Thank you to everyone that has helped.
Our concerns are based on what happened at Esprineco in Cieza in 2023, lack of transparency, volunteers only allowed in for 4 hours and public by appointment, apparent lack of facilities for 70 plus dogs.

The news could not be any worse. After the massive effort to save the Librilla animals, (11 dogs and 2 cats) from going to Esprineco this now happens.
Lorca council have now made the decision that the contract for the collection of dogs and cats will be awarded to Esprineco. This is for the next 3 years.
Please research Esprineco and you will immediately see why we have huge concerns for the welfare of animals abandoned in the Lorca area. The contract is for 3 years, at this time it appears that dogs and cats will be removed from the Anguimar facility at Los Infiernos.
There are at least 73 dogs that we know of and 44 cats. We understand that appealing to Lorca Town Hall directly is our only option. We want to;
1. Stop Espirenco from having this contract.
2. Keep our dogs and cats at Anguimar at Los Infiernos.

In our opinion, this decision does not support animal welfare.
