To everyone following Lady Bonnie's story it is with great sadness I write this post.
Our beautiful Lady Bonnie enjoyed her breakfast yesterday morning and when we returned at lunchtime with her second feed we discovered she had past away in the field age 34 years.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has followed her story and supported her.

Alloue Equine Rescue
Sorry we have been quiet over the Christmas period but life has been very busy.
Various call outs for equines in distress from members of the public plus the following with Bonnie :

Bonnie had emergency surgery on Christmas Eve to remove her eye due to an abscess.
Bonnie had been blind in her left eye for over 10 years with various flare ups, photo 1 is the usual condition of her eye whilst in the care of her owner.
The day before Christmas eve her left eye was very swollen and sore, photo 2.
Our vet was consulted and he promptly arranged for us to take her to the clinic the following morning for further inspection and probably surgery.
On arrival at the clinic she was seen, sedated and surgery to remove the eye performed.
Since Christmas eve she has been out for supervised walks on a lead rope twice a day to keep her muscles moving with the rest of her time on box rest to keep her dressing in place and clean.
Today she was seen by our vet and her dressing removed.
We are all very pleased with her progress and healing.
Bonnie is very happy with today's progress as she can now go out to graze once again.
She needs to wear a fly mask full time for a couple of weeks.

Update re Lady Bonnie Age 34 years

Lady Bonnie has been under our care 3 months and moved to the rescue 5 weeks ago.
She had quick groom whilst eating her lunch today. Photos 1 to 4 are from today 5th December 2024.
Photos 5 & 6 are from 3rd September 2024.

During the lead up to Christmas we are taking part in several Christmas markets fundraising with our tombola.
We would love any unwanted items that you might have laying around that would be suitable for tombola prizes please.
Sharon will be making some of her famous wreaths, does anyone local have evergreen plants/hedging/trees that they would allow us take cuttings from to make the wreaths please ?
Our first Christmas fayre this year is on the 30th of November at ARK 79 Animal Charity shop

I'll be at the yard

When people have come to visit over the years they commonly hear from me "I'll be at the yard”,

When life gets hard I'll be at the yard.

When things are just right I'll be at the yard.

When the sun shines
The rain falls
Or snow covers the ground
I'll be at the yard.

If things seem to be falling apart or if I'm celebrating the simple things, I'll be at the yard.

When I'm looking for answers or trying to clear my mind, I'll be at the yard.

When I'm looking for myself, I'll be at the yard.

If I'm working or trying to relax, I'll be at the yard.

Even when I'm not in the barn my mind drifts there, I find myself thinking about being at the yard.....

It's where I keep my riches
All my wins and my failures
Every one of my hopes, dreams, hardships and memories.

You can find them all at the yard… buried in the hay, hiding under a halter, spilling out of the feed bins, or glimmering with dust in the evening light.

I may be covered in dust, dirt, feed, hair, and hay, smell of sweat and manure, and sometimes there may be blood or tears but I'll be there. I'll be at the yard.

So if your wondering where to find me, I'll be at the yard. If I'm not there I promise I'm on my way.

One of our hay suppliers called and offered us to buy his surplus of 70 large bales of hay at a much reduced cost of €15 per bale if we could collect straight from the field as soon as possible.
We said yes please as we get through a lot of bales in a year.

Bonnie's new multi layer rug arrived today . She has a waterproof turnout rug 100gr, a 100gr liner & a 200gr liner.

Tried them on and they are a lovely fit.
Bonnie is ready for winter.
As you can see she is still gaining weight and condition ###x
