I'm very excited to release the new illustration that I have designed in collaboration for the Kimboza Forest Gecko Project!

I sold merchandise products with the new design at the Hyvinkää reptile fair last weekend and we raised 114€ in sales for the project.

Beautiful girl bred by 💖

Long time no see! I've been having some trouble with my health lately, which is why I've been absent.

It was also a huge disappointment for me to lose the most beautiful Uroplatus phantasticus baby of my own breeding. On top of that, for an unknown reason, I still haven't gotten any good eggs from my Lygodactylus williamsi breeder female.

All of these things together have really taken a toll on my enthusiasm for the hobby, but I'm starting to feel better! I hope and believe that my luck in breeding will get better soon. Here's a picture of a piebald U. henkeli of my own breeding. 🙏✨️❤️

Yesterday, I lost the most beautiful U. phantasticus baby of my own offspring. I was really looking forward to seeing his colors develop and had plans for breeding him in the future.

The capacity of the air conditioner in my reptile room was no longer enough to keep the room cool enough. The temperature of the phantasticus offspring rose to around ~25°C. That's definitely too hot for the young individuals.

I have a thermostat in the reptile room, which starts to alarm if the temperature rises too high. I woke up to the alarm and immediately went to fix the issue, but it was already too late.

It's really depressing to experience setbacks like this, but all I can do is try to make improvements to my setup. This is a good reminder how fragile this species can be. I try to be better and hopefully my dedication and passion for Uroplatus will pay me back.

Rest in peace, the most beautiful creature I have produced. 💔

Recently, I was offered an opportunity to collaborate with the Kimboza Forest Gecko Project with my artwork. I am excited to make my own small contribution to the project and help them save the critically endangered Lygodactylus williamsi from extinction.

The leader of the project, Dr. Heike Maich, contacted me and told me that she really liked my illustration of Lygodactylus williamsi and hoped that the illustration could be used in the project. I agreed of course! The illustration will be printed on merchandice, which will be distributed to European zoos that are involed in the project.

Most of the profits will be used directly for concrete measures in the Kimboza nature reserve, which is one of the last remaining habitats of the Lygodactylus williamsi. The area is actively protected from forest fires and smugglers, for example.

In February 2024, I sent 100 stickers with my illustration to Zoopark Erfurt in Germany, where Dr. Maisch is also the zoo director. Currently, I am working on a new illustration for the project merchandice and can not wait to finish it! I am happy to be able to join the Kimboza Forest Gecko Project and hope to be as big of a help as possible.

Lygodactylus williamsi is a species close to my heart and it is a valuable part of our nature. 🫶🏻

I decided to design a new logo for Luel Reptiles, since geckos have become my main focus as a keeper and breeder.

I really liked the old logo but I don't have that many snakes or frogs in my collection anymore. I wanted the logo to represent more what Luel Reptiles is today, which is why I included my two favorite species - Uroplatus phantasticus and Lygodactylus williamsi.

Since U. phantasticus are called the satanic leaf-tailed geckos and L. williamsi are more colorful and lively, they could be seen as somewhat opposites of eachother.

But still, both species are small dwarf geckos and beautiful in their own way. Which gave me the idea of a yin and yang theme for the logo.

This stunning little boy might be a holdback. At night, his color is pitch black and eyes turn into vibrant red. Truly a satanic leaf-tailed gecko! 11 days old and eating like a champ. 👏
