Great analogy! 👍
The importance of understanding canine behavior
Imagine you've been invited to a party, and when you arrive, you find that nobody in the room speaks your language.
You try to communicate, but no one understands you, and no one pays attention.
After a while, you become frustrated, nervous, and need to find the bathroom. Unfortunately, you don't know where it is, so you try using signs with your hands and as much body language as the situation allows you to ask for directions.
It doesn't work, and you become more worried, speaking louder with a slightly desperate tone in your voice. As you grow more concerned, the other guests start looking at you, making you feel even worse. They decide that you are a bit strange and start to ignore you.
Can you imagine how that would feel? How much would you wish that just one person in the room could speak your language and comprehend your natural needs?
Would it help you, if somebody came along, grabbed you, made you sit on a chair, and with a raised index finger pointing at you said "shhhhhh" to calm you down and make you feel better. Would you consider that person as helpful, understanding, or somebody you can trust?
Can you guess how our dogs feel in certain situations?
By taking the time to learn about your dog's communication/behavior, needs, and triggers, you can create a deeper bond based on trust and respect.
By meeting our dog's physical, mental, and emotional needs, we make sure that they are happy, healthy, and content. This leads to a decrease in anxiety, aggression, and other problematic behaviors, as well as an increase in confidence, trust, and the wish for cooperation.
