Lenny Fernández devoted part of her life to protecting animals in Pasto, long before an earthquake put her to the cruelest test.

When the magnitude 7.4 quake brought down the Ana Pilar building in Cali, the lawyer was trapped beneath the rubble alongside Salomón, her dog. Rescue teams took hours to reach them, and what they found left them speechless: Lenny’s body was covering the animal, as if in her final moments she had thought only of shielding him.

She did not make it out alive. Salomón did, and he was immediately taken for medical care. Those who knew her at the Pasto Animal Defense Board agree on one thing: protecting an animal was not an improvised act for Lenny; it was the way she had always lived. That instinct ultimately became the reason Salomón is still breathing today.

Polish lawmakers have voted to ban keeping dogs permanently chained or constantly left outside. 🐶

Poland’s parliament has approved new rules aimed at improving the living conditions of dogs. The decision bans keeping dogs chained for long periods or leaving them outside permanently without proper care.

Animal welfare groups have long argued that constant chaining can cause stress, injury, and behavioral problems for dogs. The new regulations aim to ensure that pets are treated more like companions rather than guard objects.

Supporters say the law reflects a growing awareness of animal welfare across Europe. As societies learn more about animal behavior and wellbeing, governments are increasingly adopting stronger protections.

FINALLY! Big, big news for dog owners in Spain! 🐕✨

If you live in Spain or visit often with your pup, you know the struggle: getting around with a dog over 10 kg used to mean renting a car or skipping trips altogether.

Well, Renfe just changed the game! 🎉

Starting July 21st, dogs weighing up to 40 kg are officially allowed on almost all major Renfe trains across Spain, including the high-speed AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Euromed, Intercity, Avant, and Media Distancia.

No more leaving your four-legged best friend behind when you want to explore a new city, escape to a coastal town, or head off for a weekend getaway.

Here’s a quick breakdown of what you need to know before booking:

* Weight Limit: Dogs up to 40 kg (a massive upgrade from the old 10 kg rule!).
* Train Types: Covers high-speed AVE trains as well as regional and medium-distance routes.
* Requirements: Your dog will need to be leashed, muzzled during boarding/walking through carriages, and rest comfortably on a special mat at your feet.
* Tickets: You’ll need to add a pet ticket when booking your seat on the Renfe website or app.
