On Thursday we had two lovely old felines in the hospital: Dudu, 17 years old, with septic arthritis and Boomer, 16 years, who is a diabetic and had to have dental treatment.
Both are recovering really well. 😍

This poor three year old cat was living in constant pain with a mouth full of teeth that were going to mean a lifetime of suffering. There is no viable medical solution for these patients. Although it seems drastic, a full mouth extraction is the only chance for a cure. They are usually so happy once those teeth are gone for good. These operations are extremely difficult to carry out well and can take 3-4 hours of work by a vet. We are happy to say that she is doing great a week after her surgery. 🤩

This is a large bladder stone removed from a small dog here at CalviaVet. These patients usually recover very well after surgery and new stones can be prevented simply by keeping them on a special diet.

Caso del mes de agosto:
Emma, ​​de 9 años, habría mu**to de una hemorragia interna sin una transfusión de sangre de nuestro héroe donante, Draco. Estaba enferma con una infección transmitida por garrapatas llamada anaplasmosis, que provocó que su propio sistema inmunológico destruyera todas sus plaquetas. Como su sangre no podía coagularse, comenzó a sangrar espontáneamente y quedó peligrosamente anémica. La transfusión le dio tiempo a su cuerpo para responder al tratamiento inmunosupresor y nos complace decir que tiene un recuento normal de plaquetas y que le está yendo muy bien. Much as gracias a Draco y su dueña por su ayuda 😍

Smokey believed he could fly and jumped from a second story! He smashed all the metacarpals in his landing leg but was otherwise fine! Thanks to our local orthopaedic specialist , Ricardo de Sousa from he is all fixed and making an amazing recovery.
