✅ La enfermedad hemorrágica epizoótica es una amenaza silenciosa pero muy real en varios países europeos.
✅ Disponer de una vacuna DIVA por primera vez en Europa, es un paso adelante y una innovación clave para el control de la enfermedad.
✅ DIVA son las siglas de «Diferenciación entre Animales Infectados y Vacunados».

From 4 to 7 June, the 27th Congress of the International Pig Veterinary Society [hashtag ] and the 15th European Symposium on Pig Health Management [hashtag ] were held in Leipzig (Germany).
🐖🐖🐖
For Syva, it goes without saying that pig health and welfare is an important part of our expertise and our commitment to developing specific vaccines and treatments for this particular animal species.

There is also a typically Spanish breed of pig: the Iberian pig. The Iberian pig is the world-renowned Spanish breed, and you will not find it anywhere else but in Spain, unlike all the products labelled "Iberian pig", which are exported all over the world and are the pride of our Spanish farmers.

Given the size of the joint IPVS and ESPHM event and the richness and variety of the topics covered, colleagues from our different departments involved in both the development and promotion of our solutions attended the various presentations. We are sure that all Syva colleagues, each in their own field of expertise, found a lot of inspiration and made some interesting contacts.
Finally, the biggest challenge was probably getting them all together for the photo. The only photo that seemed authorized to be taken, as you can see.

Del 4 al 7 de junio se celebraron en Leipzig (Alemania) el 27º Congreso de la Sociedad Veterinaria Porcina Internacional [hashtag ] y el 15º Simposio Europeo de Gestión Sanitaria Porcina [hashtag ].

Para Syva, huelga decir que la salud y el bienestar de los cerdos es una parte importante de nuestra experiencia y de nuestro compromiso con el desarrollo de vacunas y tratamientos específicos para esta especie animal concreta.
También existe una raza de cerdo típicamente española: el cerdo ibérico. El cerdo ibérico es la raza española de renombre mundial, y no la encontrarás en ningún otro lugar que no sea España, a diferencia de todos los productos etiquetados como "cerdo ibérico", que se exportan a todo el mundo y son el orgullo de nuestros ganaderos españoles.

Dada la envergadura del evento conjunto de IPVS y ESPHM y la riqueza y variedad de los temas tratados, asistieron a las distintas ponencias compañeros de nuestros distintos departamentos implicados tanto en el desarrollo como en la promoción de nuestras soluciones. Estamos seguros de que todos los colegas de Syva, cada uno en su campo de especialización, encontraron mucha inspiración e hicieron algunos contactos interesantes. Por último, el mayor reto fue probablemente reunirlos a todos para la foto. La única foto que había que hacer parecía autorizada, como puedes ver.

News of the campaign in the Netherlands using Syva's BTV3 vaccine!
As you can imagine, we're keeping a very close eye on the results of this huge vaccination campaign, which began the day after 6 April when the first million doses of our BTV3 vaccine arrived in the Netherlands. and we wanted to share this with you!
Dutch vets are busy vaccinating the 662,000 or so sheep (source CBS: Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek) on all the country's farms that could once again be targeted by the Culicoides midges, whose period of activity has already been announced.
As the young vet interviewed says, "It's not a miracle, it's simply vaccination".
When asked whether he should be concerned about the side-effects in the leaflet, he replied
"As far as we've seen so far, we started last Monday, so exactly a week ago, and we were worried about reactions at the injection site or that the animals might have muscle pains, but so far we haven't seen any of that. Nor have there been any complaints at the time, and the people we called afterwards have so far been satisfied."
We're really pleased to hear this, and to be able to make a real contribution to curbing this epidemic through vaccination. However, there is still a lot of work to be done by Dutch vets, who should start vaccinating cows. Given that there are some 3.8 million cows in the Netherlands (source CBS: Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek). It is urgent to vaccinate cows the young vet points out, "Last weekend I was on duty and I've already seen the first signs of bluetongue. Not in the sheep, but all in the young calves of the cows that were in the fields and stables and hadn't yet been vaccinated. And those, yes, they are already sick and dying of bluetongue."
Dutch vets and farmers will be hard pressed for several more weeks, We'd like to wish them a lot of courage and good job!

