Casa Shakti is a 17th century finca (Spanish for farm), nestled in pine covered hills behind the town of San Carles de Peralta, surrounded by nature and the scent lavender and rosemary. The house sits in an idyllic spot, on a hilltop with wonderful sweeping views over the valley and out to sea and to the island of Formentera. The land extends over 50.000sqm and is covered partly by forest, which o

ffers shade and respite from the heat of the summer, and partly by a large expanse of almond trees, which blossom spectacularly in spring. Large century-old terraces are devoted to organic cultivation and to housing our 4 lovely rescue horses Arachana, Apache, Beauty and Indigo. The finca has several terraces for relaxing and enjoying the views and a lovely cobbled courtyard that leads up to our gorgeous swimming pool, with whirlpool bath and spectacular views. We believe that this energy is underlying in all the activities we do here: yoga classes, retreats, healthy eating and vegetarian cooking workshops. A number of lovely rescue animals live with us here and they help us stay connected with the Shakti energy and nature.

They are inseparable, incredibly soft and so lazy!!
They have the best life at Casa Shakti today..
but they both come from the street..
and had a very tough time at the beginning of their life..!

We found Luz run over in the middle of the street. she was only 1 month old and the cars were passing above her as if she was nothing.
We were on our way to see a sunset when we saw her and that’s why we called her “Light”.

Smokey comes from a cat colony that a lovely lady takes so much care of, but he had such hard time being accepted by cats that were much less friendly than him..
so we offered him a home (see today’s stories..!!)

When Smokey arrived, Luz fell immediately in love and since then they are always together.

You will certainly see them at Casa Shakti, sleeping on an armchair or having a walk in the garden at sunset time ☀️

Whatever retreat plan you choose.. Yoga is going to be part of it!

We included Yoga in all plans so that we are sharing a regular group activity. Everyone in the house is welcome!

The classes are also open to the residents of the island!

Walking (or running!) distance from Casa Shakti… Cala Nova beach is very well known for its cristal clear waters and unspoiled coast.

During the winter, when the waves are higher, it often becomes a popular meeting point of the surfers of the island.

This is also the perfect place to see the sun rising from the sea.
If you like having early morning walks, this can easily become your favorite meditation spot!

As if this wasn’t enough, Cala Nova is also the magical spot where the locals gather every month to see spectacular full moons rising from the water.

This is only a glimpse of how pleasant the autumn-winter season is on the island ✨

At Casa Shakti we are a wonderful team of four people taking care of the animals.. from sunrise to sunset..
Apart from having hay available 24 hours, Sunny is following a Gut Healing Protocol under the supervision of a great holistic veterinarian from The Nederlands.
Thanks to the help of a friend who accepted to fly with Sunny’s poo in her luggage 😂 we managed to deliver that to the vet within 12 hours and have it analyzed to spot bacteria strains and imbalances..
To heal Laminitis you need to HEAL the GUTS!
Isn’t that the same for most of our chronic diseases?
Part of the remedies are also meant to help the functions of the liver and here Luciano is giving it to Sunny with all his love!!

When the weather is hot adjust your practice to it!
Here we chose to practice challenging postures like the shoulder stand and the plow that have a calming and cooling effect on the body and take the time to prepare them in a gentle way that keeps the body fresh and the mind relaxed.

To prepare for these postures you can do plenty of should stretches, gentle movements to release back and neck tensions and a variety of movements with your legs up.

The shoulder stand and the plow directly stimulate the thyroid gland that, among the many important functions, contributes in regulating body temperature.

Best if done under dog supervision! 😆

As many of you know.. a new horse arrived at Casa Shakti a month ago.. He was at risk to be put down because of a condition called laminitis, that causes extreme pain and even lead to death when becomes chronic. We decided to have him here and try our best to heal him, using a holistic approach (treat the all aspects of the disease and all systems involved instead of just focusing on reducing the symptoms) and natural remedies. The use of anti inflammatories to reduce pain it often gives immediate relief. However it cannot be considered a cure and on the long run it tends to affect the digestive system, which is exactly what we need to fix if we aim to a real healing. Do we have alternatives? To treat Sunny we chose to use CBD oil. CBD oil is very effective in humans and animals to help with general body discomforts and pain, it is proved to reduce inflammation and anxiety, it regulates metabolism and appetite and strengthen the immune system. It improves the quality of life of the animal and it doesn’t have any damaging effect.. The CBD oil we are using has been donated by the wonderful Anabela who is a real animal lover and came to give him the first dose in person!!
