Feliz Navidad, God jul and Merry Christmas from all of us here at the SOS finca in Spain.

We would like to thank all our friends and supporters who make it possible for us to do what we do. It’s been another tough year and please know that every single euro we receive is very much appreciated and carefully spent.

There are too many people to name and thank individually but you all know who you are. Have a lovely Christmas.

Very busy early morning but we now have four dogs on their way to new lives in Sweden.
Tormenta, Akela and Polo are on their way to Stockholm and little Podenco Tina should be landing in Copenhagen about now.

Big thankyou to Lena our SOS Sweden President who flew the Arlanda dogs home and for all the hard work she does for the dogs at that end. Plus a big thanks to Tony Byford who stepped out of his retirement this morning to help with the pre dawn flights.

After the rains and floods we now have grass for the first time in a very long time
Akela is one of next weeks lucky travellers so hopefully she’ll love snow too

Emma was finally ready to get her first vaccine today😁
Here she is enjoying closely supervised muzzle free time relaxing on the volunteers sofa.
There’s still more vaccines, repeat jaw X-ray, hip x-rays, neuter….. but it feels like we’re making progress now. She can even go a little longer muzzle free without thinking she must eat anything close to hand.

We received a delivery from Sweden today - some of our flight cages coming back but some lovely donations too. Here’s Samson running around with a new blanket that he’s picked out and little Teija enjoying one of the chew sticks❤️

We had a little bit of on and off rain this afternoon and Polaca came up with the perfect place to spend her garden playtime - the clean dog bedding store. Clever girl❤️

We’re trying to think of a way of stopping Emma from trying to eat anything and everything when she’s enjoying muzzle free time. She’s still on four meals a day so she should never feel hungry.

Just to let all our followers know that everyone here is wet but safe!
This last few days the long awaited and much needed rain has come but of course, with the crazy climate these days, it’s extreme.
Our finca is saturated but the dogs are mainly staying in their houses and the two on site volunteers are doing their best to make sure that at least their bedding is dry.
The storms aren’t over yet but so far we’ve been lucky. So sad to see all over social media that people and many animals have drowned.

Emma has just had her stitches out and she’s gained another two kilos ❤️

Today little Pod Tina moved in to SOS. The first SOS dog that Tina met in the garden was Emma. Emma was weighed on her vet check yesterday. She’s already regained 5kg since coming home from hospital so hopefully just a few more weeks and people will no longer be upset when they see her for the first time.

Emma❤️
Even in her poor weak state she survived the surgery last weekend. She’s been back home at the shelter for a couple of days now.
Sadly she’s lost the weight we had managed to get on her but despite everything she’s always hungry so we start again with four very small meals a day.
Emma thinks everything should go in her mouth and there’s no way we can repeat the surgery if the wrong things are eaten again before she’s even healed so for now she wears a muzzle which only comes off for eating, drinking and when it’s possible to watch her every second. She’s now living in a large crate in the volunteer house but she gets to come out in the garden many times throughout the day.
In reality poor Emma is an expensive, big rehab project that’s taking a lot of effort but she’s a lovely young dog that’s obviously had a terrible life yet she’s still so loving and trusting. We carry on doing our best for her❤️
