📢 Summer hours update 🌞

Due to rising temperatures, the safety of our donkeys, volunteers and visitors is our top priority. 🐾♥️

in July and August, our rescue center will be open during shortened summer hours.

We appreciate your understanding and continued support during the warmer months! Please plan your visits accordingly and stay cool 💧

🐾 We need your help, local friends🙏

We have a bit of a unique situation at our donkey rescue center and we're reaching out to our amazing local community for help. 💛

We currently have two lovely, friendly cats who have been living with us and are now looking for a safe, loving forever home. These two deserve all the cuddles and care a family can give and we’d love to see them settled somewhere special. 🐱❤️

At the same time, we’ve had an increasing number of feral cats around the rescue. Unfortunately, their presence has led to a problem: cat p**p is affecting the hooves of our donkeys, causing painful infections that not only put their health at risk but are also expensive to treat. 🐾🐴💔

We are looking for:
👉 Adopters for our 2 friendly cats
👉 We can’t keep the feral cats here anymore— we need help or advice from anyone experienced in humane feral cat relocation or management
👉 If you're experienced or open to it, we’re looking for people willing to give these cats a second chance — with time and patience, many can become loving house cats.

This is truly urgent. We love animals of all kinds and we know there are a lot of cats looking for a loving home but we have to protect the donkeys in our care. If you can help by adopting, fostering or helping us rehome, please get in touch with us. 🙏

🌿🐴 Forever home vibes! 🐴🌿

A few months ago, Ludo found his forever home and he’s been thriving ever since! He joined fellow rescue stars Rocco and Valiente, who’ve been enjoying life in their forever home for over a year now. 💚 The three boys are getting along beautifully and seeing their bond grow truly warms our hearts. 💞

This is the heart of what we do: Rescue, Recuperate and Rehome. Watching Ludo, Rocco, Valiente and all our other adopted donkeys, flourish in their loving homes is what makes it all worthwhile.

Thinking of adopting donkeys? Here's what you’ll need (besides a big heart ❤️):

✔️ A license to keep donkeys
✔️ Land: minimum of 500 square meters per donkey
✔️ Stables/shelters (ideally concrete, one for quarantine)
✔️ A permanent, filtered water source
✔️ Dry, covered food storage
✔️ Poo collection on concrete (not on soil)
✔️ Proof of where the poo goes (farm or big land)
✔️ And most importantly… a whole lot of love 🫶♥️💞💝❣️💕

🎉🎂 Happy 3 Months, León! 🎂🎉

Our sweet baby donkey León is 3 months old now! 🥰🐴 Time is flying and he’s growing into such a curious, strong little guy.

Big milestone alert: León got his first anti-parasite treatment! 🧼✨ This will protect him from harmful parasites and keep him healthy as he explores the world with those wobbly little hooves. 🐾

Looking ahead — at 6 months, León will receive his first vaccinations, an important step to protect him from serious diseases and help him grow into a happy, healthy donkey.

Let’s all wish León a very Happy 3 Months! 🎈🎊 We’re so proud of our little long-eared bundle of joy! 💛

🌿 Meet Wilbur 💔🫏
This boy has already stolen our hearts.

Yesterday evening, the vet came to give Wilbur his first vaccination and internal anti-parasite treatment. He did so well 🙏🏻💉

But this is just the beginning of his road to recovery.

🦶 His hooves need urgent care. Before our farrier can begin treatment, we need x-rays to understand how his bones have grown inside the hoof.

🦷 His teeth are in bad condition. They’ve probbaly never been checked in his entire life and it shows. A dental visit is needed.

Rescuing and starting the care for each donkey like Wilbur costs us around €800 — covering transport, vaccinations, x-rays, farrier work and dental checkups. Every euro counts and every share helps us continue this mission.

🚨 Abandoned donkey situation in Coin area 🚨

Yesterday, we received a message about an abandoned donkey spotted in the Coin area. After seeing photos and videos, we were very concerned and immediately went to check on him. We asked around to learn more about his story and where he came from. Also we have checked him for a microchip, which he has. We will be consulting with our veterinarian today to make sure the donkey won't be returned to his owner.

When we arrived, local police also showed up and informed us that we are not allowed to take the donkey to our rescue center. According to them, the donkey must stay there overnight so a nearby dog shelter(that also has a "satble" area can pick him up today.

This is the difficult reality we’re facing: local authorities sending donkeys to dog shelters and prohibiting us from rescuing abandoned donkeys ourselves. We’ve been fined in the past for attempting to do so.

Additionally, there’s another donkey found in the same area that another rescue center in Coín is currently caring for. This situation has raised serious concerns for us, and we will continue monitoring this area closely to protect these animals.

🌕✨ The Strawberry Full Moon is shining bright tonight! ✨🌕

The full moon was at its peak last night and this morning, but officially, tonight is when the Strawberry Full Moon graces the sky — shining just as bright as it did yesterday.

🐴 And what about donkeys? Do they feel the moon’s magic?

Just like many animals, donkeys can become a bit more active or restless during full moons due to the extra light. However, they don’t experience any major changes or behavioral issues. So if you notice a donkey acting a little livelier or more curious tonight, it could be the moon’s gentle influence at work!

Enjoy the glowing skies and maybe share a peaceful moment with your four-legged friends under the magical moonlight! 🍓🌙
