It is with great sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the untimely passing of our dear volunteer Modwenna Chamberlain on July 31st, 2024.

Modwenna was a volunteer at our charity shop from the very beginning and has been dedicating her time to help with the books.

Everyone who met Modwenna knows how passionate she was about animals and she sure loved books.

We feel very blessed to have met Modwenna and to have had her as a big part of our Green Valley Family.

To remember her by our library will be dedicated to her.

Our thoughts go out to Modwenna’s family and her friends.

May her soul rest in peace.

3 dogs have died after being poisoned in the Callac 22160 area.
Apparently someone has been leaving poison around the Callac lake, but there may be bait laying around elsewhere in Callac.

Gorgeous Albie is looking for a forever home due to his current owner emigrating in 6 weeks time and needs to find a loving safe home as she can not take him with her sadly.

He’s been much loved, used to living inside and exploring outside. He is used to dogs and people, very affectionate, sterilised, vaccinations are all up to date, identified and flea and worm treatment.

Albie is currently in the Meneac 22 area.

Having had a break to allow us to regroup we once again want to be more proactive in rehoming animals in need.

To do that we need volunteers to help with the following admin work:

- responding to emails and Facebook messages
- Liaising between adopters and foster families
- Sending vet vouchers
- Foster and adoption contracts

Yesterday we went to pick up Tarzan, the blind, 10 year old Labrador cross.

Despite it all being so new to him and the fact he’s probably never wore a collar or lead, he took it like a real champ!

Tarzan is now in foster care until his forever home is found.

A big thank you to Olivia and the maire from Calanhel who reached out to us and looked after Tarzan until a solution was found. And to Iris and her husband who kindly offered to foster him. 💕🐾

Following the passing of his owner, this 10 year old, blind boy is urgently looking for a new home.

UPDATE: He is fine with other dogs.

The situation is very urgent. If no home can be found he is at risk of being euthanised.

💕🐶 FOSTER / FOREVER HOME WANTED 🐶💕

This poor little mite was found on a busy road with no owner in sight. After taking her to the vets to verify if she’s identified, it turns out that she’s not.

This little girly may have been abandoned in a forest as no one has yet come forward to claim her. She’s only young (maybe 6-7months), very affectionate and good with other dogs.

We are looking for a foster home until she can be officially adopted.

Today a man came to our shop with his very poorly cat, Marine. He didn’t have the financial means to pay for the vet bills, so he came to us for help. Marine was in an overall very poor condition: he was panting, drooling, falling over, and he was breathing very heavily; he was dehydrated, very anaemic, and his glands were swollen all over his body. 🥺

Fortunately, a few of our team were there to bring in the new donations, and we were able to take him straight to the vets.

Marine had to stay at the vets to undergo several tests to find out exactly what was wrong with him. This evening, we received the phone call to say Marine had tested positive with FIV and FeLV.
Sadly, there was no prospect of recovery for Marine, and he was relived of his pain and put to rest. 😢🌈

We would like to thank all our supporters who help us with cases like this. It’s only because of your support we can help animals in need.

We’re there for all animals who need us, even when all we can do is pay for vet care so that an animal’s suffering can be eased. 😔

Santa’s clean up crew. 🌲

Do you remember little cookie who we rescued a few months ago? After a few visits to the vets, and a very expensive scan, she was diagnosed with two neurological conditions: Cerebellar Hypoplasia and Dandy-Walker Syndrome. These were not conditions we had heard of before and we knew close to nothing about them. Thanks to our great team we gathered as much information together as possible. We found out that dogs with these conditions can have a great quality of life. Within days of her diagnosis, Cookie joined her forever home – and it has been the best home we could have wished for. The whole family has been pulling in the same direction, doing all they can to help Cookie. Cookie is enjoying life to the full, and is making the most of her recent trip to the UK. In the video below, you can see her enjoying herself at her weekly hydrotherapy session. It is really helping her mobility. Thank you once again to all our supporters.
