So today Is the day that I put on my big girl pants and literally jump out of my comfort zone 😬
I am facing my ridiculous fear of heights for the animals I love at the Devon Horse and Pony Sanctuary and for the lovely people at the and it is worth it.
We have been amazed, stunned and overwhelmed with the support and we have raised more than we could have ever have hoped for, so thank you 🙏 you are all amazing.
I hope by doing this jump it will encourage others to do things that pushes the boundaries.
See you on the other side 😂🤞

* Fundraiser Update *

Update on Retired Police Horses & MS Trust Fundraiser.

Dear All,

It’s Debbie here again with a little update on my Skydiving fundraiser.

https://gofund.me/ba1cc06c

Firstly a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far, I am literally overwhelmed and jumping for joy at the response.

As you can see from my Go Fund Me link above I am very close to my original target. If anyone still wishes to donate there is still time with nearly a month until the big jump on the 8th May.

I would be over the moon if I can reach my goal and maybe even smash it!

Best wishes to you all and thank you for your continued support to my causes.

Debbie x

This time of year at the Sanctuary is a time to reflect on a special lady that left us 13 years ago and way too early.

Singlehandedly founding the Devon Horse & Pony Sanctuary in 1976 and paving the way for where we are today, her legacy is stronger than ever!

From Dartmoor to the Dordogne & back again, we still practice the same values that were so close to her own heart to ensure the rescued, retired and neglected equines have that safe haven that she created.

Without Sylvia Phillips we would
not be where we are today. She never really set out to have a sanctuary full of equines but when you do a job and care as much as she did people start to hear about it.

Her same warm love of horses extended to people, with personal letter writing to supporters a main focus albeit a close second to the care of her horses. She had a wicked sense of humour and partial to the odd rude joke or two. She lived her life for her horses and nothing was ever going to come between that, apart from the odd glass of sherry!

As Frank Sinatra once sung
‘I did it my way’

Although she never got to fully experience what was created in France at Brantome Police Horses her name and what she stood for was on the lips of every visitor that came to see her beloved horses and they left each visit under no illusions as to why she had started all those years ago.

As the charity continues its next chapter it seems only fitting to Sylvia that it is back at its ‘forever home’ on Dartmoor; and so the journey continues.

Thank you for reading and be safe.
Take care everyone 💙❤️🧡💛💚

Please like, comment, share so that we can spread the word and help continue the work for these wonderful creatures that Sylvia so selflessly started.

Our Story

We provide British Police horses that have been retired from service, either through ill health or old age, with a final and loving home, here in the idyllic countryside of the Dordogne, France.

The same loving home is given to other animals in need. The friends of the Police Horses include Ponies, Miniature Donkeys, Dogs, Cats, Sheep, Goats and other creature that needs a safe home. Through interaction with our animals we also help children and young adults with learning difficulties, such is the need for this kind of help it is now becoming a major part of what we do. As a non-profit organisation, we are entirely funded through donations. Therefore, in order to help raise much needed funding, we routinely hold Open Days, complete with cream teas, during the late spring and summer season as well as holding various activities throughout the year, including our annual Summer Ball, in July. We always greatly appreciate all the support and donations we receive and 100% goes on caring for the horses.
