📣🙏Urgent help needed for the Lorca cats 🙏📣

If you follow the page then you will be aware that the Lorca contract changed, putting all the dogs and the cats at risk. But did you know on average there is only 1 cat adoption to every 20 dog adoptions, some months there might even be zero cat adoptions whilst more cats arrive every day, often in deplorable conditions.

Many people who visit the shelter aren't even aware that hidden out the back of the dog cages there is an entire cat section with around 100 cats waiting to be chosen.

As the chances of our cats getting homes is so much lower we need your help to share their plight alongside the dogs.

Did you know the Spanish refer to the explorer Christopher Columbus as Cristóbal Colón.....

Well ....Meet our new boy COLON named after him. We really want him to explore the world and not be confined to a small concrete cage.

Immediate adoption of Colon is required as he is one of the dogs from Lorca and will be transferred to far inferior kennels very shortly unless we can find him a home.

I've just arrived, I am a male mixed breed, nearly 2 years old. I am a medium sized boy.

I have made a great first impression on volunteer Ruth, she says I am one of the easiest dogs she walks. She reports that I am very good on the lead, and I don't pull.

I share with 3 other dogs at the moment with no issues and I was not bothered with the other dogs we met on our walk on Monday.

Ruth says I am "very adoptable"🤗

There’s usually a queue to walk 3 year old, small Mastin, Alexia and kennel mate Lucky. Paula and Linda were first in the queue yesterday!! Here is Paula telling you about her.

One of my favourite dogs to walk! I do not understand why she has not found a forever home. Lovely girl, can be timid but with the right family would be an amazing companion. Walks well on the lead and no known issues with other dogs.’

Everything crossed for Alexia now, she’s had a rough start to life, she flinches at sudden movements so we think she’s been abused. To make matters even worse, she comes from Lorca and will be moved unless a hero adopts her.

She already has an angel on her side as £200 has been pledged to help her transport costs (if required). We HAVE to make sure she now goes to the loving, forever home she deserves. Can you help? Her time is running out.

He’s a wonderful boy, quite strong, he would benefit from training and a lead such as a halti, gentle leader, dogmatic etc.

He doesn’t deserve to go to Esprineco, we have serious concerns on how long he will survive there.

Carol is a beautiful young girl (10/12/22) - both inside and outside! She is great with all the dogs she has met at the pound, and she absolutely loves people and cuddles. Carol is very slim at the moment but is classed as a large mixed breed.

Buddy….by Paula

‘’When I approached Buddy’s kennel he jumped up, happy to see me. He is a very gentle boy, now in kennel on his own as his kennel mate has been homed, he misses her. He’s a bit nervous but walks well on the lead and loves a cuddle. When I returned him to his kennel he wanted to play, I think he felt safer there. Love this boy, he has been there too long but he is fully sponsored now so fingers crossed he’ll find a good home very soon.’ 🤞🤞🤞

Just when we thought we could not get anymore bad news, we receive yet another blow💔💔💔

HAYS our wonderful Pitbull Terrier
(PPP), who has been reserved and waiting for months for his new owner license to come through has now had his reservation CANCELLED.

We are all totally heartbroken for him. He has been at the shelter for over 1 year now.

We have very limited options for Hays, despite him being a lovely natured boy who is good with other dogs, because he is a Pitbull he needs a license and insurance to be adopted in Spain and people just can't be bothered to apply.

Even worse, his breed is banned in the UK so he is really limited in his adoption prospects.

TOMY, mixed Bully breed male PPP, aged 1 year

Here's our handsome boy TOMY pictured here in his small cage.

Poor Tomy, no one comes for him to take him to his forever home. He waits day in day out hoping that someone who loves a Bully breed and knows they are loving companions will discover him and give him all the time, love and attention he deserves.

Will we ever find him someone? We really hope so.
