Update re Lady Bonnie Age 34 years

Lady Bonnie has been under our care 3 months and moved to the rescue 5 weeks ago.
She had quick groom whilst eating her lunch today. Photos 1 to 4 are from today 5th December 2024.
Photos 5 & 6 are from 3rd September 2024.

During the lead up to Christmas we are taking part in several Christmas markets fundraising with our tombola.
We would love any unwanted items that you might have laying around that would be suitable for tombola prizes please.
Sharon will be making some of her famous wreaths, does anyone local have evergreen plants/hedging/trees that they would allow us take cuttings from to make the wreaths please ?
Our first Christmas fayre this year is on the 30th of November at ARK 79 Animal Charity shop

I'll be at the yard

When people have come to visit over the years they commonly hear from me "I'll be at the yard”,

When life gets hard I'll be at the yard.

When things are just right I'll be at the yard.

When the sun shines
The rain falls
Or snow covers the ground
I'll be at the yard.

If things seem to be falling apart or if I'm celebrating the simple things, I'll be at the yard.

When I'm looking for answers or trying to clear my mind, I'll be at the yard.

When I'm looking for myself, I'll be at the yard.

If I'm working or trying to relax, I'll be at the yard.

Even when I'm not in the barn my mind drifts there, I find myself thinking about being at the yard.....

It's where I keep my riches
All my wins and my failures
Every one of my hopes, dreams, hardships and memories.

You can find them all at the yard… buried in the hay, hiding under a halter, spilling out of the feed bins, or glimmering with dust in the evening light.

I may be covered in dust, dirt, feed, hair, and hay, smell of sweat and manure, and sometimes there may be blood or tears but I'll be there. I'll be at the yard.

So if your wondering where to find me, I'll be at the yard. If I'm not there I promise I'm on my way.

One of our hay suppliers called and offered us to buy his surplus of 70 large bales of hay at a much reduced cost of €15 per bale if we could collect straight from the field as soon as possible.
We said yes please as we get through a lot of bales in a year.
Total for the 70 bales €1050.

Bonnie's new multi layer rug arrived today . She has a waterproof turnout rug 100gr, a 100gr liner & a 200gr liner.

Tried them on and they are a lovely fit.
Bonnie is ready for winter.
As you can see she is still gaining weight and condition ###x

Lady Bonnie 34 years old

At the beginning of September Bonnie's owner sadly passed away. Her owner had been unwell for a while. We were approached by a friend from Ark 79 on the day of her death to see if we knew Bonnie and if we could help her. Yes we knew Bonnie as her owner was a friend who had asked us to take care of Bonnie in the event of her death many years ago.
We hadn't seen Bonnie for approximately 2 years.
With the help of other friends we located the lady's sister in the UK and spoke with her later that day.
We agreed to go and assess Bonnie the next morning.
Photos 1& 2 are from our first visit.
We had a video call with the lady's sister whilst assessing Bonnie. We were all shocked by our findings.
We agreed to take over Bonnie's care and reassess Bonnie over the following weeks.
We adjusted Bonnie's feed and a very caring mutual friend agreed to feed Bonnie twice a day for us as Bonnie's home was 45 mins from our rescue, Bonnie was certainly not able to travel in the condition she was in.
We visited once a week to monitor Bonnie's progress.
We have been in regular contact with the Lady's daughter/son-in-law and sister and agreed that Bonnie when fit to travel could come and be cared at Alloue Equine Rescue.
As you can see Bonnie's condition has vastly improved resulting in her move to Alloue Equine Rescue yesterday.
Bonnie has lived alone for many years, been blind in her left for at least 10 years.
A huge thank you to Marc for feeding Bonnie for us and everyone that has made this possible for Lady Bonnie.

Would anyone like to guess her age ?
Ps If you know her age please don't cheat ;)