On Tuesday May 7th, we had the pleasure to hold a scientific event with a panel of Dutch Bluetongue experts and on our vaccine, the available for use in the sheep and cattle herds. During this session, followed by a round-table discussion, our aim was to answer the many questions from field veterinarians. The event, which took place in in the Netherlands, followed the approval for emergency use by the Dutch Health authorities, that was granted on April 26th. The journey was rich in learning, knowledge-sharing and emotions.
It's very difficult to explain in just a few words all the content of the presentations but above all, the emotions that were running through the minds of those present, because on that day 7th of May, vaccinations had begun on the farms managed by two of our speakers, and in most of the farms supervised by the vets in the audience. There was joy, gratitude, relief, pride, a certain degree of anxiety and sadness too, because the situation at the end of 2023 is still very present on people's minds.
Many technical and practical questions were answered by all the experts, some of which reflected both the concern of being confronted once again with this BTV-3 epidemic and a form of joy and relief at knowing that at the very moment many animals were being vaccinated.
We would like to express our immense respect for the vets and farmers in the Netherlands and hope that, beyond the psychological effects that will take time to heal, we have provided them with a meaningful solution that will help them get through the midges’ season with greater serenity.
Our thanks go to all the key notes speakers for their high value presentations and for answering the many questions asked by the participants.

At the same time, vets in the Netherlands were starting to vaccinate on a massive scale, thanks to an extraordinary mobilisation of the entire profession, from veterinary students to retired vets, in an extraordinary impulse of solidarity, the Belgian Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAMHP) was in the process of examining closely in the details the data of the studies we carried out in the last month, as part of the registration dossier for our BTV3 vaccine.
After a lot of interactions with our Regulatory and Registration teams in León, on Wednesday 8 May , The FAMHP informed us that they too have decided to authorise the use of our BTV3 vaccine according to the Article 110(2) of Regulation (EU) 2019/6.
The FAMHP, considered that the results available from the clinical studies carried out provided sufficient data on the safety, quality, and efficacy of the vaccine from Syva to authorise its use in sheep and cattle, and to allow vaccination to be carried out as quickly as possible before the season of activity of the disease vector midges.
We would like to congratulate our teams at Syva for the extra work they are doing since weeks and month to allow this great challenge which is the battle against this aggressive BTV serotype to be a success! Again, Well done Team!
We can tell Belgian vets and farmers that we are not We're keeping up the pressure to ensure that the vaccines are delivered as quickly as possible to Fendigo NV/SA, the appointed distributor.

🤗 No os contaremos nada nuevo si decimos que en la vida de una empresa hay momentos de actividad muy intensa, en los que los proyectos van fructificando al mismo tiempo y durante los cuales pedimos mucho más esfuerzo y flexibilidad a nuestros colaboradores.
A veces todo se acelera, y tenemos la sensación de que estamos de enhorabuena. Éstos son los momentos en los que recogemos los frutos de todo este duro trabajo. 🤗
El mismo día que se anunció en la prensa que las autoridades holandesas habían aprobado el uso de emergencia de nuestra vacuna BTV3, el 26 de abril se celebró en la Universidad de León las tradicionales festividades de San Isidoro.
En esta ocasión se entregan numerosos premios y galardones, entre ellos el acto de entrega del Premio Internacional Syva de la Universidad como cada año desde 27 años.
Tuvimos el inmenso honor de recibir el "Premio a la Transferencia de Resultados de Investigación en la categoría de Reconocimiento a la Empresa" de manos del Rector Magnífico de la Universidad de León. Queremos agradecer al Consejo Social de la Universidad de León la concesión a Syva de este premio. Nos sentimos profundamente emocionados y honrados.

Nos complace anunciar que nuestra vacuna contra el VLA 3 ha sido autorizada para uso de emergencia en los Países Bajos en virtud del artículo 110 (2) del Reglamento (UE) 2019/6.
Describir la energía y el compromiso de todos nuestros equipos en los departamentos implicados en el proceso, durante los últimos meses, es difícil, ya que nos está suscitando hoy tantas emociones.

🎙 HABLEMOS : “Tras la aparición de los primeros brotes en 2004, la amenaza del virus de la lengua azul es constante tanto en España, como en varios países de Europa. Desde hace más de 20 años, trabajamos codo con codo con veterinarios y ganaderos, protegiendo a millones de vacas y ovejas frente al virus BTV.”

✅ Nos ha parecido importante transmitir nuestros conocimientos acumulados sobre esta enfermedad, y reafirmar nuestro compromiso con la ciencia veterinaria y con la mejora de la salud y el bienestar de los animales. Por eso hemos pedido a especialistas que compartan con nosotros sus puntos de vista y resuman sus investigaciones y experiencia desde sus respectivos puestos.
