Last Hope Ranch is a voluntary non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, beaten and abandoned dogs, promoting the status and living conditions of dogs and their mental and physical well-being, finding a responsible family and a loving eternal home for them. One of the main principles of the association is to support sterilization in our t

arget countries and thereby reduce the number of stray dogs ethically, humanely and permanently. One of the most important activities of the Last Hope Ranch Association is education, as knowledge and skills are the starting point for all thinking and action. In many countries, stray dogs are ill-treated, dogs are beaten, tortured and killed, the law is incomplete or not enforced in animal crimes. FR � // NOTRE MISSION AU SÉNÉGAL :

Last Hope Ranch (Le Ranch du Dernier Espoir) est une association à but non lucratif dont l'objectif est de sauver des chiens négligés, battus ou abandonnés, en mettant un point central sur leurs conditions de vie, ainsi que leur bien-être physique et mental, en leur trouvant une famille responsable et un foyer aimant où ils pourront rester définitivement. Un des principes fondamentaux de l'association est de soutenir des campagnes de stérilisations dans nos pays cibles, et ainsi de réduire le nombre des chiens errants d'une manière éthique, humaine et définitive. Une des activités les plus importantes de l'association Last Hope Ranch est également l'éducation : en effet, la connaissance et les compétences sont le point de départ de toute réflexion et de tout acte. Dans de nombreux pays, les chiens errants sont maltraités, battus, torturés et tués, une loi appropriée fait défaut ou n'est pas appliquée dans le cas des crimes commis sur les animaux. Last Hope Ranch ry on vapaaehtoisvoimin toimiva voittoa tavoittelematon suomalainen järjestö, jonka tehtävänä on pelastaa kodittomia, laiminlyötyjä, pahoinpideltyjä ja hylättyjä koiria, edistää koirien asemaa ja elinolosuhteita sekä niiden henkistä ja fyysistä hyvinvointia,löytää niille vastuullinen perhe ja rakastava ikuinen koti. Yhdistyksen yksi tärkeimmistä toimintaperiaatteista on tukea sterilointeja kohdemaassamme ja sitä kautta vähentää kulkukoirien määrää eettisesti,humaanisti ja pysyvästi. Yksi Last Hope Ranch yhdistyksen toiminnan muotoja on valistus,sillä tieto ja osaaminen ovat kaiken ajattelun ja toiminnan lähtökohtia. Monissa maissa kulkukoiria kohdellaan huonosti, koirien pahoinpitely, kiduttaminen ja tappaminen siirtyy sukupolvelta toiselle, lain säädäntö on puutteellinen tai sitä ei noudateta eläimiin kohdistuvissa rikoksissa. Adoptio toiminnan aloitamme 2022 vuoden aikana! TILANNE SENEGALISSA! Senegalissa koirien ja myös muiden eläintenasema yhteiskunnassa on todella huono. Tilanne on todella haastava eikä rahaa koirien hoitamiseen tai edes ruokkimiseen ole usein mahdollinen. Koirista valtaosa elää kaduilla ja rannoilla, eläimiä kohtaan puuttuu empatia ja heitä kohdellaan usein todella julmasti. Löytyy kissanpentuja joilta lapset ovat kaivaneet silmät pois, koiria joiden selkä murtunut kun heitetty tiilillä, koirilta leikataan korvat, hakataan veitsellä jalkapoikki, poltetaan kuumalla vedellä, jätettään maakuoppaan kuolemaan. Lapsille opetetaan jo pienenä aikuisten esimerkillä eläinten julma kohtelu, tämä käytös siirtyy sukupolvelta toiselle. Senegalin valtio järjestää myrkytys kamppanioita ja toimii heille helpoimmalla tavalla katukoirien kannan harventamisessa. Valtio ei halua osallistua koirien sterilointiin tai muuhun pitkäkestoiseen inhimilliseen kannan vähentämiseen. Myrkytyksissä koirat kuolevat kitumalla päiviä. Tehtävämme on myös yrittää viedä tietoa valtion päättäjille paremmista ja kestävämmistä vaihtoehdoista koirien määrän hallitsemiseksi. Koirien hakkaaminen, silpominen, kivittäminen, tappaminen on arkipäivää Senegalissa. Rikosoikeudelliseen vastuuseen teoista ihmiset ei joudu. Lainsäädäntö eläinten julmasta kohtelusta on lapsenkengissä, eikä sitä noudateta. Toiminnallamme pyrimme vaikuttamaan koirien lisääntymiseen sterilisaatioiden kautta ja valistus tapahtumilla opettamaan ja kertomaan eläinten paremmasta kohtelusta. Eläinsuojelu työn tekeminen Senegalissa on todella hankalaa varojen puutteen vuoksi. Lahjoitukset paikallisilta ihmisiltä ovat minimaalisia, maassa vallitsee laaja köyhyys. Ulkomaalaiset avustusjärjestöt eivät maassa toimi. Tee lahjoitus! Pienikin lahjoitus auttaa. Jokainen lahjoitettu euro merkitsee paljon heille joilla ei ole mitään. Auta jo tänään !

