Puppies in Crisis Puppies in Crisis - SPAIN was formed in March 2013 by sisters Jacky and Val in response to an immediate need when eight puppies were found abandoned.

In March 2013 we were told of a litter of eight puppies, between four and six weeks old, abandoned by roadside bins. The eight were all suffering from ringworm and were undernourished, each needing five doses of medication each day. Over several weeks all but one of the puppies grew into healthy young dogs. The exception had taken in rat poison while they were living rough. happily the vet was abl

e to save him, but it needed several days as an in patient at the vets and two blood transfusions. This alone cost almost 400e; caring for a healthy pup - vaccinations, microchip and pet passport - totals about 200e. The puppies have now all found new homes outside Spain. The day after the eight left us, we took in two podenco puppies - again, found abandoned by bins.
