This is something everyone puppy buyer should know 🙂
When you get your 8/10 week old puppies please keep this image in mind. The bones don't even touch yet. They walk so beautifully with big, flexible legs and fun movements because their joints are made up entirely of skin-covered muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Nothing is connected or has a real grip yet.
When you over-run them or don't limit their exercise to prevent them from overdoing it during this time, you're not giving them a chance to grow properly. Every big jump or excited bouncing run causes impacts between the bones. In reasonable amounts this is not problematic and is the normal wear and tear that every pet will engage in.
But when you let the pup jump up and down the living room or bed, take him for long walks/hikes, you are damaging this forming joint. When you let the puppy run up and down stairs, you damage the joint.
You only have the chance to form them once. A well-built body is something that comes from great breeding and nurturing – BOTH, not just one.
When tehy are adults, you'll have the rest of your life to spend playing and engaging in high-impact exercise. So keep calm while they're still little baby puppies and give the gift that can only be given once.
Puppies' bones and joints are still developing until they are at least 18 to 24 months old. Too much exercise can seriously damage their bone and joint structures irreversibly and when it is an adult, they will pay the consequences. Enjoy your puppy and let him or her be a puppy ❤