Dina ❤️
Today we celebrate Dina 🎉
Today it is three years since Dina traveled to Finland to her new adoption home (24.6.2021).
Dina is the association's first adoption in Finland and the biggest reason for founding the Last Hope Ranch Association.

Dina puppy was found in February 2020 at a landfill in Ndayane village, dehydrated and hungry.
Finland Dina's injured knee was repaired by surgery.

Dina is a happy and playful girl who loves snow.

Bakari journey from the street to adoption family in Finland❣️

In November 2023, the association's volunteers found a severely malnourished dog on Mbour street that could no longer stand up.
It was found out in extensive veterinary examinations
In addition to severe malnutrition, extensive skin inflammation from thousands of fleas and parasites, various degrees of skin damage, deformity in the testicles.

After the treatments, the boy named Bakari was transferred to home care in Dakar. Daily washings and a special diet continued for months,testicles were removed. Weight started to increase and Bakari, who had already given up on life, became an energetic and playful handsome boy.

In April 2024, Bakari traveled to Finland to his forever loving home!

Bakari has started a new life ❤️

Zalika story
(happy ending)

In August 2023, a video was sent to the association which the puppy was badly injured. The association's volunteer immediately went on a rescue mission to Joal village.There waiting puppy which was badly burned on hind legs and tail.

The veterinarian's examinations revealed that the knee had such deep burns that the kneecap was almost completely destroyed, some bones were missing from the tail, other leg and the hock joint were broken. The puppy was also diagnosed with parvo virus.
The puppy was named Zalika.

After days of fighting, Zalika survived the parvo and began a long rehabilitation injuries that are still being treated.
Zalika has recovered well and the energetic teenager can run and jump, the pain and suffering is over.

In March 2024, Zalika traveled to her forever home Finland. Zalika has several Senegalese laobe dog friends home.

Dakar cat ❣️

In November 2023, during the association's other rescue mission, a motionless kitten was spotted on the side of the road in a warang, Senegal. The kitten was in a critical condition and needed treatment quickly.
Kitten survived the first night with hydration and intensive treatment. In the morning kitten got to the vet and recovery began slowly but surely in a loving foster home.

Kitten was first named Milka/Mika and later Dakar. The Finnish cat rescue association Kissankulma ry obtained an adoption for Dakar a family in Finland, and in May 2024 Dakar traveled to Finland.
Dakar is grew into a strong and handsome boy!

Our beloved Diambar lost his battle against cancer today. We fought and tried everything we could against this terrible disease.
He fell into eternal sleep on the beach he loved, surrounded by love. Now you are free. We miss you forever dear Diambar!

