Class schedule for September 2024

We will reopen on WEDNESDAY 4th SEPTEMBER

Please note there are many changes to the schedule, during the week I will only be offering classes in the evening and the usual Saturday classes will resume.

It is COMPULSORY to book in the classes you want to attend, so I can manage numbers and ensure that they do not become too busy. So please book your September classes as soon as possible. 🙏

For those that still want private classes speak to me directly and we will book the times in.

Please find below a brief description of what each class entails:

Beginners rally-o
These are for any age dog that has previously attended obedience classes then want to move to the next step. Rally obedience is a dog sport based on obedience, where teamwork is the main focus. The dog and handler completes a course consisting of exercise stations.
Exam is completed at the end of the course.

Advanced / Intermediate Rally O
For those that have passed the beginners Rally O courses.
Includes exams

Agility drills and skills
Short agility sequences to work on certain areas to improve handling and skills

Hoopers
To build agility foundations and progress through the Canine Hoopers World progress levels

Advanced Hoopers
For those level 6 and above

Beginners agility
For anyone new to agility or those that need to build confidence on all the agility equipment.

Advanced agility
For dogs that are confident will all the equipment - a competition style course will be set up to walk and practice

Agility for all
Mixed ability class where the class is designed and adjusted based on your level of experience

Obedience
Basic obedience skills including sits, stays, recalls, socialising and focus during a group environment

Pre booking in essential for all classes.

Student notice: Please note the road has no access - the town hall has offloaded a pile of sand and rubble - so there is no getting though - please follow the route through the village to access the academy, this is open as normal. We now have Lickimats and slow feeders available on the shop for your dog. What is a lick mat? A lick mat or often called Lickimat, after the Australian trademarked brand, are flat mats designed for your dog to lick, over and over. There are usually coated with ridges and brittles that encourage licking. Since they are flat, dogs are not able to grab the food with their teeth and must use their tongue instead. The result: it takes much longer to eat all the food! But there are many more benefits to a lick mat and we’ll explore them now. - Calm & Soothe: the licking action is a very pleasurable experience for your dog. It secretes endorphins, the happiness hormone, helping calm and soothe your pet, and redirects bad licking habits. -The lickimat becomes a great distraction when given in a moderately stressful situation, for example when you leave the home or when unfamiliar guests are visiting. - Beats boredom and enriches your dog’s life: while most Lickimats have been designed to provide a fun and stimulating activity for your dog, some, such as the Wobble, have been specifically created with boredom in mind. Wobble will roll around and challenge your dog in attempts to lick the treat spread on the inside, keeping your dog entertained for a long time. -Slows down eating: the longer your dog takes to eat, the better digestion! We all know how we feel after woofing down our dinner. The action of licking created by the lick mat, encourages the production of saliva which helps break down food. Slowing down eating reduces bloat risks and improves digestion. - Supports oral health: The grooves and soft brittles on a Lickimat scrapes your dog’s tongue, cleaning it and removing particles and bacteria. This ultimately helps to improve your dog’s oral health.
