Our beautiful babies have finally gone to their lovely new home. It’s been a long haul for their owners Kelly and Mike as they fell in love with Rupert and Smartie when they first started volunteering at HeeHaws. But they had just starting the house buying process so it would take time and there was no guarantee that they would be able to take them.
Well they found the perfect house that just happened to have a 3.5 hectare garden! It’s taken some time for them to get everything ready, but finally, 3 weeks ago, when everything was in place, we delivered our gorgeous boys.
As you can see they settled down straight away and have felt well and truly at home since. Perfect!!
As a rescue association that aims to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome where possible, we are thrilled when the perfect adopter shows up. It’s the best scenario for the donkeys and us as it gives us the space and time to be able to help more donkeys.
We think Rupert was the biggest donkey we’ve had here so far (and has another year or two of growing) and Smartie is quite possibly the smallest ❤️ They love each other very much and now they have the perfect owners that will love and care for them❤️

Why we do it.

HeeHaws was formed in December 2017 by Carina, Linda and Angie for the purpose of rescuing and caring for abused and neglected donkeys.

This has been a lifelong dream that is finally starting to come true.

The six donkeys under the wing of HeeHaws have been rescued over the last 10 years.

It was our latest arrival, William, who spurred us into forming HeeHaws. He was neglected, emaciated, dejected and had no sparkle. Knowing that there were so many other donkeys in a similar state to William, the desire to help them and be given the chance to perhaps educate people at the same time became overwhelming. With the encouragement and support of friends and family, the fundraising began and so HeeHaws was born.