- MASSACRE DE CHIENS À CAP SKIRRING 🇸🇳⚠️

Ils s'appelaient Diambar, Sacha... ou encore Lion.

Nous ne reverrons jamais ces chiens et ces chiennes.
Ils ont été victimes d’un massacre organisé.

Leur crime ? Exister.

👉🏾 𝗤𝗨𝗘 𝗦'𝗘𝗦𝗧-𝗜𝗟 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘 ?

L'horreur.

Le week end dernier, les services d'hygiène et le technicien vétérinaire les accompagnant, auraient procédé à une "opération d'enlèvement des animaux errants" au niveau du rond-point et de l'aéroport de Cap Skirring, ainsi qu'au village des Pêcheurs.

Cette campagne d'empoisonnement a été perpétrée sans aucune information préalable ni à la population, ni aux associations locales de protection animale.

Selon des témoins, choqués par la scène, plus d'une vingtaine de chiens auraient été massacrés, leurs cadavres gisant à divers endroits avant d'être collectés.
Les chiens ne seraient pas les seules victimes de cette tuerie.

Révoltés de voir leur compagnon à quatre pattes assassiné de la sorte, des jeunes sénégalais s’en sont pris à l’équipe en cause à coup de jets de pierre. La gendarmerie aurait été sollicitée pour les raisonner.
Leur colère, sur fond d'injustice, montre clairement la désapprobation de ces procédés cruels d'un autre âge.

Ces méthodes archaïques doivent cesser. Surtout quand les associations locales mènent avec succès des campagnes de stérilisations-vaccinations, comme celles des dernières semaines.

Last Hope Ranch déplore et condamne fermement ces actes indignes et atroces.

En même temps que ces animaux agonisent dans une souffrance intolérable, c’est l’image du Sénégal à l’international qui souffre.
Le Sénégal, pourtant réputé pays de la Terranga, de l'accueil et de la gentillesse de ses habitants.

Nos efforts continus de travailler main dans la main avec les autorités locales pour stopper ces odieuses campagnes d’empoisonnement se poursuiveront.

Protéger les animaux et la population demeure notre raison d’être, malgré les atrocités qui persistent à deux pas de chez nous.

Nous ne lâcherons rien.

🇸🇳 Il y a plus de 2 ans déjà nous débutions nos actions en Casamance avec Auré Lilia et Catherine Ancelin.

Résultat ? Une dizaine de campagnes organisées et plus de 150 à 200 chiens et chats stérilisés et vaccinés contre minimum la rage dans la zone, en plus de soins spécialisés apportés.
Sans citer les nombreux cas de sauvetages de chiens et chats en détresse, malades ou blessés.

La campagne de MAI 2023 compte parmi ces succès et avait été très bien accueillie par la population.

Dear Friends,
the 10th LHR sterilisation/vaccination campaign in Cap Skirring, Senegal was very busy, and still a great success!

✅ We had a total of 39 appointments:
- 17 sterilisations:
13 female dogs 🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕🐕
2 male dogs 🐕🐕
2 female cats 🐈🐈

- 32 vaccinations against at least rabies

1 animal out of 2 could benefit from Last Hope Ranch Ry program.

👉🏿 This 10th campaign raises the number of 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟱𝟬 + 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟬 𝘃𝗮𝗰𝗰𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 ones in Cap Skirring region since beginning of 2022.

Aujourd'hui Last Hope Ranch Ry tient particulièrement à remercier Marilou Paws Up comportementaliste et éducatrice canine à Lille, France.
En effet, suite à un séjour au Cap Skirring, elle a été particulièrement touchée par les laobés dans le besoin qu'elle a pu croiser sur son chemin, et a souhaité apporter sa pierre à l'édifice.
Interpelée par le dévouement et travail acharné mené par Last Hope Ranch au Sénégal, elle a donc créé une cagnotte participative auprès de sa communauté, récoltant ainsi la somme de :

𝟯𝟲𝟮,𝟲𝟴€ (𝗲𝗻𝘃. 𝟮𝟯𝟴.𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗙𝗖𝗙𝗔)

Grâce à cette somme, 4 chiennes vont par exemple pouvoir être stérilisées et vaccinées lors d'une prochaine campagne.
En outre, Last Hope Ranch poursuit en parallèle son projet de refuge pour animaux dans le besoin.

