Anybody else still working down their frozen stash of Thanksgiving turkey and envisioning the next feast for Christmas?!
Chia gets my share of turkey since I don’t eat it. It was a turkey leg that was cooked separately without spices, just like her share of the Thanksgiving day veggies. ☺️

The bug has had a bad week. A bad butt week. 🍑❤️‍🩹 She had her first ruptured a**l gland abscess and I don’t know if the experience was worse for her or for me. Either way, her backside is now on the mend after applying warm compresses for 5 minutes, 3 times a day (that’s what’s going on here) and by applying her medicated ointment immediately after. I’m finally ready to report that she is much better now (the abscess has already healed over) and no longer wearing the cone of shame. If you think she looks scared and pathetic in this photo, just imagine her with the cone on also to keep her from licking at the abscess and making it worse. My poor bug. 😣
Chia’s never had her a**l glands expressed because she’s never shown signs of needing it (scooting, excessive licking/biting, discomfort, etc) in the 6 years she’s been with us, so I assumed she was one of the lucky ones who didn’t need it. I didn’t even notice any redness or swelling before it ruptured and I clean her bottom with a wet wipe after every walk. 😳 Now I’m wondering if she does need her glands expressed regularly to prevent a future abscess and if so, how often. 🤔 Don’t worry, this will def be a question for her vet, but I thought I’d bring it up here too if anybody else wants to share their baby’s bad butt experiences. 😬🍑
I’ll post a video next (annoying how FB doesn’t allow you to post photos and videos at the same time) to show you how good she was during her treatment. She’d eventually calm down. I think the warm compress relaxed her. 🥰
A huge thank you to her trusty vet who talked me through this even though he’s on leave (which I wasn’t aware of when I bothered him via whatsapp, but also which didn’t stop him from replying right away and giving me all the info I needed to nurse Chia back to health). We make a good team Thank you!!! ❤️
If you’ve read this far, another tidbit for ya: Chia is now scared of our electric kettle because I used it for the warm water when I treated her bum. Now when I pick it up for my hot water numerous times a day, she looks at me with the same face you’re seeing in the photo. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Servers are Chia’s insta-besties. She knows they always come bearing food so she kisses up to them from the very moment they arrive at our table. Then she stalks them, watching their every move until she senses the meal is finished and nothing else is coming (somehow she always knows). She then falls asleep in a bag or on my lap until they come back with the check. And that’s when they get this look. 😬

My little hillbilly baby had all but one of her front bottom teeth pulled during her last cleaning, even though I regularly brush her them. 😭 At least she doesn’t seem to mind and she’s still just as cute in my eyes…

Look how white Chia’s getting on her underside. 😩 I just keep reminding myself that small dogs could live 20+ years. I think I’m having a midlife crisis for the both of us. About to buy Chia a mini convertible. Future post? 🤔

This is Chia on the regular. She burrows herself in alllll the blankets and then pops her little head, sometimes just her little snout, out when she hears something interesting.

Extra OR necessary when you sleep 20+ hours a day?
For those wondering what Chia’s been up to, this pretty much sums it up in a single photo. She goes from one (day)bed to the next, sleeping at some point in all 10 of them so we can’t get rid of any of them, yet she still sleeps on our bed, right between our heads, every night.
It’s cute because she puts herself to bed. She ditches us for the big bed by midnight every night, like clockwork. She’ll get up and sometimes give us a look over her shoulder to see if we’re coming before heading off to her spot on the big bed. In this photo you can see she fell sleep under the throw pillows while waiting for me to “make her bed.” 🤣🤷‍♀️

Chia loves her new bed because it’s so soft and comforting. Mama loves it because it matches the interior decor. Papa doesn’t understand why a single 4.5lb chihuahua that sleeps on our bed needs to have 10 day beds of her own. Yes, 10. 🤣🙈🤷‍♀️
Thanks to .show for the bed! It was a wonderful Christmas present for this little bug.

That awkward moment when someone disregards social distancing

Get ready for a Chia comeback! I know I’ve been majorly slacking off on Chia’s account, but every time I see a photo opp, I don’t have my camera on hand. This has led me to the decision to sell my camera and get a better camera phone so I’ll always be ready to capture Chia’s insta worthy moments and post them instantly! 😉🙌
I need your help! Any phone recommendations? If you have a high quality camera phone, which do you use? Would love to check out some accounts with high quality phone photos. You could also tag other accounts you know that use camera phones if you think they have good photos! Thanks for the help, guys! I really appreciate it! 😘

The Queen Chi

Thanks for the sweet “just checking-in messages,” friends! As you can see, Chia is just fine. She rules her new kingdom. As for her servants, we’re finishing up little decorating details, but we’re happy to say the remodel is finished! 😅 Here’s one of my fave parts, one of Chia’s two new walls of fame.

Dressed for a drive down the coast in my convertible.

Living where I do, I don’t need my own car, but back in California I had a convertible Mini Cooper and I used to love driving it on the pch. I can’t say I miss driving because most of my memories are of traffic, but the carefree drives down the coast are missed. Happy Friday everyone! Any fun plans? I’m staying in sick. 🤧😒

It’s been unusually cold & rainy here lately. Roll call where’s everyone from, and insignificant small talk what’s your weather like?
Put together this little video to participate in this week’s whp just for funsies. Chia’s best “movement” is obviously her chipmunk zoomies, but I’d say her handstand p*e is a close second. Chia handstand p*es on every rock, and tree, and corner until the last drop comes out, then she continues to do the movement anyway.

Chia tiene una manía con marcar cosas. Tiene que parar para marcar cada piedra, árbol, o esquina que pasamos. Lo hace hasta que la última gota salga y después sigue haciendo el gesto solo por hacerlo. Y es una hembra!!
