overheat on the smallest hill 😔

So, if you have anything laying around, or know where I can buy at a reasonable price, please get in touch 🙂

🌿 Unique opportunity for the right person 🌿 Live in volunteer wanted with immediate start. We are looking for 2 or 3 people depending on the situation to share our 2 bedroomed Eco cottage in a workaway role. Accomodation and food grown in our market garden is provided in return for 25 hours a week work. The cottage has its own kitchen, bathroom with shower and garden with views of the mountains and horses 🐴 It has solar powered electricity throughout the day. The position involves working in the market garden which will hopefully be our primary source of funding for the sanctuary, working on the food forest and general work around the farm including building walls and maintenance. No horse experience necessary as this is not a animal care role, although you are welcome to love on them as much as you like :) Interest and knowledge in permaculture a bonus. Knowledge in social media promotion also a bonus. A love for animals is a must and a kind and gentle nature a requirement. Minimum of a month would be preferred although longer is definitely possible for the right people. We are up in the mountains of Tenerife, close to beautiful hiking and climbing trails and only 12 mins by car to the beach.
