I love this horse so damn much. He's a complete wimp by nature so to even try this will have taken so much mental energy. This was his 3rd attempt.
Tornado has found his person in my niece 😍 we love scratches!
Poo picking takes so much longer when a donkey asks to 'help'
This merits a full and proper post all of its own when I'm home but today was a WOW kind of day!!!
J'adore trouver les garçons traîner dans les bois. Désolé pour la respiration lourde, porter des filets est définitivement un exercice 😄

Stage 3 of Rosas gradual introduction to the herd.
I have increased the amount of fenceline she shares with the boys, as you can see there is absolutely no fussing from them.
Next I will swap them over a few times so they get used to each others scents and so Rosa learns the boundaries of the track and where any obstacles are before finally putting them together.
One of my biggest considerations when building a track was creating a space I could split into 'mini' tracks like this rather than one loop giving me the opportunity to control introductions and create a quite space if any horse needed medical rest. Another was making sure horses could get out of each others eye line if they needed space, this naturally reduces stress and tension if there is ever conflict within a herd.
This is so funny, when I'm home Billy is 100% the heard leader, if I'm gone more that 36hrs and mums doing the horses Solly immediately takes up the roll of being boss 😆😆😆 they clearly know who's side each of us is on. (Ignore the dog the boys don't mind him, he's a tiny bundle of stupidity)
Everything is looking greener now.
I'm away house sitting at the moment so it's lovely to get photos from my wonderful family of the boys happy and munching hay.
When I say our land is well draining this is the proof, apart and we have gone from floods on the low lands back to streams. The horse fields have remained pretty much mud free all winter!
My sweet boy was a bit grumpy today, he's had some injuries in the past and is sometimes a bit stiff so I like to run him up and check he's no more wonkey than normal. He secretly loves the attention as he was following me about like a big puppy in the field after this 🤣
