Hurrah, Poppy and Primrose were transported to their forever home on Saturday afternoon. With time and patience they were encouraged to walk on and off the trailer since Daffodil left. Poppys transport here was pretty horrific but within just a couple of days she was walking onto the ramp and eventually walked all the way in. Clever girl. She is still fearful of people especially strangers but everything was so much easier on Saturday and her new owners, Jane and Jim are very calm and kind. Daffodil is very happy and when Poppy and Primrose joined her she hardly lifted her head. We are all so happy for them, these 3 girls deserve all the love and affection they will get. They also have new friends. PERFECT ❤️

You may remember a few years ago, Emma Leyland and her family adopted our lovely Blossom and Harley.
Well Emma decided to open up her beautiful Chateau (which is for sale btw 😉) to hold an Afternoon Tea along with the local Jazz Choir “Jazz Vocal D’Eymet” that Emma sings in. They also got involved with all the organising and hands on stuff and with the help of her 2 amazing daughters and a couple of our hard working volunteers, Emma and the choir pulled off a brilliant afternoon. There were around 40 people who all enjoyed sandwiches, scones with cream and jam, or was it jam and cream 😅, cakes, tea and coffee or even a glass of fizz for some, all to the sounds of the choir.
An amazing amount of €1000 was raised for HeeHaws. So a huge THANK YOU to Emma, the Jazz Vocal D’Eymet all her helpers, and of course the paying guests ❤️

How lucky were we when our wonderful farrier Gareth said he may know of someone that could be interested in our lovely Daffodil. A client of his, that already had 2 donkeys and 2 horses, (one of which has Cushings disease) had been talking of expanding their herd. We got in touch and after checking out our website (they had also visited us here before) decided that not only would they love to adopt Daffodil but also Poppy and Primrose. We couldn’t quite believe it. They not only have Gareth as their farrier but also Melanie, our wonderful vet. Perfect!
We did our routine home check and everything was set in place. Today, Daffodil left for her forever home. As you can see, her new friends are rather lovely. We are so pleased for her, she has gone from living alone, lame and with untreated Cushings disease to having a 5* pad with her own little herd. Just to add, Monday she also had X-rays to see how her hooves and joints are getting on and since the first X-rays a month ago, she’s improved and heading in the right direction.
Poppy and Primrose however weren’t so excited about leaving. Poppy, who is still very much work in progress, had her vaccinations yesterday and so today was a step too far to leave her safe space. We decided not to rush things and will transport them very soon.

Why we do it.

HeeHaws was formed in December 2017 by Carina, Linda and Angie for the purpose of rescuing and caring for abused and neglected donkeys.

This has been a lifelong dream that is finally starting to come true.

The six donkeys under the wing of HeeHaws have been rescued over the last 10 years.

It was our latest arrival, William, who spurred us into forming HeeHaws. He was neglected, emaciated, dejected and had no sparkle. Knowing that there were so many other donkeys in a similar state to William, the desire to help them and be given the chance to perhaps educate people at the same time became overwhelming. With the encouragement and support of friends and family, the fundraising began and so HeeHaws was born.
