We are looking for a very special home for our very special boy - Rociero
Dark bay, 160cm approx, Spanish, Gelding, Rising 12 year old

He has competed up to 80cm showjumping, medium level dressage, hacks out alone and in company, bar rides, ferias, romerias, tackless - he literally does everything!

He has been with us for almost 5 years and he is very well loved - home is of the utmost importance (he would love some grass!)

Rociero has had a few harsh hands before and for this reason he is not a novice ride - he is in no way nasty, no buck, rear, bolt etc. He just dances if he feels insecure! However, he has been ridden side saddle to Ferias, with loud music, lots of horses, people, doesn’t bat an eyelid in the heaviest of traffic.
He is snaffle mouthed with a lovely soft mouth.
He is the first one in the field to give hugs and kisses.

We are very tentatively looking for a new 🏠 for our incredible boy, Rey.
The very best home is the only criteria in this search, and is of the utmost importance.
Anyone who has visited us knows just how amazing this boy is, he is a complete gentleman and an absolute superstar.
He is now 21 yrs old, but not ready for retirement, he still enjoys and needs regular work. We are looking for someone to love and pamper him, who will enjoy taking him out hacking and give him plenty of cuddles.

We always knew this boy was a superstar (and so did everyone who has ridden him here!) But today he exceeded even our expectations.
We took our big beautiful fairy - Epico out to his first ever competition and he only went and won! 🏅🏅🏅
Not only did he win, but he scored an incredible 86.2% 🤩🤩🤩
He was an absolute star! He behaved like a true professional and showed his true potential.

We have just finished the most incredible week with 5 fantastic ladies! We have had a great time, with lots of fun and lots of laughter. And we also had the honour of helping a lovely lady regain her confidence with the help once again of our wonderful gentle giant Rey!

We often get asked about the entry requirements for Spain regarding vaccination certificates.

News released today that the entry requirements are due to be changed again and that travellers will no longer require a vaccination certificate, and will be able to enter as a tourist with a negative PCR test.

We can keep telling you how amazing our experiences are, how luxurious our accommodation is, how beautiful and relaxing our retreat is, how breathtaking the scenery is and how incredible our horses are but there is no one better able to explain how truly fantastic our holidays are than our guests.

"Just Perfect
I'm not sure how to start this without sounding like I've been bribed! My friend and I have just returned from a phenomenal 4 day stay at the Cortijo.

Horses
The team keep the horses as naturally as possible and it really shows in how happy and chilled they are. They have a diverse bunch to suit all riders but all are fit and well mannered with mounts from dressage schoolmasters to super safe gentlemen! Darren and Sarah are great at listening to what you want and matching you up with a suitable mount and you can either ride one the whole stay, or try multiple! I had the pleasure of the amazing dressage diva Epico, a hispano PRE, and Poppy, an amazing pocket rocket! The riding is out of this world, photos don't capture how breathtaking the views are and you really feel on top of the world. These aren't mad rushing about treks, you sit back in a supremely comfortable traditional saddle and really soak in the crisp clean air, the smell of the citrus groves, the singing of the birds and the cadence of the hoofbeats to just evaporate your stress. We also had two lessons with Darren which were so informative - he has a real way of breaking things down, and the horses are schooled to an excellent standard.

Accomodation
We stayed in the two bed apartment - they're a stone's throw from the yard and the pool/bar area. The apartments are well equipped and comfortable, with really comfortable beds and good WiFi. They've got self catering facilities but as we.were half board, we didn't use them. There is a gorgeous sunny pool as well as an honesty bar - a little too cold to consider using while we were there but I'm sure very welcome in summer.

Food
I'll start this by saying I am f u s s y. Very. Our food was excellent, we had home cooked BBQ, gorgeous freshly baked croissants each morning (including one morning a picnic brunch up a mountain!), authentic tapas in tiny local haunts and memorably a visit to a local tavern for super fresh homemade traditional dishes ending with a mad night playing bongos to Abba!

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend visiting the Cortijo, it's truly stunning and there's a reason so many of their customers are repeat visitors.

If you did want to explore, I'd recommend hiring a car as it's a peaceful secluded retreat with nothing in walking distance, but taxis are readily available and reasonable if required - we didn't feel the need to at all during our stay."

Not forgetting, their eight exceptional horses and nine canine rescues!