Last Hope Ranch would like to give a special thank to Marilou, dog behaviourist and trainer based in France.
While she was staying at Cap Skirring, Senegal, she got really upset about the laobes in need that crossed her path.
She wanted to bring her own contribution.

Since she was positively surprised by Last Hope Ranch's dedication and positive actions for the animals in the area, she decided to create a fundraising and collected:

Vous vous souvenez de Bakari, un des chiens errants secouru par Tero Savikari et Jemina Savikari en novembre dernier, amaigri, faible, et dans une mauvaise condition générale ? Le voici aujourd'hui !

Grâce au travail acharné de son adorable famille d'accueil Saskia Van Hoof, Bakari a repris du poids et son pelage est devenu bien plus beau. Il reçoit également un traitement médical approprié.

Prochainement il sera en mesure de partir en Finlande dans sa famille d'adoption !

Thanks to his kind host family Saskia Van Hoof, Bakari gained weight and his coat is so much more beautiful. He's also getting appropriate treatment and medication.

Soon he'll be able to fly to his forever family in Finland 🇸🇳❤️🐶🇫🇮

Bakari est un chien retrouvé en très mauvais état par Tero Savikari et Jemina Savikari à M'bour, Sénégal 🇸🇳
Il a de suite été amené chez un vétérinaire pour les premiers soins. Il sera adopté en Finlande d'ici 4 mois, le temps de réaliser les procédures.

Auré Lilia de Last Hope Ranch Ry a eu le plaisir de rendre visite au refuge de Takis Takis Shelter non profit organisation en Crète, Grèce 🇬🇷

Aurélie en a profité pour déposer des dons matériels de nourriture entre autres à titre particulier (merci à Dimitris et Petra du magasin Pet Planet pour leur participation à la cause) afin de soutenir le travail engagé de Takis depuis la création du refuge en 2014.

Takis et son équipe sont souvent appelés pour des sauvetages et le refuge compte à l'heure actuelle environ 350 chiens et chats sur plus de 5 Hectares, dont la plupart attendent une famille pour la vie ! 🐶🐱💖
Les adoptants viennent de toute l'Europe.

Le Premier Ministre grec a visité le refuge cette année, et un nouveau documentaire sur la vie et le parcours de Takis est actuellement en cours de tournage.

Auré Lilia from Last Hope Ranch had the pleasure of visiting Takis Shelter in Crete, Greece 🇬🇷

Aurélie enjoyed the opportunity to bring some donations of food and other stuff on her own initiative (a special thank to Dimitris and Petra of Pet Planet store for their participation) to support Takis shelter and dedication since the creation of the shelter back in 2014.

Lots of cases are reported so that Takis and his team are often called for rescues.
The shelter currently has around 350 dogs and cats on more than 3 hectares, most of which are waiting for a family for life! 🐶🐱💖
Adopters come from all over Europe.

The Greek Prime Minister visited the shelter earlier this year and a new documentary about Takis' life is currently being filmed.

Dina ❤️ Today we celebrate Dina 🎉 Today it is three years since Dina traveled to Finland to her new adoption home (24.6.2021). Dina is the association's first adoption in Finland and the biggest reason for founding the Last Hope Ranch Association. Dina puppy was found in February 2020 at a landfill in Ndayane village, dehydrated and hungry. Finland Dina's injured knee was repaired by surgery. Dina is a happy and playful girl who loves snow. Bakari journey from the street to adoption family in Finland❣️ In November 2023, the association's volunteers found a severely malnourished dog on Mbour street that could no longer stand up. It was found out in extensive veterinary examinations In addition to severe malnutrition, extensive skin inflammation from thousands of fleas and parasites, various degrees of skin damage, deformity in the testicles. After the treatments, the boy named Bakari was transferred to home care in Dakar. Daily washings and a special diet continued for months,testicles were removed. Weight started to increase and Bakari, who had already given up on life, became an energetic and playful handsome boy. In April 2024, Bakari traveled to Finland to his forever loving home! Bakari has started a new life ❤️ We want to thank everyone who helped Bakari, donors, vets, foster home family.

Zalika story (happy ending) In August 2023, a video was sent to the association which the puppy was badly injured. The association's volunteer immediately went on a rescue mission to Joal village.There waiting puppy which was badly burned on hind legs and tail. The veterinarian's examinations revealed that the knee had such deep burns that the kneecap was almost completely destroyed, some bones were missing from the tail, other leg and the hock joint were broken. The puppy was also diagnosed with parvo virus. The puppy was named Zalika. After days of fighting, Zalika survived the parvo and began a long rehabilitation injuries that are still being treated. Zalika has recovered well and the energetic teenager can run and jump, the pain and suffering is over. In March 2024, Zalika traveled to her forever home Finland. Zalika has several Senegalese laobe dog friends home. Thanks to all the donaters, people, veterinary and QUATRE P.A.T - Protection Animale Teranga involved in the Zalika Journey !

Dakar cat ❣️ In November 2023, during the association's other rescue mission, a motionless kitten was spotted on the side of the road in a warang, Senegal. The kitten was in a critical condition and needed treatment quickly. Kitten survived the first night with hydration and intensive treatment. In the morning kitten got to the vet and recovery began slowly but surely in a loving foster home. Kitten was first named Milka/Mika and later Dakar. The Finnish cat rescue association Kissankulma ry obtained an adoption for Dakar a family in Finland, and in May 2024 Dakar traveled to Finland. Dakar is grew into a strong and handsome boy! Thank you to all the Donaters and people involved in the Dakar survival !

⚠️🇸🇳 𝗔𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗜𝗠𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦 𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗦/𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗣𝗛𝗜𝗖 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗧𝗔𝗚𝗘 - MASSACRE DE CHIENS À CAP SKIRRING 🇸🇳⚠️ Ils s'appelaient Diambar, Sacha... ou encore Lion. Nous ne reverrons jamais ces chiens et ces chiennes. Ils ont été victimes d’un massacre organisé. Leur crime ? Exister. 👉🏾 𝗤𝗨𝗘 𝗦'𝗘𝗦𝗧-𝗜𝗟 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘 ? L'horreur. Le week end dernier, les services d'hygiène et le technicien vétérinaire les accompagnant, auraient procédé à une "opération d'enlèvement des animaux errants" au niveau du rond-point et de l'aéroport de Cap Skirring, ainsi qu'au village des Pêcheurs. Cette campagne d'empoisonnement a été perpétrée sans aucune information préalable ni à la population, ni aux associations locales de protection animale. Selon des témoins, choqués par la scène, plus d'une vingtaine de chiens auraient été massacrés, leurs cadavres gisant à divers endroits avant d'être collectés. Les chiens ne seraient pas les seules victimes de cette tuerie. Révoltés de voir leur compagnon à quatre pattes assassiné de la sorte, des jeunes sénégalais s’en sont pris à l’équipe en cause à coup de jets de pierre. La gendarmerie aurait été sollicitée pour les raisonner. Leur colère, sur fond d'injustice, montre clairement la désapprobation de ces procédés cruels d'un autre âge. Ces méthodes archaïques doivent cesser. Surtout quand les associations locales mènent avec succès des campagnes de stérilisations-vaccinations, comme celles des dernières semaines. Last Hope Ranch déplore et condamne fermement ces actes indignes et atroces. Il reçoit également un traitement médical approprié.
